WSJ did a piece on Earth Day http://www.opinionjournal.com/we...c/?
id=110008277
A partial summary of it:
In the 1970s, environmentalists claimed that by now we would be seeing mass starvation, overpopulation, and global cooling among all things.
Definitely not a good thing for science or for various causes when science is misused to further an agenda and later we find out it was all wrong. How can I believe the new cries of "Global warming!" when first of all the data is really not there and second, 30 yrs ago it was "Global cooling; we're all going to die!"

"Solvent Green"? What, did the stuff dissolve humans or what, Kilroy?
It's "Soylent Green." A true sci-fi classic whose premise features two disaster scenarios, one currently hotly debated (global warming) and the other pretty much debunked (massive overpopulation).

"What, did the stuff dissolve humans or what, Kilroy?"
To control the population trash trucks would drive down the middle of street and scoop people up and take them to a factory where they cook them down. Green waffers were the end product and main food source for the population.
I think if we were evet to get that desperate we start eating the legislators.

I'm very aware of what happened in the movie. I've seen it probably over 15 times. Like I said, it's a classic. I was just cracking up at the "Solvent," that's all.
