One day when Vivian was an infant and Isaac was a complete maniac at 16 months old, I finally got them both strapped into their carseats and then I was so exhausted at just that effort that I went back inside and read a magazine. For probably 20-30 miutes I left them outside in the car (in our driveway, of course). Probably not the best mothering. But it saved my sanity.
Hope things are better for you tomorrow!

I started laughing when I read your post today. Not because it is funny...but because I think we must be living the same life (just on opposite sides of the country)! I am serious when I tell you that I told my husband yesterday that I was going to leave and not come back! (Of course, I was only joking.) My husband quickly said, "No you're not! You're staying and I'm leaving!" We just laughed. My daughter is also having a hard time with the transition of having a new baby in the house. We have been very careful to include her in everything with the baby (feeding, bathing, changing diapers, etc.) I think she just realizes she doesn't get our undivided attention anymore. Now she has to "share" our attention with the baby. I hope she finds "her place" again.

back when Grace (my daughter, turning one on May 1st) was about 3-4 weeks old..I told my husband that I thought occasionally that it might be nice if I could just walk out of my life.. So, no..it's not terrible.. It's just the effects of stress..the stress and emotions of a new baby PLUS trying to keep the transition for the older sister smooth..You have a lot on your plate! We both had thrush once..NOT FUN! I hope things settle down soon!! Maybe you and Julia can get a special day for the two of you soon! Maybe lunch with just the two girls or a movie date. She'd love that I bet! Having you to herself for a few hours..

I used to want to drive away and leave the entire family behind! I just needed some quiet and down time. Hang in there, and make sure you're getting what you need, sleep, food, a large martini(!) LOL!
Little Julia just doesn't understand it all. Try involving her in "helping you" with the baby. Even if you express some milk and put it in a bottle for Julia to feed to the baby. Anything fun. And everyday remember to do something fun, just with Julia. I came along 5 years after my sister and our mother flipped out. My sis was put in the position of taking care of me. She said at first she hated me, but then I became her baby. I still am. Lucky me!

I know what you mean about bad days and just wanting to get away! Don't feel bad- we all go through it. I hope that your week gets better. Hang in there.

Nope...seems pretty normal to feel that way sometimes. It's completely understandable how Julia feels...she had you to herself for 4 years. My twins had a bit of a hard time, too. They were also 4 when I had my youngest.
Thrush? What fun! Poor kid.

Wanting to just take off in your car is not terrible, it's perfectly normal! I've been there more times than I care to admit. Hopefully you can all get some rest over there and things will seem a lot better!

Aww Sweety, sounds like some hard times right now despite the joy of a new little one in the house. I'm sure there is some sort of adjustment period needed for all and truly believe things will get better. Hope you are finding the rest you need and I'm thinking of you!!
