The hawala non-story would be hilarious if it weren't so nefarious.
There is no credit card system in Afghanistan, they deal entirely in cash. That's why the guy who was running that hawala business was doing so well.
But what is completely baffling is inserting Jack Idema into an article about millions of dollars of monetary transactions having to do with terrorism when it's obvious that Idema is not a terrorist.
I mean look at this sentence.
140 individuals, 138 criminal indictments, and the seizure of millions of dollars in illicit proceeds
And now we're talking about Idema and less than $1,000? I've got whiplash! That's a real "huh?" moment.
Are they so quick to condemn him simply because he is a former Green Beret?
