Gravatar Again, the use of Hussein is just not necessary. We don't refer to John Sidney McCain or Michael Dale Huckabee. Its just an attempt to inspire latent fear that he is a Muslim in spite of the reality at hand. Its an unnecessary play on the fear and ignorance of certain voters in an attempt to distract them from the real problems that we face as a nation.

Gravatar While the use of Hussein is not necessary, there is nothing wrong with saying it. Refer to my previous post, http://www.jokerstotheright.com/...sein- obama.html

Merely writing someone's full name does not constitute "playing on the fear and ignorance of certain voters."

While some people may have an ulterior motive in mentioning Hussein, it is this kind of across-the-board negative attacks against all people who utter Obama's middle name that is really disturbing.

May I suggest that trying to hide the fact that his middle name is Hussein is an insult to voters who you think can't distinguish between a name and a faith? Perhaps instead of trying to run from this, people should start embracing it.

There is nothing wrong with the name Hussein, but it certainly seems like Democrats think so.

Gravatar If the use of the name is not necessary, why is it that many Republicans feel the need to mention it every time that they mention his name when this is not done with most other politicians, at least in the present day? Its clever how those who insist on using it have tried to turn it against the Democrats, even Obama himself. The man can't help his middle name, which does reflect his Muslim ancestry. He's not gotten rid of it because that would be unnecessary, and has even mentioned in speeches how it is great that Americans are brave enough to vote for a man named Barack Hussein Obama considering the list of previous presidential names. However, the insistence of many on the Republican side to repeatedly use the name EVERY TIME he comes up is both annoying and, at the very least, suspicious in motive.

Gravatar I don't know why "most" (I doubt it is most) Republicans do it. In fact, I can't answer for them.

But what I do know is that blanket statements assuming that all who use it are "xenophobic radicals" is highly disingenuous.

Remember, it's only an insult if you perceive it to be.

Gravatar Republicans who use this are, in my view, attempting to alienate the white male voters, independent, Democrat, and Republican, who are working class and hungry for a change but who are uncomfortable as a result of their own prejudices (that admittedly everyone has to a degree) about that name and what it implies. If not an attempt to play to these prejudices, why use it in casual writing every time his name is mentioned? Why did you feel the need to use it? Its not like I'm going to confuse him with the OTHER Barack (Henry? Harry?) Obama...

Gravatar I find it insulting that in a country like America, one cannot repeat someone's full name without fear of attack and name calling.

Why did I choose to say Barack Hussein Obama? Well, what's wrong with saying Barack Hussein Obama? Nothing, unless you perceive that as something to be afraid of; I do not... and millions upon millions of Americans don't either. Like I said, there is always going to be those who won't vote for him because of it - but does that mean his middle name should be kept a secret?

I'm sure there might be people who wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton because she is (arguably) a Northeastern liberal... but does that mean we shouldn't say that she's from New York?

I think the only way for people to get over a fear of the name Hussein is to have an active, open discussion about why it shouldn't matter - not shun the thought of mentioning his middle name in casual conversation so that you can hide it from the ignorant white voter.

Gravatar As I've now stated several times, I have no problem with an open conversation about it - but that is not what you were trying to do, nor is it what much of the conservative media is trying to do when they arbitrarily use it repeatedly. Would they use it with the same enthusiasm if his middle name was "Henry"? I have my doubts. Looking back at previous posts, you do not use the middle name of any other candidate or politician, so it is not something that you feel the need to regularly do. Perhaps you've been driven to do this due to exposure to other more sinisterly-minded conservative news outlets; I have no way of knowing for sure. However, it certainly seems like a conscious, deliberate decision on your part. That would be fine in a post discussing the topic, but to arbitrarily use it in a post not even really that related to Obama...I just have to question your true motives.

Gravatar I like how you assume that you know my motives. Here is your logic: Since most people who use his middle name are malicious, anyone who uses his middle name is malicious. Not only are you are dead wrong, but that kind of thinking is very disturbing.

If you look at the last time I mentioned Barack Hussein Obama, it was in reference to everyone being all uptight about it. The very next time I mention his name, is in this post.

It was a conscious decision made to generate discussion on the topic. But, of course, liberals can not have a discussion on the topic without name calling.

Gravatar I was simply inquiring as to why you brought it up this time and you became immediatly defensive. I understand and apprciate the previous post in which you brought it up to encourage discussion about it. I don't see the need to repeat it in a post not wholly about Obama and not at all relating to the name issue.

And Gary, I've been watching kids take a test for 5 days now, two hours a day. If that doesn't lead one to be a bit "disturbed," nothing will .

Gravatar I'm not sure if you'll even see this, but I thought it was amusing and relevant to this post, so:
