I actually find it a bit overwhelming and yet utterly fascinating at the same time...

I think there's a sense of relief that a some really observant clever people have discovered this phenomena, ie, added to our knowledge of the planet - and that's got to be a good thing.

at the same time it's quite horrible news, which will probably be ignored until it's way too late, which is not a good thing.

ahhhh the dychotomy of life.

ooh, be carefully, I'm using big words. watch out or I'll use 'contemporaneously' in a sentence that makes sense and then we'll all be in trouble.
