Thanks for the precis of Transformers, as forewarned is forearmed and I have a hot date with a ten-yo boy to see it next week. And the HP movie which I'm sure will do its best with the large amount it had to work with!

I thought HPV was the worst. I guess I'll have to reread the lot of them again to celebrate the the movie. Perhaps V will look better on the second read.

Which one was 5 again? I thought the first one was the best: it was the shortest, and the plot was unashamedly primarily about jumping chocolate frogs and odd-flavoured jellybeans.

And lemon sherberts and jacket potatoes.
I agree.
The movies just can't capture moments like that.

Last nights discussion on GeekSpeak (WoW guild channel) about Transformers went roughly like this:
"So basically, its a romantic comedy robot fight film."
"Not enough zombies though."
[insert roughly standard discussion about the critical lack of zombies in films today, and how we had proper zombies back when _I_ were a boy...]
"So what we need is a Romantic Robot Zombie Fight Comedy film; a RomRobZomCom."
"Actually, I think I know someone who would make that film..."
"Well I'd watch it."
"Me too!"
So there you have it - market research complete; somebody get to work.

yeah, definitely thought V was the best for me, apart from the teenage crankypant hystrionics - which were far, far worse in VI. V had action and all the good characters in it all together for jolly adventure time.
VI was crap. IV was overblown but made into a really decent movie. III was good cos of the introduction of interesting characters and gave good movie. I and II were sweet.
hoping for a lot better in VII, and I don't care who dies or gets maimed as long as there's a decent wrapup of all the loose ends. actually I guess I *do* mind who dies etc, because I reckon she is going to cop out and use magyckkkal ways of bringing most beloved characters back from the dead. cop out.
but I reckon HPV movie is going to rock.

Shaun of the Dead is a ZomRomCom.
Perhaps they could make Shaun of the Daed 2: Robots.....?
