Then I guess most Americans are terrorists...because every poll in the last six months has shown Americans want us out of Iraq.

I thought this blog was a source for thoughtful discussion. Instead you feed us hyperbole.

JERUSALEM – Everybody has an opinion about next Tuesday's midterm congressional election in the U.S. – including senior terrorist leaders interviewed by WND who say they hope Americans sweep the Democrats into power because of the party's position on withdrawing from Iraq, a move, as they see it, that ensures victory for the worldwide Islamic resistance.
The terrorists told WorldNetDaily an electoral win for the Democrats would prove to them Americans are "tired."
They rejected statements from some prominent Democrats in the U.S. that a withdrawal from Iraq would end the insurgency, explaining an evacuation would prove resistance works and would compel jihadists to continue fighting until America is destroyed.
They said a withdrawal would also embolden their own terror groups to enhance "resistance" against Israel.
"Of course Americans should vote Democrat," Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, told WND. (Emphasis Mine)

Republicans dig this crap out every election to try to guilt/scare Americans into voting for their own failing agenda instead of thinking for themselves. It's a dirty, brainless tactic and you know it. Rule by fear is no way to rule...its the stuff of dictatorships.
Try this for a thought experiment...maybe some of these terrorists know that this will have the effect of getting Republicans elected which is actually what they want. We continue to attack Muslim nations, creating more terrorists and keeping their cause alive and reinforcing their belief that we are an imperialist nation.
Do I think that is true? No, but I think it is quite possible the terrorists are smart enough to be planning ahead that much. They are masters of the international media.

In the "Looming Tower", it is clear that bin Laden & company really believed that their efforts caused the withdrawal and ultimate fall of the USSR. They have said repeatedly that they have the same goal for the USA. Bin Laden and friends saw our hasty retreat after Somalia as evidence that we were weak & would cut tail and run when things got tough. There are enough quotes around.

I think that Mike McKain provided an excellent response to your reply. Since there is no way I could do better I second his comment.

Republicans dig this crap out every election to try to guilt/scare Americans into voting for their own failing agenda instead of thinking for themselves.
They're just citing what terrorists say, apparently you do not believe that Americans can think for themselves based on the facts. That's an attitude that is typical to the Old Press, which is why some empirical/historical facts go largely unreported, yet they still happened and can still be observed.
It's a dirty, brainless tactic and you know it. Rule by fear is no way to rule...its the stuff of dictatorships.
It's ironic that you fall into a tactic that isn't fact based and instead is based on fearmongering about American becoming a dictatorship in a comment in which you're supposedly trying to condemn fearmongering. In another comment you admit to being a partisan hack, and that's about all that this bit of propaganda seems to be based on. The propaganda of Republicans is based on a fact that can be known in this instance: "Terrorists are saying such and such, here is the terrorist, here is what he says." while your own is based on the vague imagery typical to fearmongers: "Republicans are just like dictators or somethin'..."
One is specified information that people can make their minds up about, the other is based on evocative imagery that conditions emotional reactions. If you were really crude about it you'd engage in propaganda of the proto-Nazi Moveon.org types who try to craft imagery that associates Bush with Hitler because it's the same pattern.

Its frustrating - I remember when this blog was about thoughtful dialogue and debate - now its about namecalling. It seems mynym has drug everyone else down to his holier-than-thou level.
Starting off with the headline "The terrorists think you should vote Democrat" is fear mongering to the highest degree. This is a typical Repubublican tactic, used in almost every election. These are facts. Remember when, in 2004, the RNC sent out fliers in West Virginia telling potential voters that Dems were going to ban the bible?
I wish I could say I trusted people enough not to fall for these tricks, but the truth of it is, some people are gullible enough to be influenced by this kind of trash.
