You may laugh, but if people can make a living giving seminars about "I'm OK, you're OK", explaining to previously-ignorant staff that transactions work best when they operate to the benefit of all the parties involved, then I don't see why Messrs. Bowie and Mercury shouldn't do much the same. (Well I do, at least one of them's dead, but it's the principle that matters here.)

They probably would - did they have any other good songs apart from that one? That's one of my favourites.
BTW, I'm thirty and do listen to music produced after 1985 occasionally.
