True enough - I'm sure our own habits has to do with complacency in this.

Of course, our own debt also does not affect the national economy in the form of interest rates, unemployment, and trade. The Economist had an interest piece recently on how our current economy's progress is propped up artifically by debt, and how it could come crashing down on top of us if we're not careful. Definatly should be more of a concern than it is to the current administration.
