That's funny, I was thinking of Red Dawn when I read the post below, re: gun ownership as a human right vs. oppression and/or genocide.
Wolverines!

"All that hate's gonna burn you up, kid."
"It keeps me warm."
Good flick. Not a great flick but a good flick.

First film to get the PG-13 rating I believe. Bleak, yet entertaining film.

Entertaining, sure, but wildly unbelievable. A bunch of HS kids taking on Cuban and Soviet regular army??
Uh-huh.
My favorite line(s):
"How did'ja get yerself shot down, Colonel?"
Colonel (Powers Booth): "It was five against one -- I got four."

Two measures of a quality movie: how many explosions and does it make you want to chant "U-S-A" over and over again. Red Dawn succeeds on both counts.

I do admit -- as a 19 year old viewing the movie by myself while my younger sisters were at another flick -- cheering on Patrick Swayze to "DO IT!" when he had that gun pointed that wounded Soviet soldier lying the jeep.
"Youth."

Jeeze, I didn't realize how many in the DE blogosphere were 80's kids. I watched that movie over and over when HBO ran it into the ground way back when Jesus was a corporal.
Had they seen it before?
They probably have a very different view of it than those of us who grew up during the Cold War. I always knew it was a fantasy and unrealistic but at the same time there was thought of "well, what WOULD happen if we were invaded."

All these "Red Dawn" lover and yet all you wingnuts thought that the Iraqi's were supposed to be happy about us bombing the crap out of them and invading them.
Funny that?
Maybe we saw a differewnt movie. We are talking about the "Red Dawn" starring Charlie Sheen and C Thomas Howell right?
