Gravatar Tennesee is garbage... they will lose at Cal and go down from there. Ainge is mediocre and they have lost a lot of skill talent.

Rutgers won't relive the same success as last year. That was a special year and they won't sneak up on anybody this time.

South Carolina, Ohio State, Southern Cal (yes, I know they're #1, but until it is unanimous, it's understated, just give them the trophy now)

Vastly underrated:
Boise State, Wake Forest

Gravatar No one is more overrated than Wisconsin. No one. Dear God, someone voted them #1?!?!?! When is the last time Wisconsin beat even a good team? Please. Not far behind is West Virginia. They are all hype and no substance. They wouldn't last five minutes in a real conference.

Gravatar Overrated: Oklahoma. Issue at QB, Should have at least 2 conference losses that pull them down.

Overrated: Florida. This team won a number of close games last year with a veteran defense and senior leadership at QB. I expect a big step back this year, especially because they lack a proven RB.

Underrated: TCU and Boise State. I think these are 10 win teams

Underrated: Iowa. Without OSU and Michigan on the schedule, this team goes 9-3. That gets you ranked.

Gravatar Seriously struggling with the Enlightened Spartan giving the Badgers the #1 spot. I mean, is that just to get in the collective big ten elite craw?

See? Not all of us S.E.C. homers are impervious to evidence.

Heck, I'm even slow and I adhere to high academic standards. . . .

Gravatar Two somewhat strange and somewhat funny things I noticed to come out of Buckeye land and the Cleveland Plain Dealer. OSU has a 28 year old former pro rugby player from South Africa as their place kicker. Also, Playboy has the Bucks ranked 3rd and Tressel is somewhat embarassed to mention Playboy.

Gravatar We got into this a little bit today, and ESPN via the DetNews put out an underrated/overrated list going back 10 years which we discussed today on our blog. http://collegefootblog.blogspot....- overrated.html

This year, off the top of my head:

Overrated
Wisconsin
West Virginia
Tennessee
South Carolina
Hawaii

Underrated
Nebraska
Boise State

Gravatar On espn Mark May predicted to everyone’s complete and total shock that Michigan would lose to Wisconsin in the big tens marquee match up and while we know Mark May is quite possibly the biggest douche with a goatee featured on espn (pause to fume) he sighted as his reason for a badger victory the running prowess of big ten freshman of the year P.J. Hill. Despite the fact Michigan has a history of being able to handle larger backs, despite the fact that their secondary hasn’t found a solution for #86 and despite the fact we were the only solid team they played last year and we beat the snot out of them. Keeping in mind the final score really did nothing to put into perspective Michigan’s dominance over a somewhat inferior team.

Net yards rushing - 12
average gain on rush - .4
P.J. Hill rushing touchdowns - 0
Mario Manningham TD’s - 2 (making it look nice and easy)

Even though Michigan turned over the ball three times to Wisconsin’s one, even though Wisconsin had a senior quarterback they were unable to come away with a victory. This is a team that barely beat a poor Iowa team and squeaked by Illinois. Someone please explain to me why unless Michigan shoots themselves in the foot anyone is giving them a chance in hell of beating a team loaded at almost every skill position on offense and a great deal of talent on defense. I must know!

Gravatar Overrated: USC. Only because I don't think it's humanly possible to rate them any higher than they are going into this season. I don't think I've seen a single "expert" who hasn't put them in the BCS title game.

Gravatar If we have not heard back after numerous emails including a ballot submission is it safe to say that we did not qulify for this year's blogpoll?

Gravatar "Someone please explain to me why unless Michigan shoots themselves in the foot anyone is giving them a chance in hell of beating a team loaded at almost every skill position on offense and a great deal of talent on defense. I must know!"

The game is in Madison. Weird shit can happen when you're not at home, and there are a number of losses on the road to teams with less talent than Wisconsin over the last 12 years. That certainly doesn't mean that Wisky is guaranteed to win, but to say they have no chance to beat Michigan ignores history.

I have to concur. Camp Randall Stadium is a loud and hostile venue, especially at night when our game will likely take place. Michigan has goen in there more highly ranked and lost before. I still predict a UM victory but it is the scariest game on the schedule.

Gravatar DanK,

Are "+1s" allowed in these comments? Yours certainly deserves one.

Gravatar Gnarls,

hey, if brian allows it, i'll take what i can get.

Gravatar I'll admit that Wisconsin is a potential stumbling block, but Michigan has lost at Camp Randall only four times (three if you omit the Year of Infinite Pain and the QB Draw of Infinite Improbability), and I don't think this year is the year we get our fifth. Wisconsin looked downright average against us last year and Wisconsin's biggest strength (its power run game) is the one area of the defense I am not particularly concerned with.

Gravatar Here's mine, for what it's worth.

overrated/underrated

Gravatar I can't even imagine how cold Madison will be at night in mid-November.

Gravatar Big Jon, we also haven't heard back after a few emails. I guess we didn't qualify for the BlogPoll either....

Gravatar OK ColoradoBlue, you may be right on the too too cold November evening in Madison. Even cheeseheads are subject to frostbite. The kickoff schedule on UW-UM is not out as of the last time I checked so it well could be an afternoon game. Brats. Beer. Jump around. OSU the following week. Still scary.

Gravatar Err, my rather lengthy somewhat rambling comments ended up in a separate comment section revealed only by clicking on this post headline.

I’ll spare everyone from re-entering it here.

As far as the UW-Mich game goes. If you want to worry about this game, here's what should bug you: The Wisconsin team Mich faced last year wasn't nearly as good as the one that ended the season. PJ Hill is back healthy after a shoulder injury severly sapped his power. Jack Ikegquonu is probably the best returning CB in the conference, and will probably be following Manningham around wherever he goes. The receivers, very very young last time they faced Mich, have a year of seasoning under them and Stocco wasn't irreplaceable at QB. Oh, and it's in Madison.

Got to feel Mich is the favorite, but it probably won't be a walk in the park. Seems like the scariest game for the Maze and Blue.
