How is it even possible to have free trade with China? Many companies are controlled by their government, so their prices are set by government.

Of course, you can't really have free trade with any of the developed countries, either. They all have government subsidized health care built into the prices of their products which they export.

Gravatar I don't think a free trade agreement with China is possible or desirable as long as they have the form of government that they do.

As for developed nations, I do think free trade is desirable despite some differences in how health care is handled, plus differences in tax rates and regulations. There are some ways in which the US is freer than its fellow free world trading partners, and others in which it isn't as free. I think the differences, when all added up though, are pretty minor.

So I see no reason for trade barriers between free nations. I really want to see free trade between North America and Europe.
