Great news. Henne & Co. only have to hold it together without him for two weeks. There's no way we lose to Northwestern, Indiana, or Ball State. Get throug these two guys. We can do this!

This news, coupled with the news that Ecker will likely be available for the PSU game has really kicked in the "let's go kick some ***" adrenaline. I can't imagine how the team feels right now. Great stuff.

This is the time when the team really proves they are worthy of their ranking. We have played like it so far, and if some of the better named freshmen can make some plays, then Mario can have plenty of time to rest.

I guess he isn't Superman after all...just Super Mario. Henne will miss him badly, but as long as they have him back for O$U then they should be fine.

IF we can win these two, it will turn out to be such a big positive, because the rest of the receiving corp will battled tested. Hopefully AA, Breaston, Matthews or Tabb will make great strides.

Unrelated: Good pick on espn football home. Minor looks out of breath, look how excited Henne is. Oh yeah and another who is #2 for 1,000,000th time this week.

My depression is fading. Living in Columbus makes this more difficult but all the same it is happening. This can make this team all the more stronger.(with victories the next two weeks) Columbus fans fear Mario.

Definitely good news. Personally, I think the opportunity to win without Manningham will do a lot for the team. And make the game a little more interesting.
Also, we all complain about the NSA levels of secrecy at Michigan regarding injuries, but this is an example of it paying dividends with paranoid Joe Paterno not really knowing for sure if he won't play.

I wonder if we can put someone similar in height & weight in the #86 jersey and have him stretching and running routes beforehand. That'll show those pesky whiteout fans.
There's a 5th year safety named Mike Carl who appears to be close in height and weight.
While we're at it, why don't we do the same with Antonio Bass. Could you imagine if we had a #18 and #86 on the field both for the first play? Paterno would run for the bathroom faster than the second half of an OSU game.

penn state is spending extra time in practice this week with their best players mimicking Mario, they are designing their entire defensive gameplan around him. bottom line: they will be ready to STOP MARIO this Saturday

Sounds like Penn State will no doubt be in good position to at least contain our star receiver and, perhaps, hold him without a touchdown in the game. I hope Chad is ready to adapt to what could possibly be Mario's inability to shake the coverage. Check downs to Breaston and Hart have to made decisively. If our star QB steps up, we may just win this game.

I still have this scenario replaying over & over in my mind:
the PSU team comes out of the tunnel Sat. to roaring cheers...followed by the subsquent boos for the UM team. Then about 3-5 min later, after the crowd settles a bit, we see a slender player in maize & blue steak out of the tunnel...WEARING THE #1. It's MM, baby....the crowd is very unsettled as #1 steaks to midfield and gives all 4 sides of the stadium the Pete Weber-hip-blast manuver. Boos rain down....
Tell me that wouldn't be the most bad-ass thing EVER!

I don't want Mario to levitate dishes, just magnetically attract footballs. And tack on another 6 to a 16 point lead.

I'm envisioning another more negative scenario on this game (even though I now have some small modicum of hope, instilled by Brian's thoughful observations)...
Penn State gets the ball first... first play, everyone expecting conservative JoePa to run... play action bomb... announcer, "And he's **wide open**!!" camera pans downfield to show Williams a good 15 yards behind stumbling UM DB... PSU jumps out to 7-0 lead within minutes of kickoff... Happy Valley going bat-shit...
Go Blue...
