Wow. The thing is, there are historical documents besides the Bible which support the claim that Jesus of Nazareth was a real person.
The man states what this is really about in his comments to Reuters: "[O]bscurantism and regression," meaning the Church doesn't condone whatever I do and does not think the way I do, therefore I am going to take it down.
However, if suing religions because you don't accept their beliefs is all the rage, someone should take the Church of Scientology to court. Of course, the Scientologists will countersue, which will make it all the more hilarious.

lol - as long as the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (http://www.venganza.org/ ...hilarious) is safe.
Seriously, what a wacky lawsuit - if he has the opinion, he should do some research and write a book, not sue over a man who has been dead/resurrected for 2000 years, give or take a few.

The responses to Cascioli's case amuse me - mostly people just taking offense that their long-held beliefs are challenged. It would be refreshing to see an intelligent counteraguement or two, instead of the usual reactionary bluster.
Incidentally, Mike McKain, Cascioli HAS done considerable research, and written at length about this, as have numerous other people.
And to Jess, there are scant extrabiblical documents which people claim attest to JC's existence, but none are contemporary to his alleged life. The tidbits which people like to quote either merely attest to the existence of CHRISTIANS (not the same as Christ himself), or are of highly dubious credibility when examined with any intellectual discipline.
