Byrd is no hero, he's simply shrewd. He knew the Dems had no ability to block the confirmation and he jumped before the rest of his party. He's been in the Senate since Jesus was a corporal and will be there until his dying day. Ain't no way, no how them thar Mountaineers are going to vote him out of office.
