Gravatar Well McCain is off to a great start on that leap ahead. He told all his supporters in West Virginia to jump ship to what I can only assume is his presumptive VP Mike Huckabee. Even so they barely eeked out a win over Mitt Romney.

What I learn from this is that when you split the branches of the Conservative coalition you fail. When you bring them together, you start to have a chance. Between McCain and Huckabee, they almost cover all three branches of the Reagan coalition. Mitt Romney does it all by himself and still puts up a good fight against their tag team.

Gravatar Sooo happy Huck won West Virginia!

Gravatar I've supported Huckabee ever since the first few debates, mostly because he actually answered questions that were put to him, rather than saying two words and then launching into unrelated talking points about commanding the largest fighter squadron or whatever. However, I'll be voting for Romney this evening, just to deny McCain another victory. If McCain was a clear favorite I'd stick with Mike as a "send a message" voter (I voted for Buchanan over Dole in the '92 primary) but Romney's just close enough to win here. Oh, and I'm not buying into the Huckabee/McCain collusion jazz, but even if Huck's on the ticket I won't vote for McCain in the general election.

Gravatar It would be hard to imagine a McCain/Huckabee ticket... McCain's weakness is already that he is too liberal. When Huckabee was the front-runner he was attacked for being too liberal also. McCain's gotta pick the most conservative person that anyone has ever heard of. Which would be...?
