Her husband wrote this on her Friendster wall. It's kind of strange.

Chances are, Kira doesn't like you.
You see, she's a picky bird, one who
doesn't fawn over the latest reality
shows or kowtow to the powers that be. No, she's an *artist*. So she's
allowed to wear as much black as she
wants and criticize stuff that sucks. If it wasn't for Kira, pathetic losers wouldn't realize their lot in life and those of us lucky enough to serve as her muse are able to live a much more
rewarding life.

I saw that. Isn't that just chilling??

It speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Yes, it does.

I really think you people need to stop watching CSI and let the police to their job before you crucify an innocent man. I know Matt from playing softball for a year or 2 a few years back. I never knew Matt that well but he was a very shy and quiet guy. He also seemed to be a very nice person. I heard about this horrible situation from a mutual friend and have read some of the comments on websites like this. It has absolutely appaled me that not one person has mentioned the fact that he is just a guy who has suffered a terrible loss. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Chicago,

I believe truth fears no questions. If Matthew is innocent, he should be happy people are looking closely to find the truth.

The truth will prevail. Don't worry

Eyes...AMEN!!!! I first read you at Steve Huff's place.

I COULDN'T AGREE WITH YOU MORE!

There is nothing to be ashamed of in finding the truth. And if Matt is not the perp I bet he would welcome being raked over so he can be ruled out and Kira's killer found. If he was truly gone on a trip his alibi should be airtight....yet he is not yet ruled out. His comments on that wall are disturbing and TELLING. Is this about justice for Kira? If so, then we ALL KNOW that Matt will HAVE to be ruled out FIRST. This is about justice for Kira and if Matt is innocent he will be just fine. I mean afterall he was out of town, right?
oh the things humans do to one another. eyes...your work is AWESOME AND THANK YOU.

You were right. Matthew Gretz has been taken into custody for murder.

I find it comforting that they finally took Kira's husband into custody. When the police said that they did not see a potential risk to the community with such a violent murderer a foot...it told me they knew it was Matt. They waited until the DNA could back the charge and I am happy about that because DNA evidence is pretty hard for jurors to walk away from...unless you sat for the O.J. trial.
As far as being ashamed of myself for blaming her husband...not here...I have a Blackberry...a laptop and a pager for my job. Anyone can get me at any time. In this day and age.."unreachable" does not even happen on a remote island. New York is not remote in any stretch of the word.

You bloggers are idiotic and I hope that this idiotic therapy is helpful for your shallow silly lives.

You are not helping to make this situation any easier to deal with.

Family and friends of Kira and Matt have refrained from any commentary for exactly the reasons that you've made most blatantly apparent. Your tiresome hounding of sensationalized news articles leads to further leaps of logical assumptions that are exactly what sensationalistic news 'performers' want you to do, so you'll buy more papers or watch their fucking advertisements. We all suffer loss and it is best to honor this loss with contemplation on the beauty given to us by those we've lost. Hope fully this contemplation will urge us to become better people in our own regards and become more active in pursuing the goals we have to be better people.

Until you figure this out, please keep up the good work of playing right into the hands of the newspaper reporters and CSI play/actors you're all aspiring to become; nervous anxious sheep.

I worked closely with Matt for 3 years in the Chicago Tribune's Marketing department. He could be a bit of a prick at times but that's true of most of us... right? He was a like-able guy... awkward, but like-able.

When I watched that vigil speech it seemed pretty Matt-Gretz... didn't sound like he was lying.... mostly like a presentation he would have given at work... "here's what I am suppose to say... this is what they want to hear... try not to look like a jackass... get through it..."

It's odd reading the dissection of Matt Gretz's personality on these blog sites. Honestly, he was a fairly bland/shy guy. He talked to me about Kira on numerous occasions — never anything hostile. "My fiance/wife is a graphic designer too..." then he would launch into what she was doing at school... the honeymoon... "when we were in Italy she picked out this shirt for me..." From what I gathered, he adored her.

The fact that people are going crazy over his comment on friendster "You see, she’s a picky bird, one who doesn’t fawn over the latest reality shows or kowtow to the powers that be..." is driving me batty. I thought it was pretty well written, clever, funny... if someone had written it about me, I would wear it as a badge of honor. Kira was an artist. His comments are a true assessment of most artists I know... including myself.

So did Matt kill Kira? Who knows. I will be shocked if he did. The fact that he hired that nutso expensive attorney is the reddest flag that I have seen at this point. But then, I guess if I were charged with murder, whether I had done it or not, I would hire the best I could afford too... so... again, who knows... I just wouldn't read too much into the facts that are currently available online.

Having sat 3 cubicle from the man for years... the whole thing is just bizarre. He could be irritating but, much like his description of Kira, I find most people irritating.

I didn't watch the video of Matt at the vigil - the iMac is running a little slow right now. However, I too pay attention to what people say. Their words. Because I notice when people don't make sense. I thought Matt was inarticulate in the beginning. What caught my eye (no pun intended) was the use of the word story at the end: "Going forward, let's tell good stories about Kira." Stories sound too muck like fiction, fabrications, tall tales.

I think we should go back to Victorian times when the bereaved wore black and were exempt from the rules of social intercourse for a year.

The iMac is running a bit faster now, so I watched the clip. And, it seemed to me Matt was inarticulate at the vigil. He was at a loss of words. He seemed grief-stricken. He looked as tho he was going to cry. He seeemed very afraid, almost clutching at his neck. Let's tell good stories about Kira -- he wants to continue her memory. He's truly grief-strickened.

Understand that cops and d.a.'s are not always the brightest bulbs in the lamp. Unfortunately for us all sometimes getting a conviction takes precedence over solving the crime. If Matt is guilty, he should pay. If the City is wrong, they should pay. EVIDENCE beyond a reasonable doubt will be required to convict him. Do they have that evidence or are they destroying a young man's life in a zealous quest for conviction? Matt's lawyer states that Matt left town 2 days before Kira's body was found. There would be an airline ticket, witnesses who saw him on the plane, etc., etc. This is such a tragedy. She looks like a very intelligent, feisty, creative spirit. My condolences to her family and friends.

Looks like there are some people who have had a deep vein struck by bloggers talking about their 'friend' Matt. Your friend Matt did some pretty strange things...like sending his travel suitcase to a friend in Chicago instead of just returning with it like most innocent people would. Now we have the upstairs neighbor saying that there was yelling and fighing the morning Matt caught his taxi to the airport..."DO YOU LOVE ME?" he screamed...gimma a break.
And remember...Scott Peterson had friends too....like Duh!

I never said he did't do it... but the last time I checked... in this coutry... we are innocent until proven guilty... like Duh!

This particular piece of shit pled guilty today. I was at the vigil in Fair Oaks Park where he tried to mislead the whole neighborhood. No excuses now--he goes in the hole for at least 25 years. If we're lucky, he'll die in prison.
