The U.S. Army AA game has Cissoko (he's supposed to reannounce for us), McGuffie, Brandon Smith (announcing at the game, timing probably bad for us), Pryor (was supposedly wearing a Michigan shirt. 97% chance he's messing with us), Nic Perry (no one can figure him out), and like 65,000 Notre Dame recruits.
2 pt conversion was one of those goofy offset line plays. It was weird. Line was at the left hash, kicker, center and 1 blocker lined up between right hash & center. Direct snap to kicker; kicker ran right.

The ESPN game has Spencer Adams (not sure what chance Michigan has anymore), Christian Wilson, Stonum, Brandon Moore and Dann O'Neill.
If memory serves, Oregon runs a version of the swinging gate, so if they saw that their opponent wasn't taking the two point conversion attempt possibility seriously they probably just pulled the trigger and hiked it to the kicker, who then ran it in.

In the over 20 years that I have been watching/rooting for/living and dying with this team, this is, far and away, the most pessmistic I have been heading into a game. Honestly, can anyone remember a game in the last quarter century (or maybe significantly longer) when it could reasonbly be predicted that we would lose by 30 or more? Sure, you can point out the TN bowl game and maybe the FSU game in 1991 as blowouts we should have seen coming, but were they even remotely as obvious as this one? Didn't we all at least think we had a chance going into those games?
In a bizarre way, the fact that it looks like we have so little chance of even keeping this close makes me kind of think we will pull it out, which, in turn, makes me think we will lose by even more, creating an infinitely regressive spiral of pain, despair and hopelessness.

If Carr put as much effort into winning this game as he did the Miles hack job, we'd be talking about a Michigan blowout win. I'm just glad I'll never see him coach another game after tomorrow. Good riddance.
People are still bitter about Miles? Really? We got Rich freaking Rodriguez. And, for the record, none of the "Carr is sabotaging stuff" things was ever confirmed as far as I know.
I might be too optimistic, but I think Pryor has a few good reasons to pick Michigan over Ohio State (assuming he doesn't go to Florida or Oregon). Tressel is known as a good coach, but Rod's style seems to fit Pryor better. Didn't Tressel visit West Virginia to learn some of Rod's style? Additionally, if Michigan did well with Pryor throwing, he would get more attention than at Ohio State. They've been in the national championship game two years in a row, so doing anything well would seem normal. If he led Michigan to a brilliant season, he would probably get the sort of attention that Dixon got this year (before he got hurt). Another factor: Ohio State starts a home/away series with USC next year.
I'm bitter about the Miles thing. It's so much easier to hate him. Turning Rodriguez into the Antichrist in the offseason is something I actually have to put work into.

It would give him attention, but if Ohio State loses (which is a real possibility assuming lots of them leave this year) then he wouldn't seem nearly as badass (assuming he starts if he goes to tOSU).
I don't think Ohio State is going to beat USC on their "home" turf in 2008.

I'm sure Martin asked himself that question lots of times... I read a couple of articles that implied Burnett's style consisted of lots of browbeating/yelling/screaming, and that Borseth's practices are less relentlessly negative. Nothing intrinsically wrong with browbeating/yelling/screaming, but it needs to be balanced with a more positive and encouraging form of teaching, too. That doesn't answer why it was successful at SWMSU but not at UM, though.
Tenuta's defense is getting shredded by Fresno State. Fresno doing a good job picking up blitzes and throwing screens. Thoughts?
No chance Pryor starts in 2008 here at any rate. But 2009 has possibilities.
I'll wait to evaluate our chances against USC until I see how we play with LSU and who goes in the draft.

Bass healthy + MM & AA returning = crazy wet dream-land, but it's not going to happen. Bass is iffy at best, MM's ever so gone, and AA is apparently rating well with NFL scouts. Hemingway and the rest of the WR platoon will be needed next year.

South Florida has beaten RichRod two years in a row...but in this game a tall and lanky immobile white dude is doing a credible job of running the spread offense in a completely different fashion than WVU's zone read attack...and the Ducks are up by two scores early in the 3rd quarter.
I'm liking what I see...UO today could be Michigan next season assuming Mallett stays and wins the starting gig.
It would be so fitting for Bizarro Year to (almost) end with Michigan beating the team that should be their kryptonite. But it's not going to happen unless Henne is 100%, and even then it's quite improbable. (And unlike MSU, Michigan does not specialize in the wildly improbable. With very few exceptions, they win the games they are supposed to and lose the games they are supposed to.) If Mallett gets any playing time at all, this will make last year's MNC look close.

That would be quite the brilliant maneuver for Neuheisel. Getting Loeffler would do a lot for RN's credibility in my eyes, since it's unlikely Scot would coach under someone he doesn't respect. And it would be a huge boon for UCLA recruiting, undoubtedly. If not Mallett, then whoever the next great pocket passer is.
Plus, I hear Loeffler is pretty good in march madness pools. So that's a plus for Slick Rick.

Orgeron is supposedly a great recruiter and has coached an amazing number of All-Americans on the D-line at Miami Fla and USC. He's a bit on the crazy side and has some criminal justice skeletons in his past, and it's hard for me to picture him in AA. We'd see the end of ineffective d-line play, though.

Mallett requesting his papers is no surprise. Doesn't mean anything other than he's preparing for the possibility in case his sitdown with RichRod doesn't go well enough.
While support from Buckeye fans is appreciated, one thing the 2002 OSU team had that gave them hope was their defense. Michigan fans don't have that as a hope, they basically have to hope the Michigan offense gets some big plays.

Seems that the first "gimmick" spread offense to make it to the Big Ten seemed to work out pretty well for him. How many 4,000 yard seasons in the pros does he want to emulate? Maybe the league eventually catches on, but it's not like the Big Ten is known for being ahead of the curve. Can you really see the Big Ten being where the spread came to die because the d coordinators were better than everywhere else?
Unless the exclusive Pryor or Mallett rumors are true and then send Mallett tapes of Gutz, Dreisbach, Griese, Grbac, T. Collins, and Brady in the pros. As Mark May says, if he wants to be in the pros he needs to transfer now to a pro style offense. He's always right.

For example, I myself was calling the title game before the beginning of the season (THIS SEASON!). Illinois almost crushed me, but then we saw how things turned out. A week after the loss I was diagramming how we would make our title run for non-believers (my family is made up of Domers. Schadenfreude is all they have left). My point? Even if it's insane, just believe in your team. Sometimes it even pays off. Beat Florida.

We had some heated drunken debates last night among the MSU-UM students and fans from high school. Every time Appalachian State was brought up, it was defended (mostly by me, and ineffectively at that) as a loss to a national champion. MSU lost to D2 GVSU, and not even a very good GVSU team at that. God, some funny shit was said last night and I just wish I could remember it.
I may be mistaken, but I believe Carmen O has been visiting this board longer than most people currently posting on it. On top of that, he doesn't tend to start flame wars.
And as for the current flame that started, it was because people used tOSU. Plenty of Michigan fans use that on this board. As for the 'M*ch*gan,' I could go without that but whatever.

I'd have to agree. If Mizzou singles out McFadden, Arkansas doesn't stand a chance. Wisc and Tenn have slightly better balance, evenly matched, and their game is less affected by coaching changes.
I think Wiscy/Tenny is probably better, but I really enjoy McFadden.
