What does "ostrich candidate" mean? Ron Paul is the only candidate republican candidate who doesn't have his head totally up his ass.
Ostrich = isolationism
I like the idea of it, but the world is just too small. Isolationism worked when it took days or weeks to cross the ocean.
The world situation as a whole is tough right now; great threats are on the horizon. Part of my argument for us pulling out of Iraq is the need to regroup and prepare against other potential threats. We look weak right now because of Iraq.
I wholeheartedly agree - I don't think most Democrats (or people, for that matter) are totally anti-war; some are just more necessary than others.
This is certainly true. I think we can regroup without completely withdrawing from Iraq; we're going to need major drawbacks on numbers in the next 6-12 months anyway.
I think a lot of Democrats especially might have different reasons for deciding a war is necessary, but that could just be my impression for the foreign policy limbo between the Cold War and the GWOT that Clinton (and GHWB) was in power for.
