I'm not sure how you can accuse McCain of going along with what is popular when he continues to advocate a larger troop increase for Iraq.
On that same note, however, I'm not sure why Castle would endorse a candidate with whom he so severly disagrees over Iraq, the major issue of the day.

I guess what I should have said is "what's politically advantageous is right."

To be fair, his support of a troop increase has not hurt his political popularity at all either.
I generally agree with your assessment of both men, but probably for opposite reasons. It bothered me to see McCain act like Bush's lap dog in 2004 when he was gearing up for 2008 after previously being critical of the administration.
It also bothers me to see Mike Castle carry so many Democratic beliefs but then flock to Republicans when they come to the state or during an election.
Either way, its kind of fun to get to follow both parties at once as the primary season heads into full speed. Too bad it'll pretty much be settled a year from now, almost 9 months before the general election. Perhaps a blog about your thoughts on the schedule is in order?

Hmm. Good idea. I think it is way too early, but I'll try to expand on it at some point in the near future.

McCain does have his good points. His problem is that he has no political philosophy. He flies by the seat of his pants and cobbles together contradictory policies because they sound good in isolation. In other words, he is like 40% of voters.
