How come we get someone from the Sierra Club at our Rotary meeting, and the AA Club gets Coach Carr? I knew there was a reason living in NJ sucked. Anyone know if BTN is negotiating with Cablevision?

Thanks for the mention Brian, and I'll note, the not getting a parking ticket was the best moment of the day yesterday, edging out getting to tell Jamie Morris yesterday that I appreciated his defense of being a Michigan man, even if it wasn't in the best circumstance for him (and he politely told me he appreciated that).

hmm could someone please explain to me what those shirts exactly mean by saying "never graduate". does it mean that people never graduate cuz they are always part of the university? does it mean that people never graduate cuz its so much fun being there? or does it mean that they never graduate cuz theyre too studpid to?

mm could someone please explain to me what those shirts exactly mean by saying "never graduate".
w/r/t the Ohio State and Michigan State, the shirts speak to the collective intelligence of the student bodies. But it's all in good fun!

actually, I agree with the sentiments of comment #3, this shirt might actually be taken as you are forever a part of the university - the opposite of the snark that's intended...

Sigh....another dig. Then I take a look over yonder at the shape of Motown/Big 3, hive for many UM graduates and realize that maybe its not so bad.
Sounds like your boy gonna turn his back on Detroit, Peoria, Chi-town, Indiana, Ohio and just recruit Mass/Conn/WV for gems...thats a real smart long term move. I like systems and all but they only take teams so far. Eventually it gets down to talent....

My fault, didn't realize it was a Nike site and they were trying to be superbad and stuff. I guess we gave that all up when we became a Reebok school.

Yeah, the shirts imply that one is always a part of the university... although in the case of OSU and MSU, it's damn funny.
Check these shirts out too:

um, yeah, if the shirt is a 'dis', it's really not quite that.
and it seems to me to be like a 'never grow up!' sort of sentiment.

The new 3rd string goalie is 5' 7"? I'm 5'9". Damn Berenson and his refusal to scout unbelievably bad high school leagues in New Jersey.

Wow... lots of ships passing in the night. Okay, folks, nice and slow now:
Yes, the t-shirts are intended to be inspirational, implying that the alumni are so devoted that they will never "graduate" and leave the designated school behind. They are not joke t-shirts made by open enemies of these schools (and they're not part of Brian's snarky t-shirt line); they are intended to be marketed to fans of those schools.
But, you see, it is also possible to read the message as in insult, should you so choose. And you should so choose.
It is therefore the perfect gift for a Michigan fan to give a buckeye or a spartan. Just pretend the gift is entirely sincere and intended in the spirit of the manufacturer. It's even better if the recipients never figure out the alternative interpretation and remain forever oblivious: never quite sure why Michigan fans love the shirt and never able to figure out what everybody is snickering about.
It's... uh... "meta." See?

I would wear that shirt. I graduated 2 years ago from tOsu and my cousin (a sophmore) asked how its going. I walked up to him, grabbed his fat face, and shook it and said "never graduate" over and over.

All Harbaugh, all the time! I found this article somewhat interesting. Apparently, Harbaugh's been bashing Cal as well. Unfortunately, he's using old GSR data and not the new APR.

There's also this impossibly long, but quite informational article, featuring an interview with Cal's academic coordinator for football:
http://california.scout.com/2/65...m/2/
650159.html
"Q - Are Cal's standards the same as at, say, UCLA or Oregon?
A - I can't speak to what the other schools are. But I do know of two guys, just offhand, where we've had recruits that we couldn't get in - but they got into Stanford."
