Gravatar all i can say is that i'm super glad to see one of these again.

Gravatar Who knew Glen Cambell was still alive?

Gravatar Really happy to read another one of these.

Gravatar Tom-- Little Big Town "Fine Line". Get on it! Unbelievably Rumours-y!

Gravatar You might've liked it but c'mon, dog, that shit was not an 8.1.

Gravatar Ah, these lists. Love 'em.

"The type of band where the singer eventually releases a terrible acoustic folk solo album" - does this include Thrice by extention?

And what I've heard of the Nachtmystium album is fucking sweet, dude. Hope a metal album makes it into the top five of the next quarterly.

Gravatar I can't remember for sure, but I think Pitchfork might've actually pushed that rating up a couple of decimal points. In any case, I liked it at least enough for high 7s. It's not a scientific process; I'm more embarrassed for letting a Memphis Bleek album break 5.

Gravatar I really enjoy these lists and am glad that you're still doing them. One question though: what's up with your love for Jeezy? I just feel like he hasn't improved enough over his three albums to warrant any kind of attention/acclaim. Maybe I should listen to this album again, but on first listen I thought it was more of the same: haunted house organ production, bad rapping, and an unrealized theme. His first was different, but now he's made 3 versions of it and I find it's gettirng tired.

Gravatar Good call on that Glen Campbell album. Krallice too!

Gravatar Brandon: I got around to checking out both Campbell and Krallice after you mentioned them on your Facebook, so thanks for that.

Beenhaving: I hope Jeezy never changes. I hope he keeps recording asthmatic superhero groans over gigantic drums and gothic synths for the next twenty years. I can appreciate what people don't like about him, but his stuff hits me on this total visceral, primordial neck-snap level. He's like the one A-list rapper who consistently makes actual albums, who never makes real commercial allowances or goes trend-chasing, and his shit is both really weird in its way and completely natural. It's not like everything he touches turns to gold; that USDA album was terrible. But The Recession is the best album the guy's ever made, I think, and that puts it way beyond any other rap records I've heard in recent months.

Gravatar I can understand that, I guess if you dig his deal then he won't disappoint. I think I got into him b/c of novelty but didn't get behind his character - I liked the AYs and the "Thaaaaat's Riiiiight"s but I've never given him much credit as a rapper. In the same way you can appreciate what people don't like about him, I can appreciate what people like about him. I like the idea of Jeezy much more than I like listening to a whole album.

Gravatar Wow. The Recession is easily the worst thing Jeezy's ever done. Maybe even worse than his one bad mixtape, Can't Ban The Snowman. And even that had 'Cadillac,' which is better than 'Put On' or anything on the current album.

Gravatar You're not wrong about the Gaslight Anthem. Album of the year. Jeezy, meanwhile, should have thrown out the first half of the recession and kept the second half. OK, keep "Welcome Back."

Gravatar tom it's good to have you back, congrats on everything and didn't you have some big website project or something in the works?

i'm definitely not the type of guy to like gaslight (big hold steady hater here) but i gotta say this album has replaced the recession on my shuffle and that is a thing i never thought would happen.

Gravatar Still in the works! Still hasn't launched yet! I cannot wait to start working for real. Going nuts over here.

Gravatar I just got around to downloading the Gaslight Anthem album and I had to come on here and thank you for introducing them to me. I'm only 3 songs in and I love it.

I'm with you: I'm a sucker for this type of "grown man" punk. I just saw Against Me! with Ted Leo & the Pharmacists opening, and I wish Gaslight Anthem had been on the bill instead of The Future of the Left.

Thanks for continuing to do such great work.
