I think you should put a trademark after "Crappy Immigration Plan." It just makes me laugh that you write it like that.
http://www.dustmybroom.com/?p=3385 Great article about how Canada can avoid a problem similar to ours, which really points out many of the sad realities about how we've (the US) ignored this problem for so long that we've few options for dealing with it effectively.

One of our favourites, Monte Solberg, outright rejects the "American model" because it sends "the message that the way to get in here quickly is to come illegally. We don't want to send that message."
Canada's leaders get it. Our leaders clearly don't.

Well right now I am worried on getting the Mexican border closed. Then we can stop Canadians from stealing our healthcare.

I think the flip side to the immigration debate is largely underreported. We need to make it as easy as possible for foreign nationals who get PhD's and other post-grad degrees from our universities to get on the road to US citizenship. We need to be on the positive end of the brain drain.

That's not what I was talking about, Ryan. Click the links. They are about Canada taking the opposite approach and deporting illegal immigrants. Thanks for paying attention to what I said. Much appreciated.
Dela- Yes, we need to redo the whole system and end quotas and implement a system more like Canada's, which has sort of a points system and focuses on skills and training rather than ethnicity and origin.

Jess, I can't even make a crack about Canadian healthcare on my own blog?
Happiness is warm sarcasm.
I am all for more hard-working and highly-educated immigrants.

No, it's that you didn't pay attention to what I was saying. I wasn't talking about Canadians coming here at all, so that crack made no sense at all to me. You can make whatever jokes you want, but you seemed to have totally ignored my point.
But it doesn't matter. Bush made it clear this weekend in Cancun where his allegiances lie.
