No, but only for two reasons. One, my parents will not allow me to keep one in the house, and two, they are verboden in the dorms. Once I establish permanent residency somewhere, that will change.

Zodiac was cool; I especially liked the fact that the main character zipped around Boston in his Zodiac inflatable (hence the title) and avoids all the auto traffic. A metaphor for living "off the grid" in my opinion.

Not if you establish residency in DC.

Good stuff, I read 'Diamond Age' during Christmas Break and enjoyed it thoroughly, for all of the reasons you mention. I'm a bit amused that you wouldn't recommend 'The Big U', though not surprised. My take on it is that it's good and enjoyable - but only if you already know you like Stephenson, and more for the ideas addressed than the story, whereas his later stuff has good ideas and good story. Here's to looking forward to the next one.

I may end up attempting "The Big U" again. Stephenson doesn't talk about it highly, saying it is a product of the university of the 80's.
