My question revolves around the words "Though he is a liberal democrat...". I am wondering what how being a liberal democrat makes anyone more or (as you seem to imply)less likely to do something like this.

Ryan Mc, from my experiences with liberal Democrats, it seems that it would indeed indicate them less likely to do something along this line. Would it have been more prudent to say "Though a celebrity...?"
