CSPAN is showing a live Democratic caucus and CSPAN 2 is showing a live Republican caucus if you're interested.

This whole thing looks quite confusing and disorganized. Its more like a poorly planned elementary school class election than a way we should choose the president of the United States. I also don't like the "public" aspect of it, nor the fact that Iowa is so incredibly whitewashed. Its really time for the parties to stop babying these small states early on and come up with something better and more democratic.

lol, Mike, your analysis is dead-on. I like the way the Democrats caucus, though it clearly has a million drawbacks. The Republican way is more organized, though not as fun - at least from my standpoint.
I like the regional primary approach. Hopefully, it'll get adopted for 2012.

Oh, I'd love to participate in the Democratic one, but it just doesn't seem fair.
The Democratic results are shaping up to be a mess - basically a three way tie. Whoever "wins" its significance is only going to be what the media makes of it if it ends up that close.

isn't there some kind of rule against having two presidents from the same small town in Arkansas? If not, maybe the Democratic Congress could slip it into a bill just to be safe. Maybe W wouldn't notice...

Good point, if there is a three way tie in Iowa between Edwards, Clinton and Obama- i think the media portrays Obama as the winner.
Edwards needed a clear victory to be viable elsewhere, Clinton needed a clear victory to still be portrayed as inevitable, but Obama can continue on to NH and draw independents to his campaign.

Well, Iowa did it again. This should stir things up a bit. I truly believe Obama will now be difficult to beat. For once, I agree with the analist; how dramatic for an African-American with a name like his to win in such a white-washed state. I teach in a school that is nearly 1/2 African-American, and those kids, many of whom know little of the world, knew about Obama but few believed he could win. Now that he did, I think there will be more African-American support rolling in.
Either way, tonight shows one thing for sure; the "establishment" is in some trouble in 2008.
