Gravatar So.....you think Bush is doing a good job then?

Gravatar Right at this very moment, I would say 55% favorable to 45% unfavorable. The economy is strong, and overall, I think he is doing fine. However, there are serious issue areas where he could be doing more, and some where he isn't doing even the minimal.

Gravatar Just curious, what is CBS's approval rating these days? If things keep going the way they are, they will qualify as a 527. You know, a partisan political nonprofit group.

Gravatar You guys are hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.

It is difficult to keep smiling when people like William F. Buckley say that, invading and bombing Iraq in order to transform it into a pro-U.S. beacon of peace, stability and freedom is a wholesale disaster.

Reality can be a downer these days, but JTTR always comes through with the funny take on politics. "I think he is doing fine." Classic!

Keep up the good work.

Gravatar You know, when I really want a good laugh, "Clinton balanced the budget" usually does the trick.

Gravatar G,

You did it again. Irony falls lightly around you like a blanket of fresh snow.

Keep it coming.

Gravatar Some of KJLs ideas are criticisms with 20/20 hindsight in her mistakes column she says Bush was "foolishly going for massive social security reform instead of just private accounts" but her Republican strengths list "propose BIG ideas and force the Democrats to take a stand against them".

Well which is it Kate? Big ideas or not?

Bush's real problem at this point is not Iraq. His real problem is that he hasn't made Republicans happy. You don't hit 40% without losing a lot of Republicans. Nobody likes the prescription drug plan. Nobody likes the deficit. Once BDS set in he should have stopped trying to buy off the Dems with money he didn't have and started running a focused fiscally tight government.

Gravatar His real problem is that he hasn't made Republicans happy.

His real problem is that he sucks as President. Why are you guys making this more difficult than it is.

He simply sucks. Get over it.

Gravatar More in-depth commentary from Jason. I mean, come on, at least humor them with a real argument - this is an easy one.

CBS's poll may be skewed - maybe the number is 34-59. Other polls don't look much better....are they all skewed? Or could it be that, as Jason so elequently put it, "Bush sucks as President"?

Cook/Rt - 40-54
Time - 40-54
Marist - 40-57
Survey USA - 40-57

Looks fairly consistent to me.

Gravatar See, that's what a rational rebuttal looks like. The problem for CBS is that while 40-57 is bad, it doesn't allow them the headline of "worst results ever" for the president.
