"You don't prove your manhood by having a collection of women; rather it is proven by your commitment to one." - a former city employee 7/9/09

How hypocritical!

That is hypocritical, 722 is correct. All they talk about is McNair being a family guy then BAM he gets busted but all they still talk about his him being a familiy guy. Hello, duh.

Gravatar As the minister said in the eulogy, "let him without sin cast the first stone", any stone throwers out there?

Gravatar Actually Haynesworth should be in jail. What has he done for the community beside endanger us? I am sure being on probation will stop him from being a menace to society. Some athletics think it is their God given right to do what they please and our society supports them by worshipping them. Stop buying tickets, purchasing their memorabilia, and supporting the businesses that support them and this will change. Needless to say it won't change.

Gravatar And the wages of sin is death...Cruel but in some cases we reject the way we should for the road of self-destruction under the disguise of pleasure for the moment.
I pity the families and the lasting hurt this has caused.

Gravatar Yep, there are lots of stone throwers out there, Bob...and let's face it...it's hard to not be judgmental, and to love the sinner but not the sin. After all...we're human, too. While "putting down our stones" may be the thing to do, I do think it's important that the most is made of this "teachable moment" to remind our kids (and some adults could use a reminder, too) what is acceptable behavior and what is not, and that hypocrites are indeed everywhere. And even if you don't "truck" with the Ten Commandments, surely we can all agree that the Golden Rule is a good decent "life guide". I personally do not know anyone who wishes that some of McNair's behaviors that he "did unto others" would be done unto them. And the "moral" of the little "surprise ending" to McNair's morality tale" may be that it serves as a big-A$$ wake-up call to a whole lot of other folks. Perhaps he did not die in vain.

Gravatar Freefranklin

I agree with you, if only people will do something and use it as a lesson for themselves and their children.

Another prominent athletic gets a break, Stallworth serves all of 24 days for his manslaughter conviction.

And the fools in this country will continue to worship him and others like him. Bring back PACMAN.

Gravatar What's my comment at 7:22 last night got to do with gettin' a life and needin' professional help? I was likin' what you wrote dude?

Gravatar Today, July 10, 2009, the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS had several articles concerning Mr. Steve McNair, including a photograph of his wedding to his wife in Vicksburg, MS, circa 1997.

According to the articles, there was a stripper in Minnesota, with whom Steve McNair had been having an affair for over six years. The stripper was devastated by his death. The information came from a lady who had managed the strip club. (Sound anything like Pac Man Jones?) “MAKE IT RAIN”

Also, according to the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS articles, McNair’s wife was totally “In the dark” concerning his condo ownership and his mistress who killed him. She was totally unaware of his promiscuity and she was almost a “basket case” because of what she learned.

And you want to call this individual a “Role Model”? Give me a break.

Gravatar How does a judge justify giving
probation for breaking probation?

Gravatar On to Hall of Fame night. Racing, the real man's sport.

Gravatar If Williamson County Circuit Court Judge Jeff Bivins thinks probation and three days of community service are a "wake-up call," he's nutz. Likewise if he thinks a $5000 "donation" is anything more than a drop in the bucket for a millionaire.

That's not the message he sent from the bench. The real message was, "we're sorry to inconvenience you, sir. Would you like a cookie?"

If he had locked the guy up for a week (even 48 hours), that might have been construed as a "message" but the message Bivens sent was "we'll continue to go lightly on athletes who misbehave...

What's Bivins going to say to the family when one of these guys kills someone in a high speed DUI?

Gravatar Tis true. Bivins is a softy when it comes to crime.

He does seem to equate jail time with community service. Something to think about if you volunteer for anything...
