bygones

Gravatar Damnit, just keeps getting worse for B-Ball.

First I hope.

Gravatar This kind of garbage with the bball team is going to keep Pryor away from UM.

Gravatar I blame Tommy Amaker.

Don't give up on M bball yet.

Gravatar You mean the no-talent version of Eric Devendorf?

Gravatar this team may not win another game all year

Gravatar This is not a loss for the team from what I have seen. K'len has more air balls this year than made baskets and doesn't play very good defense either. I don't want to be mean to the kid, but him not being on the court makes this team better.

Gravatar Drew like firsting

Gravatar UM won't win another game because we lost K'len Morris? C'mon!

B is one of the best coaches in the country but he's a system coach a la Larry Brown, not a motivator like Coach K. His system is complex but he'll straighten things out.

Can't wait to hear the same things about Rod next year in football. These guys need some time to implemnet their systems but once they do watch out. Thankfully, their track records have proven that they don't need A LOT of time!

Gravatar Pretty sure bsb was being sarcastic.

Gravatar Although UM may not win another game all year, with or without Special K.

Gravatar What is the Reggie Benton reference? Is he refrencing the last Grand Blanc Bobcat to "hit it big" at UofM before K'Len? Eventual drop-out Reggie Benton.

Gravatar Seriously, easy on the pessimism.

"This kind of garbage with the bball team is going to keep Pryor away from UM."

Garbage? So a reserve player has some personal issues that he needs to work out and decides to transfer to a different school to be closer to his family? Wow must mean Pryor wouldn't go to a majority of schools, because they have players that transfer too.

"We may not win another game all year."

Yep, those 2.2 points per game we'll be missing are really going to make it impossible to win. Good God.

Gravatar Brian,

Surprised you (or anyone for that matter) thinks this is a loss. So far in two years, he has been a total non-factor. I had already chalked him up as the next Gavin Groninger.

Gravatar Well, now it's more like Leland Anderson.

Gravatar Somewhere, in my mind, Gavin Groninger just scored .8 points in 12 minutes of playing time.

Gravatar man people take things literally around here

Gravatar I mean, he was medically redshirted last year, so obviously he wasn't going to contribute. This season he had shown some progress, and he looked to be able to be able to contribute in the future. This just means that Beilein can get more of his style guys into the program in '09. This season was a lost cause anyway as far as wins go, and we should all be excited about seeing improvement throughout the season.

Gravatar Boring. Beilein has absolutely nothing to work with. Unlike RR, this poor guy needs time.

Let's talk football. Michael Williams was recruited as a nickelback. Can he bulk up to safety?

Gravatar i hope that all is well with morris and his family, but, honestly i think none of michigan's sm/forward-type players [coleman, shepherd, wright, morris] have so far shown anything---

Gravatar Someone jacked my handle.

Gravatar whatever happened to reggie benton?
i forgot about him

Gravatar Drew,

I'm sure "Drew" isn't a popular name or anything. Here's what you do, paint flames on the side of the minivan, maybe a big #18 on the side. You're getting me.

Gravatar At least this opens up a scholarship for a player that will fit Belien's sysyem

Gravatar Is there a blog/other place where I can get a break down of the basketball team? I have no idea about any of them. I hear Udoh is blocking a ton of shots.

Gravatar K'Len Morris/Reggie Benton = white guys with black-sounding names who left school early.

This doesn't bother me. Laval Lucas-Perry was going to take his minutes next year anyway.

Gravatar MDan,
We were talking football in a previous thread, but I went out grabbed lunch and see a new thread, so I dont know the protocol.

When the last thread left off, there was the age old Brady-Hensen debate going on.....sure, its a nice argument, but it has nothing on the Micheal Taylor-Demetrius Brown arguments we had back in the late 1980s.

Gravatar hat,

Not a biggie but I thought that Reggie Benton actually was black (not that it matters). If not, maybe that proves the point.

Gravatar "but it has nothing on the Micheal Taylor-Demetrius Brown arguments we had back in the late 1980s."

^^Yeah...and how about the Chris Perry-Demetrius Underwood argu--

Oh, wait. Nevermind.

Gravatar Udoh leads the Big Ten in blocks.

Gravatar Chill,
I remember being at the Western game in 2001 totally excited to watch Underwood play. We had his name highlighted on our roster. Good times!

Gravatar Big Ten Network has a good stats page at

http://www.bigtennetwork.com/spo.../ mbkleaders.asp

Udoh leads the Big Ten in blocks per game, Manny Harris is second in turnovers per game.

Gravatar i'd vote to keep the threads on topic. no big deal to use lower threads...i just posted an interesting thought experiment re:henson/brady down there. plus, it keeps trolls away....they only lurk in the top threads.

hoops....morris is a poor mans Ron Coleman. coleman contributed significantly his 1st year. his production dropped off b/c it wasn't needed the last 2 years.

Gravatar Wow. These two WVU clips are faaaaaantastic!:

http://www.sundaymorningqb.com/s...12/18/10846/ 675

In the first: The "Bye bye, Richie...May you burn as this schedule does" comment is out-of-control hilarious.

In the second clip, this comment:

"This is where we start...I don't have a couch here with me to burn, so..."

Followed by:

"I hope you love the GOLD AND BLUE of Michigan...because you will never find any love like you found in west virginia."

^^For any Bill Simmons readers out there, this is some quality unintentional comedy.

Gravatar And at the end of the 2nd clip, I love the whole "West Virginia Football: We Will Survive" text that flashes across the screen. Amazing.

Gravatar Reggie can be found at bars around grand blanc. He had short stints at Purdue and grand rapids cc after michigan. He never actually enrolled at michigan, seeing that he failed to graduate at GB.

Gravatar that's awesome

Gravatar Awesome indeed.

And, just wondering:

"I hope you love the GOLD AND BLUE of Michigan...because you will never find any love like you found in west virginia."

^^Is that Hillbilly love?

Gravatar Kurt, Reggie Benton is white. I'm positive about that.

Gravatar I went to high school with Benton. They tried everything they could to get him to graduate. Dude didn't have to do shit. He was definitely white.

Gravatar This one is especially good:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zBL2FaLG0Ck

A little long, but full of all kinds of crazy. He misspells throughout the clip, so it is worth watching. And his description of the clip is priceless:

"My little farewell to the 2 faced bastart that i hope dies, names RICH RODRIGUEZ"

Gravatar It's my dick in a box!

Gravatar Brian -- First, thanks for getting back into some basketball posts. Although the team has had some rough times this year, at least they have been entertaining to watch. Belien inherited a far different system from the one that RR is walking into.

I fail to see how losing Morris is a big deal though... he has shown a bit of improvement this year, but I don't see him ever becoming a major contributer.

Yesterday's recruiting news seems to have a potential for much more impact.

Gravatar This is a good start now let's get Doughboy Jerret, Tiny Wright, and Airball Canada out of here also.

Gravatar I had thought Reggie Benton went to Iowa? I do remember him as a recruit, though. Everyone was excited to get the first "white" running back in quite some time. He is by no means on par with Sam McGuffie, but he did get some hype when we recruited him.

Gravatar Take it a little easy on the WVU folks. They had big dreams of RR taking their program to permanent national prominence, competing with the likes of UM, USC, UF, etc. every year.

They've had the rug pulled out from under them, and are terrified of falling back into mediocrity/irrelevance. It's been quite a blow to their collective egos.

They will likely struggle for a few years, but they will be back. Let's not kick them while they're down.

Gravatar (pause) (pause) (pause)
"OK, apparently it doesn't wanna burn. Hode on a minnit".

Classic!

Gravatar This opens up a scholarship for Alex Legion...

Gravatar Laval Lucas-Perry to transfer to Michigan from AZ (story on MLIVE)

Gravatar From what I have seen of K'len, he is awful both offensively and defensively. Basically, he's the white version of Jerret Smith (or any other player who has no business in D-I basketball).

Gravatar I went to school with both Regis Benton and K'len Morris. I was a freshmen when Regis was a senior and a senior when K'len was a freshmen. My observations:

-Both white, thats where it ends.

-K'len Morris was a very good high school player, no business whatsoever playing D1 ball. ZERO BUSINESS. Zack Gibson (another bobcat) as well...shows how bad Michigan bball is I guess.

-Regis Benton, an absolute physical specimen. 6'2" 200 lbs, ran like a 4.4. This guy was just disgusting. He usually just ran past people but could also run most if not all HS guys over. Maybe not as good as Mcguffie but damn near close.

-However, he was a complete meat head, and didnt graduate...absolutely no excuse for that. Oop oh well.

I'm out like K'len.

Gravatar K'len hangs out in Grand Blanc. he didn't move to tennessee. come check it out another gb alum that just couldnt cut it.
