I don't see why this is a big deal. Aren't all protests organized by someone/organization?
This is certainly a large hole in the "unbiased media" argument.
As I commented on another blog, the media's not supposed to create news, just report it.
Hmm... maybe I'm missing something? Are these guys radio talk show hosts? If so, what's the big deal? It's like Hannity or Gallagher rallying listeners for a protest. Maybe the apparent "spontaneity" wasn't what it was (I never heard a news report call them such), but ...
And isn't it a positive that they emphasized carrying US flags, wearing white and cleaning up after themselves?
It depends, actually, Hube, on what type of programs you're talking about. Besides "El Piolin," it seems the rest of the people behind this were TV anchors, who are the people who are supposed to report the news.
Regardless, this does indicate, however, that the "spontaneity" of the protests was more or less crap, which seemed obvious to me anyway.
Yeah..it seemed to me that this would ve the equivilent of Katie Couric and Matt Lauer organizing an Iraq War protest.
If that's the case, I certainly concur.
No march of that size is spontaneous. This is no different from the Christian and right-wing outlets flogging anti-abortion events like the annual march in DC. I don't think the Hispanic commenters promoting the march are pretending to be objective.
