That is what the investigators from NCIS are trying to ascertain. The lack of bulletholes on the outside of the buildings argues against this, acc to reorts in Time mag in March. SO it's not yet a salient fact...and Crossan, the injured marine, would not have been able to tell whether the insurgents were firing. That is what the second military report said--but investigators seek to verify this because of so many discrepancies

I am the daughter of 2 marine officers and hope that people will stop venting until the investigation is complete. I find the possibility of a coverup almost as distressing as an alleged massacre.
Marines are tough , but they are honorable, and will get to the bottom of this. Semper Fi.
