The Office Suggestion Box

Gravatar Self preservation. But she does have spirit too doesn't she? At least she "helped" get the bathroom clean!

Gravatar I think it's just human nature to want to please people, and she knew that if she told the truth you'd be angry. At least that's how I like to look at it!

Gravatar I don't think it's a natural inclination to LIE, per say, but more a natural inclination to NOT GET IN TROUBLE!

Gravatar I think lying is innate. We don't want to get into trouble, so we stretch the truth a little bit.

Gravatar Lying is a funny word for young kids. Maybe in her mind she wasn't "playing" she was cleaning. But to answer your question, I think lying is innate as well. We use it in so many ways becuase the truth can be painful.

Gravatar I think lying is innate. It is an instinct to want to stay out of trouble so we make decisions and tell little lies to get out of getting in trouble. Self-protection. But, the first time my child lies to me, it will break my heart.

Gravatar First time I caught LittleJuJu in a lie, he was three. He was only allowed to have his binky in bed at night and I saw him with it in his mouth in the living room. When he noticed me, he grabbed it and hid it behind his back. When I asked him what he had behind him, he said "nothing". It broke me heart into a million peices. I never knew why or how it started for him, but he is honest when forced to be

Gravatar I don't know if these things are natural or if they learn from not just us but people around us and TV. Whether we realize it or not, they pick up stuff all over the place. Or maybe she got the idea to play with soap after you asked her the question? I've noticed that sometimes me saying something to someone else all of a sudden gives Faith ideas to start messing with stuff.

Gravatar perhaps she has gotten in trouble before when she has told the truth? and i am thinking conditioning? just a guess.

Gravatar I wish I knew. Killian lies to me a lot and I know he is but am to shocked to really belive my baby could do that to his beloved mommy. Yet I know there was no way in hell his two year old sister pulled that chair over, knocked over the vase climbing on the counter and ate all the cookies and fruit rollups. Especially when he was the one popping rainbow colors all day, but his favorite saying is "Sissy did it".

Gravatar Cori we are 11 years apart so that makes him 40 We started dating when I was 20

Gravatar yes, I absolutely 100% believe that lying is natural. A pain in the butt, but natural. And some kids are so much more likely to do it. Two of my kids are honest to a fault. One will lie about anything, just to see what your reaction is.

And, yep, Chaotic Hubby is 5 years older than me. With as sheltered as I was raised, and with the wild life he led, we joke and say that we could have been born decades apart. How far apart are you and your hubby?
