As a homeowner now with a small family to worry about, my views on guns have evolved somewhat. I'm still very much in favor of more regulations, restrictions, and safety measures (which the NRA still inexplicably opposes), but I've come to appreciate why many law-abiding citizens feel the need to keep an armament in their homes. Still, I see no need to allow citizens to keep AK-47's, etc. in their homes, but that is a different story entirely.

I don't know about it being a "duty" but definitely a right.
