Gravatar Yep, conservatism is working like gangbusters.

If you call leaving the country open to terrorists attacks "working". Or if stagnating wages and economic growth "works" for you. Or if overall loss of prestige and influence in the world is what you think of when you think "working".

Then yes, conservatism sure is working. Working like a charm.

Gravatar Who left the country open to attacks? Our 42nd President. He stood back while terrorsits attacked the WTC, our African Embassies, the U.S.S. Cole.

The economy is going strong, and I challenge you to provide data to the contrary.

Our "presitge" and "influence" in the world is still great. We are still the hegemon, last time I checked, and that is not going to change.

The liberalism of the 60s and 70s brought us stagflation and Vietnam.

Gravatar I wish you could hear yourself.

1) Do the words, "Osama Bin Laden Determined To Strike Within the United States" mean anything to you? It was the headline of a PDB that your hero utterly ignored prior to 9/11. 42's administration put the WTC attackers behind bars and stopped the millennium bombing plot. 43 responded to 9/11 by attacking a country that posed no threat. This is basic stuff that I should not have to be teaching you.

2) The economy: http://finance.yahoo.com/
(gosh that was tough)

3) Our "prestige" and "influence"
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4185205.stm

4) Is Liberalism of the 60's and 70's code for "It was Clinton's fault"? If not, I don't see what you are going for.

5) Your head is so full of right wing fantasy world thinking that I suppose you also think that the world is 10,000 years old.

Anyway, Happy Reagaversary & have fun in your "up is down" 10,000 year old cartoon world.

I'll drink to the gip' tonight in your honor.

Gravatar 1) Do you think Bush could really have prevented 9-11? I think not. The plan was in motion before he was even elected. And Bush has never been "my hero."

2)I may be blind, but I see nothing about the economy on that page. I see things about the markets but not the economy.
"On net, real gross domestic product (GDP) looked likely to accelerate somewhat in the third and fourth quarters from the 3-1/2 percent annual rate registered in the first half of the year."
http://www.federalreserve.gov/bo...018/ default.htm

3) Why do you care what a bunch of nations who can't even get a constitution together and and who's world importance is readily declining think?

4) As opposed to the liberalism of the 1960s and 70s, the conservatism of the 1980s-2005 has brought economic prosperity, the end of the Cold War, and better oppurtunity for all.

5) Last I heard, scientists estimate the solar system to be about 4.6million years old, and the earth about 3.9 million years old.

Gravatar You're wasting your time w/"Jason," Ryan. Getting into a "debate" w/him only lasts until you pose a difficult question -- one that will prove him an utter dolt. Then he won't pop back in to comment until much later -- or only to offer some "cute" quips.

FYI.

Gravatar "A total of 65% of Americans say the national economy is getting worse, which is up from 53% in September."

Apparently if Bush has done such a great job with the economy, someone forgot to tell the average American, whose lives it affects.

"Employers added only 56,000 jobs in October, well below the 150,000 or so that are needed to keep pace with population growth."

Of course, I realize that the Fed controls the economy way more than any policy enacted by Congress or the President, but there is really no comparison to the economic optimism of the Clinton years to the negative attitudes of today.

Gravatar This is true. It his difficult to for anyone to judge the economy without looking for the numbers.

High gas prices are probably to blame for the low economic rating right now, as that hits consumers in the wallet.

Gravatar "Our "presitge" and "influence" in the world is still great. We are still the hegemon, last time I checked, and that is not going to change."

That's a fascinating perspective of "prestige" and "influence." It differs little from saying that we are still the biggest bully on the block, so who cares if anyone like us.

Here's the problem. When I was a kid, we used to ally oursleves against the bully and then we pushed him around. That's been happening in the EU and it's starting to happen in Latin America. And Iraq, where we are having ass our handed to us, it's happening big time there too. They are streaming over the borders to have a crack at the USA.

You need a new definition of prestige. It will us all a bit safer as well as the rest of the world.

Gravatar 5) Last I heard, scientists estimate the solar system to be about 4.6million years old, and the earth about 3.9 million years old.

I forgot about the fact that you break with the RNC on science. But if you have a scientific mind, why do you disregard the evidence of Bush's failure, and rely on blind faith in some RNC generated spin?

He could have stopped the 9/11 attacks if he was as engaged in fighting terrorism as he was in trying to come up with a pretext for attacking Iraq. You should read about an FBI agent named Coleen Rowley if you need to find out more about this.

Gravatar Jason,

Even I don't think Bush could've stopped 9/11. Perhaps heeded the warning a bit more closely, but I don't think this one could've been avoided at all.
