The last time Michigan traveled to the South for a nonconference game was 1985 vs. South Carolina. It won convincingly, 34-3. But as I recall, the team was pretty wiped out by the end of the game. It was steamy and sweltering weather.

Beer pong. My god. I am so proud of our boys.

I'd be willing to bet that Spack's offer came from PSU. Their DC is going to replace JoePa, and I would not be at all surprised if that happened soon after signing day... that leaves them knowing they need a new DC, and they've known it for long enough to make this sort of move... unlike Michigan.

Timing makes no sense for Michigan. Coaching changes at Michigan generally follow a variety of coach meetings, which usually can't happen until after signing day. (The coaches spend too much time on the road in January.)

I'm intrigued to see that Brown Jug was the sponsor... I would have expected it to be Touchdown's, since they, you know, actually have beer pong tournaments and stuff.

Also, is Mitch's ever gonna open again? Ever? Please?

And on the topic of booze, here's another good football drinking game (although not specifically a college gameday one): whenever the priority score alert flashes at the bottom of the screen, you have to call TD or FG. If you lose, you drink. Safeties and mixed extra points are socials. Or, if you really want to get wasted, drink 1 for a FG and 2 for a TD.

For basketball, I recommend Dunk&Drunk, which is as simple as it sounds: when someone dunks, you drink. Works better with NBA games.

Last comment: I, too, would love to see a home&home against the 'Dawgs, the Gators, the Sooners, and the blasted Tarheels, who we somehow are 1-2 against all-time.

Gravatar Why can't we make a million-dollar, last-ditch, other-hyphenated-adjective play for Mike Trgovac to be our DC.

We need him. Now.

Brian,

I commented on Kyle's site regarding the home and home. Is it really true that we want to play ND less? WHY?!

Gravatar Is it really true that we want to play ND less? WHY?!

Because Fielding Yost is anti-Catholic.

Gravatar Ben-

We're dumping ND games for the same reasons ND dropped BC from its schedule, we're getting sick of losing to them.

So we'll disappear for ten years, come back and play them then, and hope they don't realize we're still running the same game plan...

I'm sure the change also has to do with recruiting. I'm sure they'd love to play few more games in the areas where they recruit heavily. Can't do that in SB.

We'll see what they do. I hope they keep ND on the schedule, especially now that Weis is there. When we beat them its gonna look a lot better to the pollsters who have already annoited Weis as football's greatest coach, ever. And, as an added bonus, we'd shut up the ND bandwagon for at least a season.

That being said, if we have to dump ND, I pray we grab a GOOD southern school and not some also ran from the former southwest conference...

Gravatar Say what you want about his managerial skills, but Bill Martin's a good guy. He gave my friend a ride home from the airport once, he spent 15 minutes talking to my friends outside of Camp Randall stadium while being harassed and abused by the Wisconsin fans, and he has actually responded personally to both of the e-mails I've written him.

Gravatar I don't know why we help ND make their schedule out by keeping them on ours. If they want to play us, let them join the Big 10. I would like us to do what Ohio State is doing (did I say that?). They are adding home and homes with the likes of Texas, USC, Miami FL, Washington, NC State.

I am all for a rotation of big name teams, but Georgia doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Gravatar I think it's a mistake to take ND off the schedule.

I'd rather see another solid home and home in conjunction.

I don't know if I could stand going out on a losing streak to ND and then not playing them for a decade.

Seriously.

Gravatar Mitch's, well thats a name i haven't heard in a longtime. The last time i was there, Artest went Brawlistic at the palace.

Also i guess our twelfth game could be against a SEC powerhouse, LSU/Bama/Auburn or even big pumpkin's team. Oh wait that's what we did this year, open our year against a "great southern team".

Gravatar As for me, I'd be happy if Bama and Penn State could restart their '80s hatefest. One of my favorite football memories was from the '89 game. Penn State drives well inside Bama territory for a sure-fire goddamn game-winning field goal. Antonio London blocks the hell out of that shit. Bama wins. I run outside, screaming while running around my lawn. Good times.

Gravatar Oh, and Carolina will always pull a punk performance in the regular season. In '84 the Gamecocks were No. 2 in the nation, undefeated, and managed to drop their game against Navy. It's in the cards.
