Gravatar Ron Paul is an interesting person but his rather rigid Libertarianism goes beyond the practical limits of politics.

He appeals to hard-core Ayn Rand devotees and neo-isolationists of the Pat Buchanan stripe.

His support comes from the knee-jerk crowd.

Those of us who are asymptotic libertarians can find some refuge in the Republican Party rather than among the highly-selective civil libertarians of the left.

Gravatar With the way things are going, I think the chances are pretty good of picking up some third party candidates that could potentially pull votes away from the Republican Party in particular. Guiliani's social record will either A. Keep social conservatives at home or B. Drive them to a socially conservative third party candidate. Either way, this may be the year for the "Nader-ing" of the Republican Party.

Gravatar Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard 10/27/07:

"Come to think of it, there is a credible scenario for Ron Paul. That would mean running as the Libertarian candidate for president in the general election. His scenario would see him winning more votes than any Libertarian presidential nominee ever has. Just not enough to win the presidency."

Gravatar Bill Richardson? New Mexico's governator? Helpful in picking up the "hispanic" vote? Is that legal or illegal votes?
He keeps remarking about his successes in Darfur (Bloodiest civil war now going on) and North Korea (where they deliberately insulted him). I'd keep my mouth shut about these disasters.
He is doing his best to bankrupt the state that elected him. The man's a carpetbagger. A posuer.
