Gravatar Second

Gravatar I loves me the big lebowski reference...

seriously tragic about C.Graham's sister and her daughter though... we'll probably make a donation tonight or tomorrow.

Gravatar chris graham is a great guy. we weren't by any means best friends but did know each other. he's a real good guy and i definitely feel for him. terrible news...

Gravatar Sad news about Graham.

Gravatar Graham was frustratiing to watch but i loved how little he was and still played hard (he's unstoppable on NCAA '05 or '06). i hope he gets a shot at the pros so he can help his neice out.

Gravatar FIRST!

Gravatar Sorry to hear about CGraham. I hated the way he got constantly got hung out to dry against WRs this past season.

Gravatar I hope the Graham family can recover from this tragedy soon, and we're all able to chip in a little to help out the poor 10-yr old girl.

Gravatar No mention of Rich Rod's lawyer's "this is exactly like slavery" reference in court today. Thats a really good way to sway public opinion to his side.

Gravatar Keegan,

To carry over from the previous thread, I grew up in A2 and while the culture of UM is liberal, I can honestly say that I was shocked by how incredibly more "cultrually" liberal it is out here. Does not compare in my opinion. That's all I got...now on to more football.

Gravatar blue,

That's probably the reason he was frustrating. He is good, just not in the way that staff used him. I think in the pros he could do well on Sp. Teams and maybe certain Pro sets where he is on a TE.

Gravatar It's good that he's comparing his multi-million dollar contract to slavery. I am currently enslaved by my apartment complex, my ISP and my bank, among others.

Gravatar Seattle,

Sorry, but what do you mean by "culturally"? Just that everything is and everyone is more liberal? Because I could believe that.

Gravatar M used to play ND in hoops every year (or close to it) back in the 80s & early 90s. there was a revival for a couple years in 98-99 or 00-01 or something, but nothing since then. not sure why.

re: A2news... is anyone surprised at how they went about their interview process? what were they supposed to do? tell every player how the news was digging up academic scandal (trying to, anyway) and thought Hagen was perpetuating academic fraud?

Gravatar My tuition enslaved me. Or did it have a blood orgy with my soul?

God, I couldn't resist. I'm sorry, only football talk for the rest of the day for me.

Gravatar Should I be embarrassed I spotted the Alanis Morrisette reference?

Brian used in a manner that was cold as hell, so it's okay, right?

RIGHT?

Gravatar 1. Prayers to the Graham family..
2. Tressel is funny or die muthafuckers....Nice dig

Gravatar blue wolverine beat me to the same question... alanis? really?

I'm pretty sure hero of tianamen square is old news too. hasn't that been posted on here before?

Gravatar @ DanK: The whole time I was reading that story the first time, I was thinking, "Are these guys so dumb that they're selling Hagen out?" Apparently, the answer is that they're dumb, but not that dumb.

All this talk about slavery is making me hungry for some Malcolm eggs and slave chips.

Gravatar All this talk about slavery is making me hungry for some Malcolm eggs and slave chips.

Human Giant

Gravatar why does ND play in the big east basketball conference too? wouldn't they pad their schedule more by playing big10?

Gravatar I recognized an Alanis reference, and was interested to see which members of the hockey team were considered hot. Then proud when several of them were considered hot. I'm going to sit a few plays out.

Gravatar Wow, my remedial tagging skills certainly fucked that all up.

Gravatar Keegan,

Exactly. You find a lot more pine cone eating... Birkenstock wearing...no shaving women...solar power living...tree spiking...degree designing...pizza box recycling...SUV hating.. 50 year old compost nazis out here. God forbid you put a Republican bumber sticker on your Humvee....

Gravatar was that a Ken Bruen reference?

Gravatar Condolences to the Graham family.

In lighter news, you guys may find this amusing. JJHuddle is reporting that Zach Boren has committed to OSU and that Justin will be transferring to join him. Bucknuts has a (sorta) confirmation but the family is holding off on announcing until Justin finishes school.

Gravatar The only time Tressel has ever been funny, EVER, was during the halftime (or was it postgame?) interview during the BCS title game this year. I have never seen anyone look so "nervous tic-ish."

Gravatar AB:

If true my hope is that Justin Boren becomes synonymous with "Judas Goat".

Happy Friday!

Gravatar Seattle,

I knew a guy that put a republican sign in his yard. He made it a day and then someone drove through his yard and ran it over. I work in Ferndale though, which is Refinery Country up here, so it's pretty conservative once you're north of Bellingham. Add in Lynden's Dutch Christian sect and you've got a strong conservative force. What's funny is Lynden and Ferndale are the only two conservative towns west of the mountains, and they absolutely hate each other, especially in sports.

Gravatar Oh man, one of the coolest girls I ever knew was from Bellingham, WA and had a Dutch surname.

Gravatar 29th!!!!!!...... i think

Gravatar hey suckeyes, if you think tre$$eLLLLL is funny, you morons have no idea what fun is.
wait. actually it's not surprising because you assholes think burning couches is funny.
sod off.
as always,
you're going down the toilet fO$U, and you're taking toilet paper (tp) with you.

Gravatar I mean, I don't think that game was as well-called as the Niagara game the night before, but most of the things that were called were actually penalties. Which is more than I can say for a lot of our CCHA refs.

It still blows my mind how their guy can jack one of our players in the face right in front of the ref and not get called, but I can't complain about the officiating too much when we scored one of our two goals on a power play that we probably shouldn't have been given....and yes I'd be pissed about that one if I was a Clarkson fan (though the amount of complaining you can do when you get shut out is pretty limited).

Gravatar blue,

Didn't we talk about her once? Was her last name Van(something)?

Gravatar THE MICHIGAN MAN needs his own blog.

Gravatar I know Brian said that he was only going to be doing about one post a day in the off-season. Do you think that he's planning some changes for the site. I noticed he writes less and less for AOL (which is fine with me, their readers are idiots) Maybe he'll change the board and try to go more in depth on UM stuff and make MGoblog a full time gig. We talked about this once, but who here would be against paying a fee, say $50 a year, to read this. I wouldn't.

Gravatar $50 NO! 5$ yes. 0$ even better :)

Gravatar Sign me up.

Gravatar Keegan-

I probably mentioned her at one point. She's memorable. Her last name was Elenbaas though.

Gravatar yawn...good afternoon monkeys.

Gravatar $50 is a little steep. i would give him $15.

the internets are for poor folk.

Gravatar You know one thing I find hilarious.

By the end of this recruiting season, USC will have 2 five star DEs, and possibly 5 or 6 four star DEs, including Nicky Perry.

!!!

Gravatar $100 a year is fine by me. Cook's stuff is gold. It's money. It's so money and he doesn't even fucking know it. His stuff has these big fucking claws...

Gravatar Great Lebowski reference.

Gravatar Texas tea

Gravatar Abdelwhatever played last night for the wings

Gravatar While $50 is actually pretty fair (it's a dollar a week you cheapskates) - I feel like it would probably end up significantly cut down on the readership. The donation system is good but not everyone gives I am certain.

Really, Brian would have to do an analysis of how much more money he can make in ads/merchandise with the site free vs. how much subscriptions would pull in.

Gravatar Alright, I missed the first hour of the Tigers game. What the fuck happened with Nate Robertson?

Gravatar ...I will say a prayer for Graham and his family tonite. Tradgey...say the least.

Gravatar I'm surprised the Wings signed Abdelkader because at 6'2" and 203 he clearly deviates from their "too small for the playoffs" personnel acquisition strategy.

Gravatar I happy that Tigers have actually managed to score a few runs, but they're still leaving a staggering amount of men on base.

Gravatar Graham will find his way onto an NFL roster as a special teams player.

Gravatar ...the sweatervest such a kidder...can't wait for the day when R2 kicks his ass!

Gravatar He can exchange notes with Pierre Woods and Prescott Burgess.

Gravatar It's Justin Abdlekader, not Jeff.

Gravatar I like when MLB Gametracker gets behind and then catches up real quick with three pitches in 7 seconds.

Gravatar ps. If you think studying the flexbone, or as i call it the double slot offense, is going to give you any indication of the type of offense you will see michigan play, you will be sadly mislead. The double slot offense is COMPLETELY different then a qb read option game, that RR employes.

Gravatar can someone explain to me what unverified voracity means? I just started reading the blog last fall and it always bugs the hell out of me cause I feel like I am standing in the middle of a group of cool kids and they make some inside joke in which i laugh and then it becomes awkwardly silent because they all know I dont know what they are laughing about.

WTF does it mean!?!?

Gravatar MLB Gameday makes ESPN Gamecast seem like an Apple IIe.

Gravatar i would rather have a drunken Vietnam vet on the mound than nate robertson and his awful facial hair and glasses

Gravatar If the Tigers lose 2 of 3 to the White Sox, I might assassinate myself.

Gravatar Will-
Brian uses it because he thinks its a funny/unusual combination of words.

Also, from MGoFAQ:
"Unverified Voracity"? Voracity is a weird word to come after "unverified," especially when dealing with a sports blog and not, say, a blog about rumored hunger. The deal: back when the sporadic link-filled posts were untitled, some Iowa sportswriter penned what was to the the first in a long line of intemperate columns ragging on blogs for having the audacity to not be written by sportswriters. Unfortunately for that sportswriter, she inserted the following sentence:

In the new "journalism of assertion," as the report calls it, information is offered with little time and little attempt to independently verify its voracity. [sic]

Sarcasm being what it is, UV was born shortly after.

Gravatar @jay

i heard somewhere that the scenario you are describing is called "suicide"

Gravatar Will,

Get used to it. Dombrowski gave him a nice fat new contract even though he had a bad season last year.

Gravatar @ Will - It goes waaaaaayyyyy back. Some reporter in an Iowa newspaper wrote "the voracity of which was unverified" or something to that effect. Brian's basically ripping on the MSM with the title, although that link has been lost for a while.

Gravatar Will - read MGoFAQ.

And I believe it would be crotchety-ness.

Gravatar "Assassinate" sounds so much cooler than "suicide".

Gravatar @MRG

by MSM are you referring to the abbreviation "male sex with male" and therefore saying Brian doenst like gay people?

Gravatar Jay, are you famous? Otherwise, it's just murder for the rest of us poor schmucks.

Gravatar At least Andrew Miller got rocked in his start last night. The phrase "million dollar arm with a $.10 brain" describes him perfectly.

Gravatar Ummmm, no. Not sure if you're serious or not, but "main stream media." Maybe MGoFAQ lays out Brian's feelings on homosexuality too?

Gravatar hey bunny,

I would rather wear a dress than read the FAQs, IM A MAN, IM 40!!!

Gravatar @MRG

it was a complete joke

Gravatar Cool. My sarcasm detector has been blown to bits by this comment section lately.

Gravatar Jay, if you start training under Barwis you could conceivably become fast enough to assassinate yourself via sniper rifle.

Gravatar Freaky fast sniper assassination - I like that.

Gravatar Am I being haloscanned or did everyone just fall off the face of the earth?

Gravatar Did everyone leave work early today?

Gravatar Freaky.

Gravatar Seriously, like 15 comments between 2:50 and 3:00, then.....nothing.

Gravatar I'm not saying nothing, just saying....

Gravatar Alright, I missed the first hour of the Tigers game. What the fuck happened with Nate Robertson?

Um, he's Nate Robertson, and the White Sox offense isn't remotely as bad as they looked last year (and have Swisher, O. Cabrera and C. Quentin batting instead of Erstad, Podsednik and Richar).

Besides, it's early. As a White Sox fan I watched our two best starters get shelled only to watch John Danks, who had a 5.5 ERA last year, completely shut down Cleveland. Weird things happen.

Gravatar Heh, and everyone's most hated White Sox player jacks a 3-run homer. Nice bullpen you guys have.

Gravatar It's Grilli Time!

Gravatar Jason Grilli < Jason Voorhees

Gravatar So the Vest is going to get the Borens. I hope he is nice to them and brings milk and cookies.

True story - UM Football players get a chocolate chip cookie and glass of milk delivered to them just before lights out on night before a game.Tradition started by Bo and carried on thru Carr. I wonder if RR and Barwis will continue?

Gravatar Did everyone leave work early today?

i wish

Gravatar Jason Grilli = Heroshima & Nagasaki

Gravatar Grilli's ERA is 81.00. Awesome.

Gravatar Fucking Cancer Stick! Get that motherfucker off the mound!

Gravatar Smoke up, Jimmy!

Gravatar Heh, Steve Stone says Leyland should have yanked Grilli after the wild pitch and said "I don't know how good this Bazardo guy is, but he's got to be better than this."

Gravatar Who is JEFF Abdelkader?

Wake up, Brian.

Gravatar I think the bullpen might be a little weak.

Gravatar That line by Steve Stone is classic. Lets see. You cut Tim Byrdak because he was a gas can in spring training, yet, you keeps fucknuts Grilli who has never done shit in the majors? At least Byrdak was a lefty. Guys like Grilli are a dime a dozen.

Gravatar Why oh why did we trade for Cabrera!! This is ridiculous. We're screwed!

Gravatar The Tigers will probably go around 0-162.

Gravatar Nothing wrong with the Cabrera trade. We might be questioning the Renteria trade ,however, if Jurrjens pitches well this year. there were a couple free agent SS available that could've been had for just money rather than having to give up good prospects for Renteria.

Gravatar No! It was Cabrera that sat out "injured" yesterday on the 3 game of the season. With that ratio, we're screwed! I predict we win 20 games.

Gravatar For all of Dombrowski and Leyland's alleged personnel savvy, why oh why do they keep a noodle-armed f*ck like Grilli on staff?

Boy it sure feels great to blow that Fing World Series on poor pitcher fielding, doesn't it?

!#$%!$#%^!$#

im a braves fan and Jurrjens looked good the other night up until the 6th, then the wheels fell off..he looks to be a good pickup for us though

Gravatar Jesus how did a loser like Grilli even get in the majors in the first place:

http://mlb.mlb.com/team/ player_c...layer_id=276351

5-5 and 4.25 ERA at Seton Hall in 1996?
2-5 and 2.41 ERA for Honolulu in the Hawaii Winter Baseball League in 1997?

AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Gravatar Lets go back to 2004, the season of infinite pain for Tigers fans. I managed to make it through that season still a Tigers fan. Now that we fast forward to 2008, and see a possible Tigers 0-4 start, I think I'm going to jump off a bridge. Why not? Its four games into the year I've seen all that I need to see from this team. Oh yeah, and Miguel Cabrera is garbage. He obviously made this team worse. Just because his numbers are comparable to hall of famers such as Al Kaline, Willie Mays and other greats doesn't mean that the Tigers should have traded for him.

I hate bandwagon fans. Especially Tigers bandwagon fans since there are a ridiculous amount of them. Anyone tried to buy a ticket to a night game lately?

Gravatar 2003 was the year of infinite pain. Although 2002 wasn't much better.

We thought about grabbing tickets for the last series in 2003 thinking maybe we'd see history. Glad we didn't waste our money, the Tigers couldn't even get that right that year. If you're going to be bad, you may as well be brutally, horribly, historically bad and be remembered for it. Otherwise you just suck, and that's no fun.

Gravatar Bada Bing,

Please tell me who you've heard bashing Miguel Cabrera? Are sure you aren't having hallucinations? The guy is the best player in baseball under the age of 25 and his numbers are comparable what Hank Aaron and Mickey Mantle's were at the same age.

Gravatar At least Denny Bautista appears to be not terrible.

Gravatar Keeping the gas can lefty over the gas can righty is a no-brainer along the lines of "Never get involved in a land war in Asia!"

Gravatar Isn't it obvious? We have BRANDON INGE. Duh.

Gravatar This Cabrera has to be a joke. Right?

Gravatar Damn. You're right Yinka, that was 2003. Seems like just the other day Omar Infante was trotting to first base, not realizing what 'hustle' translates into Spanish.

Gravatar You know your bullpen sucks when marginal 4A pitchers like Zach Minor and Denny Bautista actually seem decent.

Gravatar I promise you Brandon Inge won't have another check swing strike-out for at least three more at-bats.

Gravatar Grilli gets his roster spot because he's a legacy.

That, and he may have incriminating photos of Leyland and/or Dombrowski.

Gravatar Octavio Dotel was a free agent and could've been signed by the Tigers.

I'm just sayin'.....

Gravatar Not looking to start any crap here, and I don't agree w/ the Borens ditching uofm (not sure we really need'em and not keen on the idea of givin' the skunkbears any more of a case of da red ass... but uofm had G. Moeller (a OSU team captain) and Bo Woody's "trusted" Def Coord defect to the north too. And M Dantonio to MSU (..I know....I know... not the same) but really....WTF? .... move on perfect the "Spread" and we'll see what happens 'kay?

Gravatar Cabrera bashing, I mean. It is a joke. If it isn't, my head is going to explode.

Gravatar @Across da field

.....huh?

Gravatar ADF:

All the people you mention had significant stops between fUoOS and Michigan.

Justin Boren may be a direct transfer.

That is the difference.

Have a nice day!

Gravatar I think his mom dumped lead into his Gerbers during his youth.

Gravatar Where did Bo stop over??!!??

Gravatar Octavio Dotel > Zumaya's surgically reconstructed right shoulder.

Octavio Dotel > Rodney's Tommy Johnned right elbow and chronically tendonitised right shoulder.

Gravatar Bo was HC at Miami of Ohio

Gravatar Octavio Dotel < Rodney/Zumaya two years ago. Whatever that means.

Gravatar ah the ol greater than, less than argument

Gravatar Jason Grilli < Former Tigers gas can/pitcher Jason Johnson

Gravatar Octavio Dotel was a free agent and could've been signed by the Tigers.

Yeah, the White Sox overpaid severely for both him and Linebrink, but given the Tigers basically went all-in for the present (not much left in the system), what's another $10 million a year to fix a problem that was obvious to everyone?

Gravatar YDD,

My point exactly.

Gravatar \keeping an amphibious rodent for, uh... domestic... within the city limits, isn't legal//

It is reasonable (or even plausible) to have a man-crush on a blogger?

Gravatar They will trade for a reliever soon. Goodbye, Ryan Raburn.

Gravatar Blue in PA:

Thanks for the assist.

Many hands make light work.

Now if only I could get my idiot managers to understand that concept.

Gravatar Ryan Rayburn = Jack shit in a trade.

Gotta do better than a 4a utility player, Bada Bing.

Gravatar I've been waiting for that particular Big Lebowski reference. Possibly my favorite line.

Gravatar Ryan Raburn will be a solid player in the majors and he is generally regarded as a legit prospect. He is definitely not jackshit in a trade. If you trade Raburn and throw in a minor leauge prospect you could get a decent middle reliever.

Gravatar It's only a dig if Tressel thinks he and Tiller are gentlemen.

I actually think it was humourous self-deprecation.

One thing we know about Carr: he may be crotchedty, but he'll step up with Chris Graham.

I'll bet RR does too, when his time comes, but we'll see

Gravatar Umm,

Ryan Rayburn is NOT considered a prospect anymore (age), let alone a decent one. If Dombrowski could get ANYTHING for Rayburn, he would've done it already. Hence, I reiterate:

Ryan Rayburn = Jack shit in a trade.

Gravatar Batista has pretty decent stuff. The Royals tried him out as a starter a couple years ago but he kind of fell into the "magnificent for 2 innings, complete and utter garbage for 2 innings" category.

As for Dotel, see how you feel about him in 4-6 weeks when he starts making regular trips to the DL. He couldn't even close in KC last year, that job should've been Soria's all year. Then he got traded to Atlanta and bombed out big time before finishing the season on the DL in true Octavio Dotel fashion.

The Tigers will be fine. Trading Maybin and Miller for Cabrera and Willis was the right thing to do. This team has a short 2-3 year window to win a title and neither Maybin or Miller were going to do much to get over the hump in that time frame. It does appear that Dombrowski, for all his smarts, severely underestimated the suck-itude of the Tigers bullpen. It's hard to imagine it being worse than last year, but early returns suggest it actually is.

Gravatar From MLB Gameday:

"With Miguel Carbrera batting, Carlos Guillen advances to 2nd on defensive indifference."

I'm pretty ND's offense was centered around the same principle last year.

Gravatar He is 26 years old...

Gravatar My beef with Dombrowski is that there were pitchers available in free agency that he could've signed to help the situation out. They don't have much in the farm system to offer in a trade. Why get cheap when you already have the second highest payroll in the majors?

Gravatar 26 year olds, generally speaking, are not considered high end prospects anymore.

Gravatar Unless they are a pitcher, I should add.

Gravatar Is Zumaya the next Matt Anderson?

I remember seeing Anderson back in 2000 (I think) throwing 101-103mph and striking out all of the Indians.

Travis Fryman, Kenny Lofton, Albert Bell...

Ah the good old days.

Wait! Matt Anderson is gone. I really hope Zumaya pans out.

Gravatar Octopus tossing, anyone?

Gravatar Rick Porcello.

In the majors by July.

Book it.

Gravatar @Jay

There is no way.

Gravatar Bada Bing,

Book it.

Gravatar Did you watch what happened last year? Miller and Maybin both weren't ready, and the organization admitted that they jumped the gun on bringing Maybin up. Miller was an All-American at UNC and knew what it was like to pitch in big games, unlike Porcello who is 19 years old. The Tigers aren't trying to emulate the Chicago Cubs in terms of taking care of young arms. He may be the most talented player in last year's draft, but he is nowhere near ready to pitch in the majors.

Gravatar Tigers will not win the divison or the wildcard if:

1) the SPs continue to look like women.

2) Grilli continues pitching

Gravatar I'm with BB. There's a lot of guys (Vasquez, Larrison, Bazardo, etc.) the Tigers will try as starters before going to Porcello.

Gravatar Funny how Across Da Field just left after "facts" were mentioned. True story: I had a mom yell at me for 45 minutes once and after I had proved all of her complaints to be BS, she just yelled "Keegan, all you are doing is bringing up facts, that's not helping right now" Word for word. Apparently, in crazy mom/buckeye world* facts are not meant to be brought up in an argument.

*Also Hillary Clinton's world.

Gravatar Bada Bing,

I don't disagree with you. I'm just sayin' that Dombrowski's track record is that he doesn't fuck around. If he (not us) believes Porcello is ready, then he will be in the majors before the end of the season.

Gravatar Please lets refrain from mentioning "her" on this thread. We have already sunken low enough.

Gravatar Jay, I'm pretty sure the Wings will lose in the 2nd round.

Gravatar If Virgil Vasquez spends any significant amount of time in the majors, than the Tigers are in deep shit.

Gravatar Basically, their pitching sucks and they need help or everyone is going to be disappointed.

Gravatar Bada Bing,

Agree completely.

Gravatar Second highest payroll = only team in Majors w/o a win. What is wrong here?

Gravatar Motor City Kitty fans:

Just keep telling yourselves the Tigers are a karmic sacrifice that enables UM to win the hockey championship next week.

It'll just be another 8 days, I promise.

Gravatar True story: I had a mom yell at me for 45 minutes once and after I had proved all of her complaints to be BS, she just yelled "Keegan, all you are doing is bringing up facts, that's not helping right now" Word for word.

I hope that conversation went something like this:

Her: "Oh Keegan, pull my hair, spank my ass and do me doggy style!"

You: "You know I'm too big for actual insertion!"

Her: "Keegan, all your doing is bringing up facts and that's not helping right now!"
----
Oh, nevermond, that's what things are like in MY world!*

*Me actually being hung like a gnat should have no impact on your opinion of this statement.

Gravatar I don't believe in compromise. I'll take the win-win situation.

Gravatar get your checkbooks out and show Chris the love of mgobloggers. Mine's in the mail.

Gravatar Reminder - this is a Michigan blog, not a Tiger blog.

You want to talk Tigers, go to MYSTADIUMISINTHEGHETTO.COM

Go Braves.

Gravatar Ninja,

I may be hung like a squirrel, but I can hold my breath for an hour.

Gravatar Side note, when you go to MYSTADIUMISINTHEGHETTO.COM, you'll find Comerica Park right above Turner Field :)

Tiger by birth. Brave buy the grace of, uhm, well, a good relocation package!

Gravatar I didn't go away "direct" "indirect" I still say WTF?..I mean more that 1/2 the players (& coaches) that ever amounted to anything at uofm came from Ohio....you guys sit up here and piss all over yourselves cuz you get a couple of '09?? commits from ohio... again WTF?? it is, what it is and what will be, it will be 'kay?

Gravatar P.S. Keegan.. I said "Hi" to your Mom for you...

Gravatar different will than above..

There are days I love to read through the whole comments section, but a rare day does come along when I actually have things to do at work - but Id still like my UM fix for the day.. (live in columbus, all I hear is how great OSU will be)

Could we as a commenting body come up with some way of having actual news/rumors be highlighted or seperated out from the other blood orgy and everyone likes the picture of 0goblue00's breasts being grabbed?

Nothing wrong with either, and no argument as to if this is the place for it, just wishing...

Gravatar Atlanta = Worst sports city in America.

Fact.

Gravatar Funny how Across Da Field just left after "facts" were mentioned. Gees -sometimes the facts hurt huh?...now who "went away"?

Gravatar Nate Robertson's attempt at stylin' reminds me of an old saying: "Yo ain;t stylin' if you ain't dealin'. If you ain't dealin', you'fe just a high paid douchebag"

Gravatar Someday I'll learn how to proofread.

Gravatar Channel 4's Dr. Frank McGeorge is so f***ing annoying. I can't STAND him.

Gravatar Will. Please.

Everyone knows that U of M football, alcohol,Ninja's Aunt Edna, Shonte People's marksmanship, swinging MILF titties, go-go boots, recruiting, hockey, Miley Cyrus, blood orgies and hamsterfisting are all inextricably linked.

Gravatar Tressels "gentlemen" comment about RR was on PTI

Gravatar Across da field

I didn't go away I went back to work. I don't get your point. We get recruits from Ohio. Okay, so what. Anyone here will admit that Ohio HS football is better than Michign. So what. All we did was tell you that Bo coached at Miami before he coached UM. You didn't know this, therefore your argument was ruined.

By the way, explain this sentence to me:

it is, what it is and what will be, it will be 'kay?

Can I buy a verb?

Gravatar PTI comment-Wilbon was funny. He said it was ok to be personal because it's OSU/UM, not some lesser rivalry. He also said it's up to UM to answer.

Gravatar uofm "needing " ohio players -is what "it is" and what will be, "it will be"-- you'll always need ohio players (I'lL buy the verb for ya) and yes hs fball in MI IS terrible

Gravatar I know that is where I played

Gravatar Just in case all you good people haven't heard yet, but Justin Boren is a disgrace to all of humanity.

Gravatar Omameh never received an tOSU offer. That was just rumor.

Gravatar "you're going down the toilet fO$U, and you're taking toilet paper (tp) with you."

That will never get old - keep up the good work MICHIGAN MAN.

Gravatar Tyler,

Do you have a source for that? Not saying it isn't true, just curious.

Gravatar Across da field - no one can even figure out what you're attempting to say well enough to argue with you.

Gravatar MICHIGAN MAN is the best gimick poster running. Almost reached Chunks the Hobo levels.

Gravatar This definitely seems like one of the threads Subcommandante Wayne would post on circa two years ago. Just saying.

Atlanta may suck for sports, but its made some of the best ticket packages ever at braves games. $70 for all you can eat hotdogs, bbq pork sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad, cornbread, chicken wings, cokes, dasaini water, bud light and budweiser. I showed up to the Wednesday game 2 hours before game time and went to town.

Gravatar there was the knowledge (I'm still waiting on sarkasian) and Clueless.

I so wish I would have saved some of Clueless's posts.

Gravatar the knowledge was good. But MICHIGAN MAN perfectly encapsulates the blind, dumb rage of 95% of message board posters.

Gravatar blaaaah

Gravatar if osu didnt have michigan they wouldnt know what to do with themselves. everybody in that state obsesses over that football program and are almost equally obsessive with our program. fuck em there just a bunch hillbillies putting together foreign cars.

Gravatar I wonder how long I can keep bringing up supposedly garbage media and turning into righteous indignation.

Gravatar what

Gravatar @Conehasdowns:

Exactly the point I made at Mzone today.

Gravatar ADF:

So you're admitting you're a traitor, just like Mommy mommy I got sand in my vagina it hurts what should I do Boren?

Takes one to know one I guess.

Gravatar At Saturday's practice, nearly every punt junior Zoltan Mesko kicked hit the ceiling.

They neglected to say that the ceiling is 3.768 miles high.

Gravatar At practice, punter Zoltan Mesko, known by you mere mortals as Your Almighty Space Emperor, repeatedly sent punts into God's testicles. When asked why he kicked them so high and why he continued to hit God in the crotch, His Almightiness replied:

"I just wanted to let him know that I still run this bitch."

Gravatar Nice work Keegan.

Somewhere in Michigan there's a guy losing money at poker and golf clapping to your sheer wit.

And that asshole would be me.

Gravatar Jesus Keegan, are you sure you didn't live in Michigan in a previous life?

Gravatar Why?

Gravatar goddamn that's funny.

Gravatar Donnie don't make me send Aunt Edna after you with the shoe horn and the anal beads.

Gravatar "FAYETTEVILLE — Brothers Casey and Nathan Dick began the long battle for Arkansas’ starting quarterback job when the Razorbacks kicked off spring practice."

Looks like Mallett is caught between two big Dicks.

Gravatar Tressel's definition of a "gentleman" involves a reach around.

Gravatar finally got my formations post up, if anyone is interested....

Gravatar gsimmons85--

What?? No shotgun formations?

I'm kidding... your blog is great, man. That looks like it had to take a while!

Gravatar yea lol,

there was no way i was going to do all the back field possiblities ...

tack one of the freekin circles and put it back, put Gun in front of the formation, and there ya go..

glad you enjoy it...

Gravatar "ps. If you think studying the flexbone, or as i call it the double slot offense, is going to give you any indication of the type of offense you will see michigan play, you will be sadly mislead. The double slot offense is COMPLETELY different then a qb read option game, that RR employes."

@Gsims - who do you think you are a coach or something?

I'll defer to experts like the MICHIGAN MAN and THE KNOWLEDGE.

And I'm going to just say this once if you are born somewhere and grow up a fan of team x and then move to state y and become a fan of team y and turn your back on team x - you suck.

Gravatar

Gravatar

Gravatar @Whoever said Omameh never had a OSU offer
http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=...c=1& nid=3238885

Yeah he had one.

Gravatar jhs,

yeah i was out of line on that one, sorry...

Gravatar @Gsims

Despite you being a novice - I completely agree that the UM offense will look nothing like a flexbone team.

Gravatar What a relief to have a coach open to the media. We live in the age of instant information and for good or for bad the most media savvy will come out winners. To wit one need look no further that the current presidential nominations.
It is a relief the fort is dead. The rivals premium web site needs to be renamed to reflect current times.

Gravatar the knowledge was good. But MICHIGAN MAN perfectly encapsulates the blind, dumb rage of 95% of message board posters.
chitownblue 00 | 04.04.08 - 7:44 pm | #

THE KNOWLEDGE set the precedent for typing in all caps and making ridiculous statements, a la MICHIGAN MAN. MICHIGAN MAN was made by THE KNOWLEDGE. I wish he still posted around these parts...

Gravatar THE KNOWLEDGE was fairly rational and calm. He was just slightly ridiculous. MICHIGAN MAN is completely bat-shit crazy. At first I thought (and maybe others thought also) that he was an OSU troll just being a dick. But no troll lasts that long. He's the real deal and I love his enthusiasm. Is that the right word?

Gravatar THE KNOWLEDGE was simply the best poster ever.

MICHIGAN MAN is a close second.

I will give THE KNOWLEDGE credit - he said if he was wrong about Sarkasian he would never show up again, he is a man of his word, although I wouldn't mind seeing some new posts from him.

Gravatar Sounds like Shafer got all over the D and they played great today, dinged up Threet a bit too.

And Minor ran the option...

Gravatar What was the thing with Sarkasian?

On another note. Brian's mgolicious thing, there is a report from UMHoops that a kid from Vanderbilt may transfer here. His name...Keegan. This must happen, it just must. My life will be so much better with this happening.

Gravatar The Sarkasian thing was that - THE KNOWLEDGE guaranteed Sarkaisain would be the next UM coach - even gave the date and time of the press conference. He said if he was wrong - he would never return, but if he was right he would bask in his glory.

Gravatar jameson whiskey. yes.

Gravatar I think THE KNOWLEDGE would've stayed but got run off by everyone making fake posts by him. Therefore I am partially to blame, and apologize for running off such a talented wordsmith.

Gravatar i have tigers tix for saturday vs. the white sox.call me if you want to go.810 794 531 1175 please dont pank call this is a fund raise gone bad that will lose money now that the band wagon fans are backing out.

Gravatar sorry no 794 in the number i'm drunk.its 810 531 1175

Gravatar Woof! Take a bite out of crime.

Gravatar Jim Tressel should not be digging at a man who has been working under the chains of slavery through his career. The shame.

And he is boring. Same old win thing over UM every year.

Gravatar Kind of a cute story I'd like to share...

I awoke this morning with my 2 year old daughter staring at me. She had a very serious, perplexed look on her face. I asked, Marah what's wrong? She said "Daddy, Jake Long is a BEAST!" I almost fell out of the bed I was laughing so hard. God I love that kid! Have a great day everyone.

Gravatar @ sodakblue:

I'd like to commend you on the way you have chosen to raise this child and hereby nominate you for Parent of the Year.

Gravatar mr. green, some words of encouragment for "poor abused" Coach Rod..

" Even though it is true that abused and non-abused coaches face the same challenges, the internal wiring of the abused coaches who still struggle with damage from the past does not lend itself to the job. Left over rage and shame can carry forward, and in the worst case, cause them to mimic the very behaviors that they may have sworn never to engage. Without a doubt, there is overwhelming evidence that those who were abused are the most likely to abuse their players in turn; thereby perpetuating the cycle of violence and shame.

That being said, if you can overcome your past; if you can get help to manage and reconcile the effects of player abuse in your own life, being a coach can be one of the most rewarding contributions to another person's life that you could ever make. By offering your players love, you come to understand that love for players is possible. Many find that the love they show their players gives back to them the love they never received as a coach

Gravatar sodak,

If I ever have children, I will raise them in your daughters likeness and hope that someday, they themselves, may make a statement that amazing. You sir, are my hero.

Gravatar Ninja, I hereby accept your nomination. Kids are a total trip. Give Aunt Edna a hug for me!

Gravatar This is NOT a paranoid post because I don't know a lot about when and how Scout/Rivals operates. But, I was checking out UM's DE and SLB Prospects and there were only 4 and 2 respectively. I'm sure there will be more after camps and combines but is that normal to have so few right now? I only ask because we have like 15 WR and RB prospects each. Any clarification is appreciated.

Gravatar Offense is much easier to grade talent on early on. If the guy was an integral part of the offense, his numbers show it. Defense, outside of total tackles, can be hard to find by just stats.

Just my guess.

Gravatar Here is a condensation of a recent investigation of the AA News

“Part One: The AA News Snow Job
In a recent series of articles on UM AD Academics, the AA news used a method termed “Proof by verbosity”?essentially a snow job. It uses an overwhelming volume of redundant material to make an argument seem well-researched . But the real intent is to make the piece “so laborious to untangle and check supporting facts that the argument might be allowed to slide by unchallenged.”* ……

Part Two:Academics
Not long ago, the AA News was taken over by a huge conglomerate, under the umbrella of Newhouse News. Its current head, David Newhouse, inherited the family money---about seven times the total wealth of George Steinbrenner. Since we are talking about academic excellence, it’s fair to ask where the boss went to school. ..
Actually,…He dropped out (of Syracuse)

And how about the more immediate leaders in Ann Arbor, like (Knight, who was) responsible for bringing in brilliant writers like JIm Carty………….(He went to)

Central Michigan

….(the) graduation rate at (Knight’s) own alma mater, CMU, is 34%..
By contrast , it was 73% for UM FB PLAYERS**.

….The average individual SAT score (verbal or math) at CMU is 498.

Yes, 498.

That’s right alongside intellectual powerhouses like Georgia Southern and East Tennessee State.

…(So) at CMU, most UM athletes would probably be on the dean’s list. Conversely, if the average CMU student came to UM, his scores would even be not average. In fact, they’d be in the lowest 2-3%...Yes, (according to the US News and World Report) the lowest 2-3%!

In summary the Managerial leader at AA News--Carty's mentor--a crusader for academic integrity-comes from a place with a 34% grad rate and with SAT scores
comparable to Georgia Southern and East Tennessee state.

Hypocrisy at the AA News? Yes. Sour grapes? You be the judge.
(to be continued)
http://michigan.rivals.com/showm...1850528& style=1

Gravatar Continuation/conclusion of the investigation of the AA News

Part Three: Ethics
Since the AA News has questioned the ethics of the head coach and academic leadership of UM for the past several decades, it’s only fair to take a closer look at the ethics of AA News and its associates. You may begin to wonder about their ethics (for misleading student about the purpose of their interviews) and .. violating ..academic confidentiality…(as well as US law by publishing their grades without permission).

But stop wondering. Just consider some history.

The ultimate boss of the AA News staff, Donald Newhouse, heads Advance publications and the related papers of Newhouse news service…(which has become) a dominant force in the news. How did they become so dominant? “A 1985 grand jury investigated allegations that the news empire conspired to “kill the Cleveland Press, which closed in 1982, giving The Plain Dealer what amounts to a metropolitan daily newspaper monopoly. Then, in 1998, Advance tightened its grip on northern Ohio with the purchase of Sun Newspapers, a chain of twenty-three zoned weeklies in suburban Cleveland.”

… the main editor of the AA News, besides previously working in Lansing, also worked with the current Managing editor of the AA news in Ohio. They were called scabs, as they had crossed picket lines to manage the Youngstown Vindicator (in the previous home of Jim Tressel). Their job was reportedly to break the union. But they actually did more than that: they also overruled a 7-1 vote of the staff and changed the Presidential candidate that the paper endorsed. ..(after firing the staff and changing the editorial endorsement, Newhouse News said it was proud of the “independence” of its papers).

The (facts belie) the supreme hypocrisy involved when the AA News talks about big money interests taking over college athletics and lowering academic standards. The AA News exemplifies the way that big money interests are taking over the news, monopolizing their content… and lowering journalistic standards. … (a paper that) claims “moral expertise” and impugns the ethics of the University of Michigan had better look at his own ethics first.”

Gravatar Going to hash bash... where pot heads unite in a cloud of smoke with a pungent smell.

Gravatar Glad you're not paranoid cuz they're just "prospects" ....Christ -RR is at this point is just a prospect....

Gravatar Prospect Prophet,

I asked because I was unfamiliar with how Scout/Rivals goes about listing prospects. I had no prior knowledge to what UM Prospect list looked like at this time in previous years. I was asking if it was normal to have so few prospects on D at this time of year and formerlyanonymous cleared that up for me. I didn't want people to think I shouting the usual recruiting paranoia around, just that I was unfamiliar with the process. Don't be a jackass.

Gravatar I am pooping right now.

In 4 minutes, I will eat my booger.

And then I will say something stupid and tell everyone that I am actually 9 years old.

But for now I will poop and eat my booger.

Gravatar I know, what I'm trying to say in short is those ratings don't mean squat till they get an "offer" then based on how many they get and who they're from- then they rate 'em -kinda early for that-then after all that you still can't tell squat till they start knockin' heads....

Gravatar Barwis Gold from the clinic...

Barwis told a story about a player doing a drill who badmouthed the drill in front of the team. The player said the drill was stupid.

Barwis’ response: “Of course it’s stupid. Because you suck at it.”

Gravatar And apparently the player was Boren...

Gravatar Is that like Distant Early Warning from RUSH?

1 of my 3 favorites

Gravatar The imposter at 2:38 has said something far funnier than I ever could have. I am humbled.

Gravatar Damn Musket, I just assumed it was you.

Hey Gerbil- where'd that Barwis stuff come from?

Gravatar yeah Gerbil---is that true?

Gravatar The story is true, can't guarantee it's Boren but it's what some well connected folks said...

Gravatar And Barwis told the story at the coaches clinic yesterday...

Gravatar D-train doing his thing, 0 hits but 4 walks through 4 innings. Inge has accounted for all three of the Tigers runs with three ribbies, and the Tigers are up 3-0. They might not go 0-162 after all. Maybe.

Gravatar Don't want to say it but HOLY CRAP DONTRELLE WILLIS.

Gravatar Apparently I'm now known as "Anonymous"...

Gravatar Dontrell Willis.

Do.

Not.

Jinx.

Gravatar D-train

Throw a strike.

Please.

Gravatar Jay-

What did I tell you about Inge? Three RBI!

Gravatar Nm, and he's given up 7 walks.

Gravatar Bada Bing,

I HATE having to give that little dickhead Inge any credt, but, he's probably been their best player these first 5 games.

Gravatar I'm sure you could tell, but earlier this thread I was BSing about Inge. He is my least favorite Tiger, even though he lives in my hometown. I hate his quotes, too. He had some quote last year where he claimed he was being pitched to like Babe Ruth and hadn't seen a pitch down the middle of the plate in weeks. I guess he never thought that he might be part of his hitting problem.

Gravatar Tigers Bullpen.

Shoot me.

Somebody.

ANYBODY.

Gravatar I have a feeling the Tigers are gonna be 0-6. They have really seemed to struggle against the Royals and the White Sox the past few years.

If they can take one from the Sox, I'll be impressed.

Gravatar This is awesome. We're about to go to 0-5.

Can anyone honestly remember a time the Tigers scored a run off of Jenks? I can't.

Gravatar whos my tiger? Im torn between Jason Grilli and Zach Minor

effing shoot me

Gravatar Wow I don't care if the Tigers go 0-162 at least we don't have a guy with a blond goat beard like Jenks.

Gravatar Holy shit. Hey Keegan- you see that Hillary got busted on another total lie? I came in in the middle of the story, something about a lady without insurance.

Gravatar Fire Leyland?

Just askin'....

Gravatar Bobby Jenks is to Tigers hitters what Jim Tressel was to Lloyd Carr.

Gravatar There was a story in the Freep today (maybe The News i forget) about only 6 teams who started 0-4 ever made the playoffs. Lol. THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!

Gravatar Wow Bud is coming out with Bud Light with Lime - looks like the white trash corona has hit the big time.

Gravatar My sister was drinking Mich Light w/Lime last week but I gave her a pass because A) she's a chick and b) she'd just got back from the Caribbean. But yeah, i didn't know they even made that.

Gravatar I was at Mexican resturant a couple of years ago and the dude at the next table from us ordered a strawberry daiquiri. We couldn't help but laugh out loud. Even the broad that was with him was laughing at him. Your mancard is immediately suspended when you do shit like that.

Gravatar Jay,
I had a buddy who I bartended with on St. Thomas who was macho as all hell but would drink fruity drinks all the time. His Mom tried to call him on it and he said "Hey mom, fuck off. You know why I moved to the Caribbean? So I could drink fruity drinks and still hit that- at which point he pointed at his hot ass gf." Obviously he was wasted, but it was hilarious.

Gravatar Oops with the quotation marks, but you get the idea.

Gravatar So Grilli is the #581 RP on yahoo. Maybe I should add him to my points for sucking league? How'd his HBP count?

Gravatar My fantasy team is 0 for 25 so far today, with Justin Upton and Eric Byrnes still playing. I kinda just hope they go hitless.

Gravatar And let the media slurping of Handsboro begin! Luckily Jay Bilas is not calling this game.

By the way - did you goes know that Roy Williams used to coach Kansas?

Gravatar kansas started strong

Gravatar UofM football has a horn blowing guy.

Yesterday, he was supposed to blow the horn twice to signify the end of practice. He only blew it once.

R2 glared at him and said "Two horns, peckerhead".

The horn blowing guy missed practice today, no word on whether he may be transferring...

Gravatar By the way - did you goes know that Roy Williams used to coach Kansas?
Jim Harbaugh Scramble | 04.05.08 - 9:03 pm | #

I don't believe you...where did you hear that?

Gravatar A little surprised that the U hasn't released this, but the NCAA has told the admin and AD that after reviewing the athademic series in AAN, it has no reason to believe any violations occurred, nor to investigate.

Gravatar NCAA basketball update:

If Kansas tops Memphis: big gay heart wins the bracket

If Memphis tops Kansas: Terrelle Pryor wins the bracket.

Gravatar @ Ninja Football

I like margaritas. No salt, on the rocks. Will my man card get suspended for this?

Sometimes I order a Corona with a lime slice? Is that OK?

Look....I tried Scotch which is supposedly the most manly drink. Really did. My whole family drinks that crap. But the sh*t tastes like I am drinking somebody's shoe. I can't stand it.

Me likey tequila straight shots when I am at the Boobles Bar. Nothing makes a stripper more fun than a few shots of tequila.

With whiskey, I had too many experiences which resulting in projectile vomitus episodes when I was younger. When I smell whiskey I immediately feel nauseous. So I very rarely drink it anymore.

So for me it's beer, tequila, margaritas.

Gravatar Margaritas are fine in my book, Corona sucks ass though, Dos Equis is so much better.

Gravatar I drank some Sleeman's the other night... that was pretty good stuff. With that, I'm off to get my buddy bed-pissing drunk since it's his 21st tomorrow.

Gravatar Oh yeah and Jimmy Buffett is a tool for that abomination called Landshark. Charging import prices for it, I oughta kill you. All this from a card-carrying parrothead.

Gravatar This novak kid is getting alot of love now.

Gravatar http://www.thetimesonline.com/ ar...81943379517.txt

Gravatar I've bartended on and off for 12 years and don't really pass judgment. If you like fruity drinks go for it, they're just hard to pull of unless you're at the beach and strawberry daquiries are tough to pull of ANYWHERE if you're a guy. Margaritas are great. I'll drink them on the rocks with extra salt every once in awhile. Scotch is an acquired taste and I love it, but it's hilarious to do so when my dad's around- he equates my drinking a 12 yr. old scotch neat to doing shots of Jager, even though he can get through about 3 beers in the time it takes for me to drink a scotch. Used to be a big Jack Daniels guy, but not so much anymore, and drank the equivalent of Lake Michigan in rum when I lived in St. Thomas. The first week back I put on 8 lbs. in water weight I was so dehydrated. About the only thing I can't stand is Gin.

Gravatar It is just SO pathetic that some men would actually use a fear of emmasculation to dictate their drinking decisions. Show me a man who, liking daquiries, orders one without hesitation; this is a MAN ruled not by fear of the snivveling class, but ruled by his inner strength.

Gravatar Look, umbrella drinks are delicious - anyone who claims otherwise is lying. But is it really feasible to drink these in Michigan/Chicago/the entire midwest? Not really. I can't imagine walking into a Chicago bar and ordering one. Give me a gin and tonic, or a bourbon neat, and I'm happy. And still sufficiently manly.

Gravatar back to things that matter a little bit more than others...Chris was actually a close friend of mine and one stand-up guy. If there is one cause you should donate towards, it would have to be the support of his family.

Gravatar So, anyone willing to post what the two deeps from Scout look like? Most concerned with O-line WR. Thanks to anyone who knows.

Gravatar Rob, here you are:

WR1 - Greg Mathews, LaTerryal Savoy
WR2 - Toney Clemons, Zion Babb
WR3 - Junior Hemingway
WR4 - Darryl Stonum
QB - Steven Threet, Nick Sheridan, David Cone
RB - Carlos Brown, Brandon Minor, Kevin Grady, Avery Horn
C - David Molk, David Moosman
G - Tim McAvoy, Mark Huyge
T - Steve Schilling, Perry Dorrestein
G - Cory Zirbel
T - Mark Ortmann
TE - Carlos Butler, Martell Webb

DE - Tim Jamison, Adam Patterson
DE - Brandon Graham, Greg Banks
DT - Terrance Taylor, Renaldo Sagesse
DT - Will Johnson, John Ferrara
LB - Obi Ezeh, Marell Evans
LB - Jonas Mouton, Brandon Logan, Brandon Herron
LB - John Thompson, Obi Ezeh, Austin Panter
CB - Donovan Warren, Doug Dutch
CB - Morgan Trent, Brandon Harrison, Troy Woolfolk
S - Artis Chambers, Michael Williams
S - Steve Brown, Charles Stewart

Gravatar Obviously, that's only involving players currently enrolled at the school.

Gravatar chitown,

We asked for the two deep. You didn't put a second stringer down for some of the offensive line.................oh, that's right, they don't have anyone. Damn, that stings a little.

Gravatar I thought the two-deep was supposed to be two players deep. Notice our amazing O-line woooohooooo!

Gravatar Keegan - yeah, I was looking at it saying "this can't be right", and then I remembered that we only have about 5 lineman.

Gravatar Holy shit that's scary.

Gravatar remember.... freshman will be playing a big role this year, espically on offense

Gravatar any chance the Flion moves to OG?

where was he on the 2-deep?

Gravatar Yeah, I was sort of confused w/ the lack of Slocum on the 2-deep, anywhere.

Rivals is saying that RR is likely counting on O'Neill to push for a starting job at tackle, with Schilling maybe moving to guard in place of Zirbel.

Gravatar http://www.chicagotribune.com/ ne...1,6051620.story

There are only three sure things in life. Death, taxes, and Sparty rioting.

Gravatar A rioting starting in Cedar Village? That NEVER happens!

I was actually there in 1999, just walking around, taking in the sights.

Gravatar Who breaks out windows on a fucking police cruiser? Jesus what a bunch of idiots.

Interestly, I live about a mile from there, the complex is tightly packed with narrow streets and the river running behind it. I you ever get stuck in a zombie film in East Lansing this is DEFINITELY where you want to make your last stand. There are 2 liquor stores a block away, and a 7 eleven too, so you could easily stop for snacks while the zombies amble toward you.

Gravatar The highlights: Some students said it appeared that party-goers wanted to be gassed.

"'We want tear gas! 'We want tear gas'" Ashley Pixley , 21,recalled people chanting

And lowpoints: "Dozens of arrests were made as police broke up fights and detained girls who flashed their breasts."

Only in E.Lansing

Gravatar What is this haloscan ad i see here: Anastasia
INTERNATIONAL.COM

Seems sketchy to me, unless Brian has delved into the real internet.

Gravatar Bottom line, if you order a fruity drink and even the broad thats with you is laughing and making fun of you, you're queer bait.

Oh, and one more thing. You're basic average margarita doesn't count as a fruity drink.

God I love tequila.

Gravatar In '99 people were setting police cruisers on fire.

Gravatar I am relieved that margaritas are still acceptable.

Also, I am surprised that RR has not moved a D-Lineman to O-Line yet. I could see Ferrara as a good guard.

But we must come to the acceptance that the O-Line is going to be a problem in '08. The sooner we just accept that fact, the sooner we can begin to heal as a fanbase.

Gravatar I hate it when Hindus marry freaking Buddhists. It's like dogs marrying blackies.

Gravatar I fully expect the O-Line to be an abortion early on in the season. In fact, the entire offense will suck early on, imho. Let's just hope the defense can be dominant and create alot of turnovers or it could be a real ugly September.(again) Utah is no joke and is returning quite a few starters.

Gravatar Licking my chops to share the Sparty riot news with my State co-workers. Can't wait to hear the lame excuses they'll come up with for this one. Actually they'll probably be disappointed that there were only "four small fires" and tell tales of how it used to be back in the day when they used to have real bonfires in the streets and flip police cruisers over. I do like the flashing breasts bit though. Gotta love Sparty.

Gravatar Chitown:

Just got back. Thanks for the two deep update. I doubt Scout gave an explaination of the WR1, WR2, etc., making it hard to know who is playing the "slot". But thanks.

Gravatar @ Rob

Judging from the players' abilities, I would assume Hemingway and Stonum are playing in the slot for now.

Gravatar Licking my chops to share the news the O-line will be an abortion with my uofm co-workers. Can't wait to hear the lame excuses they'll come up with for the fact, the entire offense will suck. Actually they'll probably be disappointed that there are only "four O-Linemen " and tell tales of how it used to be back in the day when they used to have real O-Linemen. I do like the flashing breasts bit though. Gotta love our Little blue sisters

Gravatar Sparty, no!

Gravatar I only talk about UM riots... oh wait we don't have any.. ok spartinas are frigging lame......

Gravatar wow,

why do state fans even bother talking football trash. i dont get it. sorry MSU but......

you will never make a rose bowl, let alone a national title game

and all of you are scared to death of this RR offense that is designed for INFERIOR talent to be SUPERIOR talent and welll...........

what happens when RR gets that SUPERIOR talent you ask?

well not only will RR revolutionize the way football is played in the Big10, but will have state fans hoping it was basketball season all year because you are no longer relevant in football for the state of michigan

if you ask the average person who does not live in michigan where east lansing is they will have no clue.

you ask that same person where Ann Arbor is and I guarantee you they know where it is.

sorry sparty but you guys just cant compete with michigan football on many different levels and now that carr is gone your best chances are as well

oh, and, suck my balls

Gravatar Two things that better happen in tonight's Tigers game:

1. Verlander must step up and be the ace this team so desperately needs. Shut the White Sox down and make it through at least 7 innings.

2. Keep Jason fucking Grilli in the fucking bullpen! If "Lung Rot" Leyland pitches him in any situation other than a blowout, he should be fucking fired.

Gravatar jim leyland and fired should never be in the same sentence.

Gravatar Anyone know why MSU is called the Spartans? Well Mr. Spartan, you are the Spartans because Michigan and Ann Arbor has long been known as the Athens of the Midwest. Why Athens you may ask? Because we are the intellectuals, or for you "smart people". And who were Athens rivals? Sparta.....hmm. You guys are so lame, that you have to name your schools mascot in retaliation to us. Go home you pansy ass Spartan and get a life. How about you stop revolving your life around everything Michigan does.

Michigan State is a joke

Gravatar Leyland = Slightly below .500 record for his career

Leyland = Overrated

End.

Gravatar MichiganStudent:

Well, you certainly showcased your intellectual nature with that grammatical abortion. Let me guess, you got into all of the real Ivies, but you chose "the Harvard of the West" because it was a better fit. You didn't really want to go to Yale anyway.

Gravatar Is there really such a thing as "basic average"?

Gravatar I can't blame a guy for not wanting to go to Yale. It's so '80's Ronald Reagan Supply Side.

Gravatar There are 2 manly choices for alcoholic beverages- Canadian lager and bourbon.

Any thing less and you've either smoked a pole or will soon.

Gravatar Swish

Gravatar As soon as I hit "publish", I'm outta here and on the way to "Gertie's Booze Shack" to invest my life savings in some good ol' Kentucky Windage!

Gravatar The excuse some of my MSU friends tried to make was that the riot was started by non-MSU students. Despite the fact that 28 of the 52 people that were arrested were students.

Anyone who went to high school in Michigan knows what kinds of people get into Michigan and what kinds get into State.

Gravatar Via umgoblue.com - the freep has a nice article up on Feagin.

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.d...671/1048/ SPORTS

The highlight:
"I was hoping he'd (Pryor) come so I can compete against him, but now I can play against him. So that's even better."

Oh and can someone tell my why the white sox have dyed blond goatees? So lame.

Gravatar "Yeah, I was sort of confused w/ the lack of Slocum on the 2-deep, anywhere."

I heard on the radio within the last week or so that Slocum still has to catch up in the conditioning department. It might have been during an interview Sam Webb did on-air with RR. I hope he sees the field... he's been trying to make the team for a long time, and plenty of other guys would have given up and gone elsewhere.

Gravatar Hey! Charlton Heston died. I wonder if anyone's taken his gun yet.

Too soon?

Gravatar Ninja:

Is it safe to play Cop Killer yet?

Gravatar Feagin is beastly...at least with his words. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do

Gravatar http://gobluemichiganwolverine.b...e.blogspot.com/

Has a lot of great stuff up about this weekend's coaching clinic.

Gravatar That joke was too easy to let go unsaid, and I'm just the jerk to say it.

In completely retarded news, I always thought Feagin was pronounced Fee-Ginn, but it turns out it's Fay-Gun. Who's the first idiot to decide "Raygun Feagin" is a good option? Herbie? Musberger? I have yet to decide what I'll do when I first hear it, but it's gonna be something very, very bad.

Gravatar Soylent Green is people! The whole Chuck Heston thing got me to wondering - if Lloyd loved him some Russell Crowe, who's gonna be on RR's sideline? I'm hoping he represents for his peeps and we see a smokin' hot Latina, maybe Salma Hayek or Eva Longoria. That should fire the boys up.

Gravatar Couple of things on the depth chart

-Clemons is playing slot for the moment

-Zirbel has played very well, he may not be displaced later

-Panter is now starting and has been great

Mike Adams (one of OSU's five star line recruits) has suffered an injury and may be out for the season.

Gravatar fuck him. I hope he gets ass cancer and he and his whore mom die drown in vomit.

Gravatar WTF Tigers????

Am I the only ass monkey who is glad he didn't waste money on a tiger season ticket package.

I guess I'll just give my money to Ilitch by ordering a ton of little caesars pizzas

Gravatar "Hey! Charlton Heston died. I wonder if anyone's taken his gun yet."
Don't root for your team, Ninja, but that is funny... BTW hope Herbie Or Mush aren't dislexic and call "Fay Gun" -Gay Fun
I'll be watching and commenting
Later all

Gravatar "You can have my gun when you pry it from my..."

LOL

Thanks Chuck- The 2nd Amendment is FOREVER!!!!

Gravatar @JHS

OSU olineman not Mike Adams- but Suhgarts got leg whipped, and if you mean "out for the season" as in spring practice then maybe, the prognosis right now is day to day

Gravatar idiots.

Gravatar No P&C, it was Adams, he has a shoulder issue. He'll probably be back later in the year though, looks like everyone over at Bucknuts panicked a bit early.

Gravatar love the tag line on ESPN MLB's website.

"JUST PLAIN AWFUL"

I want to cry...

drinking now...

Gravatar "We'll be fine. Why is everyone panicking? It's the first six games of the season for chrisakes! Now excuse me while I jump out of this building."

Gravatar I hope everyone caught Pete Carroll's little April Fool's joke:

God I want to Win Forever (TM).

Gravatar I hate Michigan. Crazy liberal pot-heads.

Gravatar Ninja, that joke was as lame as FDRs legs.

too soon?

Gravatar The Tigers start is the universe correcting itself.

After rewarding the long suffering fans with an entirely unexpected World Series run, the bandwagon started to fill up. Last year we all got to enjoy, together, the full stadium, no-hitter, and pennant chase.

Now though, the original fans are being shoved out of the stadium by housewives who just love the Tigers and middle managers that are here to see some fuckin' wins!

So, with a stadium full of jackass fake Tiger fans, what better punishment from the Gods than an 0-6 start?

Gravatar That's awesome news, distant gerbil warning.

A wet dream come true! Newsome is visiting UM with his family, as is Bryce McNeal! Maybe Newsome will like UM and start to consider us more strongly!!

Gravatar yes, will all you bandwagon fans please jump off now, so there will be some tix available for the yankees series? kthxbi

Gravatar Does anyone have a take on the Texas QB's that could be transfering. GJ Kinne is already gone and Sherrod Harris might be next. Are any of these guys a good fit for Michigan and were they highly ranked QB's out of HS? thanks!

Gravatar I'm a much bigger douche than BGH. But he lives in Ohio, so he has that going for him.

How did this contest get narrowed down between him and me?

Gravatar @ cincy

i think its been speculated that Harris was gonna stick w/ texas, doesnt really mean anything though, Ive seen nothing to confirm this. dont know anything about the other kid

Gravatar Harris was 3* in rivals, 4* in scout. Dual-threat, but more on the pass side than the run.

Gravatar When does hockey start back up? This weekend?

Also, why is there such a gap in between the qualifying rounds and the FF? Seems like a total buzz kill.

Gravatar Thanks all!

the NCAA basketball tourney didnt want their thunder stolen

Gravatar Is anyone else the least bit disappointed that the Tigers new era has turned us into whiny, entitled fans of a team with a massive payroll (see: Yankees, Red Sox fans)?

Gravatar The NCAA bball tourney was crushed after last week. I found it less interesting when it was 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1.

Who's everyone got?

Gravatar I don't think it's whiny or entitled to expect something better than an 0-6 start, during which time the team has been pretty much uncompetitive. If the team's 15 games over .500 in September and people are still complaining, then that's a little more whiny and entitled. I also think it's still way too early to start to panic and it pains me that I even have to type that because so many people are freaking out.

Gravatar I think anyone ready to drive the Tigers season into the river already needs to take a deep breath. Remember when the Yankees were under .500 like 60 games into the season last year?

Gravatar Here's the thing - if the Tigers lost 6 straight in July, no one would bat an eye. The fact that it's happening now, has everyone reaching for their nooses.

Gravatar It's the notion of "expecting" anything from a team - can't I just watch baseball and my favorite franchise in any professional sport without listening to all the Clones, panic jockeys, and dudes in the office getting their faces red because of the bad start...I try to avoid it but now that the Tigs are "supposed" to be good, it's fucking everywhere. It makes dex a sad man :(

Gravatar That's a great point chitown, although I think people would probably, "bat an eye." Still, the response would be nowhere near as irrational as it is now.

Gravatar Baseball doesn't really start to matter until July anyways. There should be nothing but dex-like enjoyment when watching the Tigers.

Gravatar Yankees were under .500 like 60 games into the season last year?

I think I've had to bring that up about 5000 times in the past week - and the thing of it is, the same people I was talking to were also adamant that the Yankees would eventually turn it around and that ESPN was overhyping their bad start.

Then people toss out the "x number of teams never finished better than x when starting 0-x", but that's weak to me. Like chitown said, if this happened in July when they were 20 games over .500, not many people would freak. All that stat means to me is that WS Champs/Playoff teams/whaever have not historically had their losing streaks in the first weeks of the season. I don't think it guarantees anything. A great converse would be how many teams starting 5-0 or whatever have *missed* the playoffs.

Gravatar I heard on ESPN radio this morning that Mike Golic's second oldest son just committed to ND. (His oldest son will be a Freshman there this fall). Does anyone know if his sons are any good or are they just pure legacy commitments?

Gravatar They definitely have the genes - their father and uncle were both All-Pro players.

Gravatar yoahelra

Gravatar You're right, MRG, losing 6 straight would raise an eyebrow, but not cause hysteria.

The year they went to the WS, didn't they basically hit a free-fall at the end of the year, losing the division on the last day of the season? Were people going as nuts at the beginning of that slide as they are now?

Gravatar Unlike financial investments, my expectations of future results are based on past performance. When those two fail to match is when I get upset. Not enough to ruin my day or anything, just general displeasure. Clearly, history would suggest that the Tigers should be something better than the lowest scoring team in the AL.

I wish I could continue to simply enjoy watching the Tigers or any other team as they continue to lose, but I'm not programmed that way. That's not to say that I stopped watching the Tigers or Pistons when they sucked. Just that their sucktitude lessened my enjoyment as a whole. The degree to which my enjoyment was diminished was tempered by the fact that I knew Mike Maroth was going to get lit up.

Having said all of that, 99% of this probably does not relate at all to the mouth breathers on sports talk radio that you are referring to.

Gravatar They started out 56-29 in the first half of 2006, and were 36-38 the 2nd half.

Gravatar Also, people who use the "only 4 teams who started the season 0-6 have ever made the playoffs" need to look at this stat.

Only 1 time has all #1's made the Men's Basketball Final Four.

That year was this year. Those stats are stupid.

Gravatar Yes, you are not the type I am talking MRG. I'm talking about the people calling to Fire Leyland, Cabrera is a failure, Dombrowski is a moron, etc. crowd that is completely ripping this team apart after 6 games when they were loudly proclaiming 162-0 a week ago.

Don't get me wrong, I want them to win, but if I can sit through a run to 120 losses I can handle a bad start in perspective.

Gravatar That stat about 0 and whatever teams and the playoffs is retarded. You know what most 0 and whatever teams have in common? Shitty players. Clearly, the Tigers have decent players that have yet to perform to their potential.

Except the bullpen. They're about where I thought they'd be.

Gravatar the 08RC golic son is a meh 3 star, iirc.

Hockey plays Thursday @ 9pm EDT. winner plays Sat.

tigers: while you can't win a pennant in April, you can certainly lose one. should this slide continue for another 2 weeks (not winless, but if they start like 5-20 or something just as ugly), they could be more than 10 games out. now, is this team 10 games better than anyone in the division over 140 games? doubtful.

and their problems aren't just the hitting. hot bats won't get you to .700 baseball. maybe .600 or .650... they need everything to turn around sooner than later.

Gravatar is this tigersgoblog.com?

Gravatar @MRG,

Last night during the Tigers game, the announcers were talking about some Baltimore Orioles team in the 80's (I think '88?) and they started 0-21. They had amazing players on their team. Look it up.

Gravatar All those comments are funny, because:

1. The effect a manager actually has on the outcome of a game is TINY. The most important decisions they make are who to play, and in bullpen management. Things like calling for SB's, or hit-and-runs, or bunts and all that are really just meaningless noise. Leyland has done a good job of putting his best players on the field. Before you act like that's super-easy, let me point you to Dusty Baker.

2. The idea that any Tiger fan would have the stones to pillory Dave Dombrowski is mind-boggling. The fact that they're even in a position to be disappointed is because DD has been an absurd, rioutous success. The fact that this team went to a WS 3 seasons after losing 120 games is an outright miracle.

3. the idea that people think that Cabrera's last 5 games of production outweigh the previous 4 seasons doesn't deserve to have their arguments adressed.

Gravatar Maize4blue - I remember that Orioles team. They did have 2 HOF players (Ripkin, Eddie Murray), but the team, in general, was horrible.

Gravatar Obviously, the Tigers are clogging the basepaths and not sac-bunting enough.

Gravatar dex i thought you were a girl.

Gravatar I was born a woman.

Gravatar @chitownblue 00,

Was it '88?

How many teams have had more than 2 HOF's playing at once?

Gravatar imo, baseball manager is the most over rated HC in sports (aside from HC in Lawn Darts, obvs). at least at the MLB level.

most of the decisions are made based on the %ages. a hitters all time BA vs a pitcher, vs lefties, etc. rest guys for a day game after a night game. etc.

Gravatar I looked up that '88 Orioles team.

They did have Mickey Tettleton and Fred Lynn - both good players, both got hurt, and had under 250 AB's. Their AB's were then absorbed by things named Jim Traber, Terry Kennedy, Ken Gerhart, and Rene Gonzales. Brady Anderson was a little used rookie on this team.

Their other starters were known-sucks Rick Schu, Bill Ripken, and Joe Orsulak.

The fact that Jeff Ballard was their best SP should sum up their staff well.

That's not a good team, by any estimation. The comparison to the Tigers isn't valid, unless guys start dropping like flies.

Gravatar How many teams have had more than 2 HOF's playing at once?

every yankee team from 1923-1965. and then some.

Gravatar why oh why are you discussion the freaking 88 orioles?

Are you that bored? If so, why not talk about the spring game instead.

I will be dropping in on it.

Gravatar DanK,

I meant to include the Yankee stipulation.

Gravatar Fred Lynn had to be 100 years old at that point, correct?

(I have his rookie card! Yes, I plan on an early retirement based on the proceeds of its eventual sale.)

Gravatar holy crap getting to work today was insane. I need a six pack and some ruffles.

Gravatar Maize4Blue - if a lineup has 2 HOF players (neither of whom, BTW, played that well in 1988 - Ripken hit .264/.372/.431, Murray hit .284/.361/.474 - that's a good year for Ripken, a poor year, by Eddie Murray standards) and 7 worthless POS's, the team still won't hit.

As far as bad teams with 2 HOF's? Last year's Braves team (Smoltz, Chipper, Andruw Jones) pops into my head immediately.

Gravatar Because there was no spring game, and the scrimmage was closed to the public.

Gravatar IM GOING TO WIN THE FREAKING BRACKET

HAHAHA

sorry, haven't had my morning joe yet.

Gravatar Gee Terrelle, if you have info about the spring game feel free to post it.

Wait, you don't? Ok...

Gravatar don't forget the yankees from 95-2001. rivera, jeter. but i geuss they fall under the yankee stipulation too.

Gravatar hey guys!

Tyrik Rollison is interested in us!!

what a great monday morning.

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?...c=1& nid=3473822

Gravatar It says Fredd Lynn was 37. But he still hit well that year.

Fun fact - apparently a 20 year old Curt Schilling made his debut on that team, and got shelled in 2 starts.

Gravatar BTW, my team is looking for ball players. A2 league. hardball. wood bat. this sunday is the 1st practice as well as the league tryouts.

Gravatar Rollison won't divulge is core GPA. "I haven't gotten my GPA updated in a while and I don't know what it is," he said. He plans on taking the ACT for the first time on April 12.

Gravatar The '84 Tigers had three Hall of Famers. Trammell, Whitaker and Morris. Uh, what? Really? None of them?

Gravatar The fact that Whitaker and Trammel aren't HOF's is ridiculous.

Gravatar ludachris-
Where do you see anything about him being interested in us? I don't even see any Big 10 in his interest list. Che pasa?

Gravatar Justin Turner Reads Wolverine Commentary

April 03 2008 10:30 PM - Daily Sports

In an obvious response to Wolverine Commentary’s piece on the UM defensive back, Turner told the media today just the opposite.

"Yes, I'm excited about my first year," Turner said. "I plan on being here four years."

Around the office we have long suspected that the Turner turns to “mgoblog.com” for the latest news on their careers and lives. Thanks for confirming that Justin.

Gravatar That's awesome to me.

Gravatar Chitownblue,

Trammel didn't do enough backflips, somersaults and cartwheels while making routine plays to satisfy the HoF voters.

Gravatar There are too many teams that had multi hall of famers to even mention. Take your pick of Red Sox, Reds, and Dodgers teams. Tigers? Ty Cobb played with Sam Crawford (and I stopped looking for more on that team.) The era of free agency will only increase this number. Diamondbacks? Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling stand an excellent chance. Mets? Let's have some fun and say Tom Glavine and Pedro.

Gravatar Right. So why is everyone worrying? 6 games is nothing to HOF's.

Go Tigers!

Gravatar Sweet Lou didn't have enough grit, and Trammell once didn't answer a phone call from Woody Paige, so they are automatically DQ'ed.

Gravatar Potentially, this Tiger team has perhaps 4 HOFs in Cabrera, Sheff, Pudge, and Magglio. Although Sheff will probably have BALCO held against him and Maggs is the definition of long shot.

Plus you never know how Grandy and Verlander will end up.

Gravatar If Ron Santo and Dick Allen aren't in the HOF because they were generally dicks to the press, I can see a similar fate befalling Sheffield. Plus, Santo and Allen aren't known sterouid users.

Gravatar Not being selected to the HOF because you didn't like the press, while known hate mongering racist Ty Cobb sits in there, is mind-boggling.

Gravatar Dex,

Ty Cobb being a racist shouldn't exclude him from the hall of fame. All of MLB was racist. So was much of the US for that matter. I'm amazed that somehow Ty Cobb is always made to be the posterboy for racism in a sport that was horribly biggoted and racist.

Gravatar I'm not defending it, merely saying that seeing players not receive hardware from MVP's to HOF's because they're not cozy with the press isn't unheard of.

Gravatar Anybody else's Haloscan showing them ads for ukraine women?

Gravatar @Jay

Totally agree. My point was that the press is completely off base in excluding guys they don't like personally because personal beliefs, attitudes, should be irrelevant to your performance as a baseball.

@chitown

I know, it's just wacky. I hate baseball writers.

Gravatar Dex, the better you are the more of an jerk you can be. For instance, I'm a tremendous asshole but I'm great pretty much everything, so people love me.

Gravatar Correction:

Irrelevant to performance as a baseball player. There probably aren't many baseballs elected to the HOF.

Gravatar I think Field of Dreams is what the media/sports writers think what a HOF player should act like.

Living in the corn in Iowa.

Gravatar Hey, it's not as bad as the black-balling of Dick Allen, who was pilloried by the media when he asked out of Philly - where they threw batteries at him every time he took the field.

Gravatar This blog sucks.

Gravatar David Eckstein wouldn't care if the crowd tossed batteries at him.

Possibly because it's virtually impossible to hit a 3'9" invisible fairy riding a unicorn with a battery, but whatever.

Gravatar Is there any prevailing wisdom/guess as to why Morgan Newton has no offer?

Gravatar And Darin Erstad would punt all the batteries away before they hurt him.

Gravatar Maize4Blue,

Am I the only one who thinks Field of Dreams was a shitty movie? I never understood why people seem to gush over that flick.

Gravatar Morgan Newton, come on..do you really want a QB with a name that sounds like a 65 year old investment banker? He must be a pussy.

Gravatar yo yo check the rhime

Gravatar I wouldn't care if the kid was named Woody Hayes as long as he was a viable QB prospect interested in Michigan.

Gravatar amenz

Gravatar Jay,

Field of Dreams did lack top-end story writing.

Gravatar Field of Dreams was a pretty damn good movie- you guys are on crack.

A QB named Darin Erstad would probably help prevent all the Blue Hairs from having heart attacks due to all the change going on with the program. And as I'm pro-Blue Hair heart attack this is a decidedly bad thing. Put me on the Anti-Darin Erstad Bandwagon.

Gravatar A qb named Morgan Newton*....

I'm an idiot.
