How does everyone feel about a blog (more like a website) that houses all this awards crap?
Also houses other articles, blog posts from the main core of college football bloggers.
I could set it up, but would people use it?

Not to start a site so people can complain about them, rather have a centralized location for them to be hosted at. I currently have no desire to travel to any other site than mgoblog.
It was just a question. I took those first 3 comments as a sign that people get bothered when their favorite blogger blogs about something their not interested in. This would alleviate that.
I'll take your comment as that no one is interested.
Thanks.

Do the Tigers have any other decent up-in-coming closers? How long can we ride out Todd Jones?
Aren't they grooming Zumaya to be a closer, though lately the only thing he's good at is closing the last few notes of his guitar hero solo.
Is there anyone else? It's hard following the Tigers out here in DC. I miss my youth when I was so close to Detroit.

I agree that a centralized location for all the blog awards is a good idea. However, I think the reason they are spread out on a handful of blogs is so less frequented, but quality blogs can get some traffic. I think your idea is a good one, though.

@Jim Harbaugh Scramble
I totally agree. I understand why they do it this way. Spread it out, get readers to go to different blogs, see if they'll like/follow them. It's especially important since a lot of them have Google Ad-Sense or other online advertising deals. Definitely wouldn't want to impede on that.
I was just playing around with the idea. It would be cool if there was a Big Ten governing blog devoted to covering/forwarding people to the various big ten sites; though with a less commercialized aspect, like most of the upper-level sports sites.
Hey, here's to thinking. Thanks.

zumaya was all-word a couple of years ago and then the guitar hero injury happened, and now this moving boxes during a fire injury happened, and hell probably never be the same again, which is a damn shame. rodney looked capable to be a closer, and then he lost control of his fastball and he started to get lit up by hitters. when he can control his fastball he is damn good considering he has a wicked change-up, but he often relies on it too much. so, to answer your question, no, the tigers do not have any up and coming closers unless rodney and zumaya can go back to 2006 and replicate their performances throughout that season
der |

@der
Do you foresee any mid-season trades for a closer if TJ doesn't get it together. I mean, he's pretty consistent in that he's not inconsistent. But under the right circumstance he does alright.
Wasn't there word of trading Jones or him going somewhere else after last season? I might be wrong.
Maize4Blue |
03.04.08 - 4:53 pm | #
|
|
i dont see any trades happening. in 2006, when zumaya was dominating and jones was in the middle of his rollercoaster act(like every other year) leyland made it clear that jones was going to close games as long as jones had a right arm attached to his body. leyland is very stubborn with his closers and does not like to change and experiment with them. i did not hear of any talk of trading jones. just the usual griping of the fans about tj. i highly, highly doubt that they deal for a closer this season, even though i would be all for it. however, the tigers did have interest in octavio dotel last year, i think, but im pretty sure that they still wanted jonsey to close games.
anyone have the 1962-1966 beatles greatest hits cd? if you do, listen to day tripper and tell me thats not hendrix. i dont get how they would mistakenly claim hendrix to be the beatles and then put it on cd. no way is that george playing guitar...

Day Tripper's is not that hard a riff to play. Even so, George was supposed to be one of the better musicians (as in with instruments) of the Beatles. There is a version of Day Tripper done by Hendrix. It was on some cd with the word radio in the title. There is also a live version of him playing it.

i just found it wierd that the hendrix version of the song would be on a beatles cd. noel redding does a pretty good job of trying to sound like john, though, ill give him that. you can also hear hendrix talking in the background, but you can tell that george is not playing guitar when hendrix starts his solo, when he breaks out of the riff. maybe the song isnt supposed to be on the cd and i put the song under the wrong album. confusing stuff. its a double cd with the first cd called 1962-1966 and the second one called 1967-1970. maybe an anthology cd?

I know what albums you're talking about. You know, the ones where all four are looking down from a balcony. Just listen to the albums. Get Past Masters vol. 2. It has singles from 1965 and on and is just heavenly. Then get all of the other albums from Rubber Soul and on.
I was playing Antonio Bass as my QB for my second season of NCAA 08. We were playing at Oklahoma St when he got injured. Yup, 7 weeks out. Fuck. And he is so good at running the option. I won at OSU after beating Utah and then we play at Notre Dame followed by USF at home. Then the Big 10 schedule starts. Imagine that for a real life OOC schedule.

I'd like to request donations from the crowd, so that I can perform a psychological and sociological study on the readers who post comments that involve panic about the recruiting class at this stage.
I am interested in finding out how these people deal with daily events. For instance, recruiting classes are traditionally, especially at Michigan, rounded out until the winter and the approach of signing day. So, people begin to panic in early March when we do not have a strong class. Nearly one year from the National Signing Day. I would like to see how these people react in a similar, real-life situation. Paychecks are usually distributed on Fridays. This does not change very often. Do these people come into work on Tuesdays and panic when they do not have their upcoming check yet?
Further, I'd like to investigate their reasoning abilities. Most normal humans are able to realize that if they had the ability to run a football team, they'd most likely be at least involved with running a football team somewhere. The fact they are not is a piece of solid evidence that they are not qualified for such a job.
Continuing on that note, most people would look at the career of Rich Rodriguez and figure that to
a. Have a track record of success
and
b. Continually be promoted through the ranks of college football
he must be fairly capable at what he does. I intend to determine why, in the face of all evidence, these people believe that Rich Rodriguez does not know what conference he is coaching in and instead of recruiting, masturbates wildly onto his office paper shredder.
If Coach Rodriguez is so neglectful of his duties, it is out of character and downright bizarre. In that case, I need to know how these select few genius posters have determined this well ahead of anyone else.
Thank You for your money.

I need a new michigan shirt, and can't find anything cool without a stupid nike swoosh or bright yellow color online. I've got a cool faded off-yellow (spicy brown mustardish) shirt i got at steve and barry's like 10 yrs ago, but it's got permanent pit stains (yes, gross).
In fact, I remember steve and barry's had a bunch of simple but cool michigan shirts that you couldn't find elsewhere. Unfortunately, I'm over 1000 miles away and for some dumb reason they don't do interweb sails.
Anyone have any ideas for where I can find a simple cool shirt? I may end up getting one of those linked from this site (maybe 'worst state ever'), but would love some other options.
Also, whatever happened to that michigan superman-style shirt that used to be advertised on here?

yeah, dex, i like 'in rod we trust' but most people wouldn't get it. If anything they might just assume it's a simpsons thing, but I think 90% of folks would have no clue at all. If only it said 'michigan' somewhere on it...damn copyright issues. same with 'worst state ever.' most people outside the midwest would never recognize that worthless blob as ohio.
Why is it so hard to find a simple shirt that just says 'michigan' in block letters and in a cool faded color and doesn't have a stupid nike swoosh? and that superman shirt looked awesome! where did it go, dammit?

First we need to locate the posters in question IRL. I propose the best way to do this will be spreading our selves throughout the stadium on opening day against Utah. The first time M goes 3 and out, listen for the over the top complaining and arm chair coaching that these people cannot help themselves from doing. Note their seats. When it is halftime, and M is only up 21-6, they will be the ones loudly proclaiming that RR is overrated and we need to run or pass more (it will be the opposite of what we did in the 1st half) and that the new D co-ordinator is in over his head.
Then follow them to the bathroom, hit them over the head with a hammer, and leave their body in a dumpster.

bgh,
I had an admittedly brief stint training in mixed martial arts - grappling and standup fighting - and every single one of my trainers and sparring partners were confusingly proud of their cauliflower ears. Those who didn't yet have one were hoping to eventually "earn" one. I thought it was friggin' disgusting and everytime I had one rubbing against my face as they contorted me into positions of extreme pain I felt like hurling; which, come to think of it, probably would've been an effective way to get out aforementioned position of pain.

how can you go wrong when you stick a bunch of publicity hungry, over-dramatic sluts of questionable character in a mansion stocked to the gills with white wine?
Answer: Don't include me. Here's why:
A) I happen to love sluts.
B) I'm not terribly over-dramatic, and I'm a guy, but I'm definitely a slut of questionable character.
C) If by "white wine" you mean Jager and by "mansion" you mean a van down by the river, this already describes my life.
I haven't seen the show, but assuming their not too bad I'm all about it. I'm in a slump that's so bad I'm willing to do just about anything that moves right now. Seriously. It's so bad that when I walk in the room fish stop swimming.
@gsimmons: Dude! Where are you watching Dr. No teach the bump and run? I know everyone else is all about the "cautious optimism" but screw that- if I'm gonna be disappointed I'm gonna do it huge. 3 years from now our D will be totally and utterly unstoppable, our offense will foresake running and simply teleport to the endzone, and congress will pass a law making it legal for Barwis to snap the necks of every whiny little bitch he ever comes in contact with, just by using his mind. I totally believe this.
