I'm glad your daughter is ok. As for me, I vowed that we would never go back to the ER unless somebody is bleeding profusely and we're being transported in an ambulance!!
With our first child, he was about 1 and had a really high fever with red dots on his body. Being first time parents, we got worried and it was a weekend, so what did we do...we took him to the ER. The ER doctors didn't know what the heck it was and needed to take some blood for testing.
After many fail attempts to find his veins, 4 nurses were holding him down while I was bawling my eyes out, and the doctor finally got some blood for the tests.
So needless to say, it was just a cold and those red dots was just part of the cold. Our pediatrician told us the day after that all they could have done was taking some blood on the finger and check for the white blood cell count.
The other tip also is get a pediatrician nurse from the hospital to come down and help. They are better at it since it's their specialty. Sorry this is a long comment, but 3 kids later and knock on wood we haven't had the need to go to the ER room again.

Believe me, taking her to the ER beats staying up all night worrying. You did the right thing.
