Gravatar I just saw the blogpoll test, and I noticed that Temple is ranked.

TEMPLE?

Is Bill Cosby one of the pollsters? Hell, the players' moms wouldn't vote for Temple in the Top 25.

What's up with that? Was that just a gag as part of the test?

Gravatar Hey, Duke got a vote in the real one.

I've entered a bunch of wonky data since right now data is data. All the current votes are getting dropped in a week, it shouldn't affect things. And if someone votes for Temple they'll get called out and mocked.

Gravatar which is why all polls (including this one) should wait until 3-4 weeks into the season for their first vote...let things hash out a bit.

Gravatar I think it is too early to tell as well.

Most of the teams that were great in the SEC (my turf) last year, like Auburn, are going to be fielding players that are largely untested. Mississippi State could suprise everyone this year. Florida and South Carolina are both taking the field under new coaches that are implementing a new system with players used to an old system, so there is always that bit of unknown.

LIke John B. said, wait until the teams have played someone other than themselves.

Gravatar I figured I'd list four teams, two of which I think are ranked too high, one that should be ranked but isn't, and one that could be a sleeper that is currently unranked.

Overrated: Tennessee, Oklahoma
Underrated: Bowling Green
Sleeper: Wyoming

It's all over the map, and I resisted the urge to make a case for ranking Wisconsin because I don't think it's merited right now.

You'll have to click the link to read the rest of my thoughts.

Gravatar BC is ranked right where they should be. Georgia should be around 23-25. Georgia Tech shouldn't be ranked. Neither should Pitt. Notre Dame should be about 21 or so. They'll finish the season in the top 20.

Gravatar Bruce, I think you missed the point of the question. The idea is to actually put a number ranking by a team and defend it rather than saying that a team is overrated or underrated.

In other words, if you think Tennessee should be ranked lower than 3 or Oklahoma lower than 5, what number would you rank them at?

If you think Bowling Green and Wyoming should be ranked, where do you rank them?

Gravatar Gonna be a little late this week. That new job which I mentioned on my site is already kicking my ass.

Gravatar First of all LSU is the best in the SEC and here is why =
Russell proven under pressure with unlimited talent surronded by thre quality running back of Addai, Brousard, and Vincent which was the SEC MVP and Sugar Bowl MVP. Then he has speed, speed, and more speed at wide reciever. A returing all of the offensive line. Seven returning starters on defense with new coach who jus so happen coached Nebraska and Oklahoma's defense. Need I say more... ok, Pittman, Prude, and Landry come in probably the best Lineman, cornerback, and safty in the country. I'm done LSU vs USC national championship rematch for 2003 debacle.

Gravatar My answers are up:
http://sectionsix.blogspot.com/2...undtable- v.html

It ended up being longer than I thought, so I kept it to three teams: Alabama, NC State, and FSU.

Gravatar #2 texas
#13 Oklahoma
#16 Texas A&M
#23 texas tech
#25 Colorado

My explanations are up at my site....it got a little longer than I was anticipating

Gravatar Where BG should be ranked, why they should be ranked, and what will Tom Amstutz eat next?

All right here!

Gravatar I think Section Six convinced me about NC State at the tail end. And I was already going to put BG somewhere in there.

Gravatar "Bruce, I think you missed the point of the question. The idea is to actually put a number ranking by a team and defend it rather than saying that a team is overrated or underrated."

Yeah, it helps if I actually read the question. The fixes have been made.

Gravatar As a Californian, USC is #1 and Cal #21. Now to the WAC, Fresno State and Boise State can both make cases for the top 25, but I rank them just outside. Click my homepage for more detail.

Gravatar We're thrilled that Florida's lurking at 11, if only because we're not starting with a new coach ranked in the top 10. Good luck, Les!

Gravatar I'm not sure the trackback worked, so let's do this thing manual-style:

BG: somewhere between 18-23
tOSU: somewhere between 9-13
Kent State: unranked, not good enough to even think about being ranked, but a lot better than you think.
