Gravatar Amen. Let em sit there and flap their gums.

Gravatar I'm proud of this new Democratic congress. They are getting things done and doing some real ass-kicking on the side. C-Span hasn't been as entertaining since...never! This is a huge change from 12 years of the fat, lazy, corrupt, stupid republican-led Congress that even Lou Dobbs (!!) called the "Do-nothing Congress."

Gravatar I'm proud of this new Democratic congress. They are getting things done

Sorry, no they aren't.

Also, I like it when Congress does nothing. Second, who cares what Lou Dobbs thinks?

Gravatar Sorry, no they aren't.

Wrong, they have been very busy unraveling the sickening crime and corruption of your president's administration. Sickening, because this administration's incompetence has directly lead to illness and death. Of course, you already know about this but I seriously doubt you know about his even more corrupt replacement, David Paulison who knew that Katrina survivors were being poisoned for a YEAR AND A HALF by formaldehyde and REFUSED to do anything about it.

Gravatar Or how about those brave Americans who volunteered to search the rubble on 9/11 for survivors after they were told by Bush appointee Christine Todd Whitman, twice, that the air at ground zero was safe to breath.

There are many other cases from the top down of shocking incompetence ending or shortening American citizen's lives. Even Bush's own Surgeon General Richard Carmona spoke out recently against this administration, recently stating:

From Wikipedia's entry on Richard Carmona: "Anything that doesn't fit into the political appointees' ideological, theological or political agenda is ignored, marginalized or simply buried..."the problem with this approach is that in public health, as in a democracy, there is nothing worse than ignoring science or marginalizing the voice of science for reasons driven by changing political winds." According to Carmona, he was even ordered to mention President Bush three times on every page of his speeches.

Or just watch the hearing on YouTube.

Or perhaps you're more interested in how many bills they pass than how many lives they save by holding all of these hearings.

Also, I like it when Congress does nothing

Then you want a fascist dictatorship, with a president who has absolute rule? Well, this is America. We don't operate that way. Congress keeps the president in check, and that's exactly how the founding fathers intended it.

Also, you contradict yourself. You earlier stated that federal highways work better because they are maintained by states. Is Congress not a coalition of state governments to Bush's federal government?

Who listens to what Lou Dobb has to say? Republicans.

Gravatar Then you want a fascist dictatorship, with a president who has absolute rule? Well, this is America. We don't operate that way. Congress keeps the president in check, and that's exactly how the founding fathers intended it.

Who said anything about the other branches? I like my federal government slothy.

Is Congress not a coalition of state governments to Bush's federal government?

Not since the election of 1914.

Who listens to what Lou Dobb has to say? Republicans.

Maybe I'd listen to Lou Dobbs if he understood basic economics.

Gravatar Who said anything about the other branches? I like my federal government slothy.

Yes, and sloths are lazy and stupid just the way republicans want their politicians.

Wayne Gilchest, a Republican Representative from Maryland, said this about his own party: "I can't psychoanalyze those guys. I think the GOP was dissolving. Now it's drying up and the wind's going to blow it away. I just don't think we have the depth of knowledge, intellect, and experience necessary for a viable political party any more."

Amen.

Gravatar Yes, and sloths are lazy and stupid just the way republicans want their politicians.

That is highly insulting of the noble sloth.

Sloths just have really slow metabolisms. I just want them same of my federal government. To move slowly and deliberately, and not in a predatory manner.

Gravatar Government is slow and deliberate by design, it needs no help from people like you. Conservatives want to drown it in a bathtub until it's dead.

(I'm of course paraphrasing from respected conservative philosopher and hardcore America-hater Grover Norquist.)

Gravatar If Grover is a philosopher, then we're all doomed. It's called rhetoric.

He's also a libertarian, a very different animal than a conservative.
