Gravatar First!

Gravatar Damn anonymous- ya gotta get a life!

VA Wolv

Gravatar Am I third? Yeah, biatches, where are your heathen NFL Gods now?

Gravatar Thuck, I'm thourth...

Gravatar I'm saving my comments for the informative update thread since this one will just be buried.

Gravatar 4.73 speed? Lets see what Barwis has to say about that.

Gravatar Mitch Albom should be buried.

See I can write one line with impact too.

Gravatar good choice Floyd. so far you meet the 'great name' test. you got potential kid.

Gravatar Living in the Palmetto State, I'm quite pleased that Michigan was able to beat out the homestate schools for Floyd.

(Now watch as Floyd blows out his knee, AntonioBass-style...)

Gravatar Yes. I can now stare aimlessly for hours at a commitment list now, knowing it's just a tad longer than yesterdays.

I hate my love for recruiting.

Gravatar I don't think anyone who has an acronym for a name passes a great name test. Since this thread is going to be pushed to the side in a little while anyways, does anyone think Mbball has a chance against Minn tonight?

I tend to think that they can beat them at Crisler. Especially with Cazzie and Rudy T in the building.

Gravatar why make a connection to antonio bass for his knee? also, has anyone noticed that we are slowly building a pipeline outta south carolina??

Gravatar Does Voshon Leonard still play for Minnesota?

Gravatar Pipelines out of the south and Ohio are great as long as we can keep the top flight in-state talent here too. I hope Nick Perry commits. That would be huge.

Gravatar Wait, what happened to Antonio Bass? Is he coming back this year?

Gravatar the "JT" isn't great but "FLOYD" is beautiful and you cannot deny that.

Gravatar dex

No but Ryan "Lil' Flip" Saunders does.

Gravatar Bass is never playing a sport again. he still can't even walk the same. its a shame.

Gravatar His triangle numbers arent all that impressive(4.73, can barely bench his body weight 3 times), but this kid must obviously be something on the field if Tennessee was all over him, and a host of other top-half ACC/SEC schools were chasing him. Anybody seen his tape and can shed a little light for us?

Gravatar Part of me would rather have Perry than Pryor.

I think we need another big pass rusher off the edge. We missed Lamaar woodley a lot this past year.

Gravatar I've got an idea. Lets discuss if Antonio Bass is going to ever play again.

Gravatar Why can't we have both Perry and Pryor? Salary cap issues?

Gravatar anyone else think that phil fulmer looks like a pig? not as much as george karl, but still.

Gravatar @07michgrad

I think I can take credit for the pipeline coming out of SC. HS kids get a look at my Sex Mustache, and they absolutely want to follow in my collegiate footsteps. This state is LOCKED DOWN, and y'all should be thanking me for the sacrifices I make for the team, the team, THE TEAM!

Sex Mustache, bitches. Sex Mustache.

Gravatar Soon there will be a Schembechler day in Michigan.

http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/ ...et_own_off.html

What sorts of rites and traditions will be associated with Schembechler day?

Gravatar USC fans will kick us in the balls.

Gravatar Antonio Bass got hurt? What?

Gravatar Perry seems to be settling into choosing UM...Im basing this off the 3 scout.com analysts predicting he'll come to us. They must know a little more than us, I hope.

And I would kick him to the curb for Terrell Pryor in a second, if we were only choosing one. But maybe...just maybe...we'll be landing both next Tuesday.

Gravatar gravy:

people while have to speak to each other in corny, overwrought colloquisms and there will also be a re-enactment of ernie harwell's firing.

Gravatar @dex

There was a run on Corvettes. We only have 1 to give away to either Pryor or Perry. Or they could "share" the Vette, but to a HS kid that probably seems a little gay (NTTAWWT).

Gravatar Perry will come to UofM, no question. thats what my "insiders" have been telling me

Gravatar @cfaller

Shit, we can't Perry a line of credit to set up an Escalade or something? That kid wouldn't fit in a Vette anyway.

Gravatar dex

didn't mean it like UM had to choose just saying geting perry would soften the blow of not getting pryor.

of course we don't have salary cap issues, that is something tsou has to worry about

Gravatar Well, judging from the photo, Pryor can't fit in a Vette either. It's the lifestyle, dex, not the make & model of the car per se.

Gravatar Steve Perry, you mean? "I SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE"

(Oh, Sherri) Anyone? Nevermind.

Gravatar Has anyone seen WVUs recruiting class? I don't think they'll be trashing RichRod for much longer once they realize Bill Stewart couldn't lure a 3-star recruit to Morgantown if he had 4 national titles and a 100 dollar bill hanging out of his zipper.

Gravatar Perry is now taking a visit to Miami. This is probably old news.

I bet Pryor goes to Penn State and trades his Vette in for a K-car. There will be scandal when he uses the handicapped sticker that he found in the glove compartment.

Gravatar @DC

I know. I just can't pass up a cheap joke.

@cfaller

Well, if lifestyle is so important, it appears Orbitz has some travel packages available that might interest the two of them.

Gravatar Living in the Palmetto State, I'm quite pleased that Michigan was able to beat out the homestate schools for Floyd.

(Now watch as Floyd blows out his knee, AntonioBass-style...)
cfaller96 | Homepage | 01.31.08 - 11:37 am | #

Dude! Smiling faces and Beautiful Places, man. Think positively.

Gravatar @Huss

I always thought RichRod was a good coach, but when Brian did a PiH on him and pointed out how much of barren wasteland the state of WFV is for HS talent, my eyes bugged out and I immediately got a mancrush on the Rod. WFV doesn't know what they lost (or they do, which would explain the hostility).

Gravatar yeah, never reference an injury to our recruits. its gotta be bad luck.

Gravatar @Huss

Thank you so much for the image of Bill Stewart trapping a recruit in a broom closet, so he can show him a 100 dollar bill hanging out of his zipper.

Gravatar THEY COULD ALSO GET SOME DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS ON OVERSTOCK.COM, GOTTA HAVE THE BLING TO GO WITH WHIP YO!

Gravatar "people while have to speak to each other in corny, overwrought colloquisms and there will also be a re-enactment of ernie harwell's firing"

bgh, you must be an Islamohomofascicommunist or something. Schembechler Day will feature ritual disembowelings of non-believers onstage in Hill Auditorium, and you're at the top of the list.

I'm second.

Gravatar cfaller:

If you look at the 2009 Rivals 100, Michigan isn't such a fertile recruiting ground either. Alabama's recruiting class this year is almost entirely from Alabama -- with a few kids from Georgia, Tennessee, LA etc. thrown in.

I don't know what my point is, however.

Gravatar @dex

I don't think Pryor and Perry have any interest in sitting on a beach with that MILF and her 8 year old daughter. Just sayin'.

Or is that NOT part of the Orbitz package? Brian's new ad machine has my little brain confused.

Gravatar @dex,

So you're playing clueless for this thread? Can I play BILG you fucking apologist? Get off this board.

Gravatar Michigan is right next to Ohio and has a foothold in PA though, two huge states for football talent.

Gravatar im just saying that bo wasnt all he was cracked up to be. good coach, great coach, yeah. but the michigan man bullshit, the holier than thou attitude? thats all a product of bo, too. plus he sucked in bowls and fired ernie fuckign harwell and thats something you just cant get over.

Gravatar When's Brian going to start showing some ads for Viagra and Cialis? I'm just wondering, it's not like I need that or anything...STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT!

Gravatar @cfaller

Amen. All you need to know is this: On rivals, they only have a West Virginia Top 5. Deleware has a freaking top 5. RichRod's ability to reel in the good-not-great leftovers(guys like Devine notwithstanding) from prime states like Florida is a testament to the guys recruiting prowess. There is literally nothing appealing about WV. Nothing. I can't even come up with a joke for it. That's how unappealing it is.

@ dex.

Your welcome.

Gravatar yeah, and if you go south there is florida and if ya go little west there is california (just past texas).

Gravatar that is a seductive stare. if i wasnt at work right now....

Gravatar Is this a good article by D. Sharp?

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.d...01310354/& imw=Y

Servin' it up to Hizzonour! Still not too good...

Gravatar Past California if Fiji. And Japan, then China, Afghanistan, Iran....what?

Gravatar Who is this Pryor you speak of?

Gravatar Please don't link anything to Drew Sharp. Im doing my best to not contribute to his stories hit count. The less people that view his BS, the more likely he'll get canned some day. I hope.

Gravatar While we're on the topic of 2009 recruits, our DT recruit William Campbell got a fifth star from rivals after the all america junior combine. Also, he is very scary looking.

Gravatar @cfaller

Those ads were on during the football season.

Gravatar we recruit all over.

Gravatar I'll withdraw my previous Dan Hawkins bashing. If you look at Colorado's recruiting from last year (he didn't really have a change to recruit) to this year, there's a quantum leap there.

Gravatar ... Drew Sharp = hypocrit.

The public doesn't sympathize with a talentless synic either.

Gravatar If we get Perry, that'll be 5 of the top 8 players in Michigan(all 4 stars), including the states top 3.

Nice rebound from last year. Way, way better.

Gravatar Regarding Sharp:
The cover-up is what brings down the publicly elected and publicly anointed while a combination of fear and arrogance blinds them from appreciating the public's capacity for forgiveness.

I know Sharp isn't the only one that uses the tired cliche of "it's not the crime, it's the cover-up", but I just want to take this opportunity to point out that the cliche is total bulls--t. It's always the crime that brings these guys down, otherwise they wouldn't have to cover it up.

Thank you, that is all.

(/patronizing lecture)

Gravatar Pryor 50-50 on moving his decision back??? I say let this one go......he thinks he is bigger than the University of Michigan, well.....um, he's not!
You gotta ask.....would Bo put up with a recruits runaround like this, no way! At this point, I hope "that college in columbus" gets him, because this guy has TROUBLE written all over!

Gravatar PLEASE READ AND COMMENT:

I am not sure if a lot of people remember this...BUT....

Gary Moeller ALWAYS had top recruiting classes and many of his players came from the South and Texas. And many of these players left the program after 1-2 years, basically killing the recruiting classes. That is why Lloyd went to the "only recruit players who want to play for Michigan" guys--which are basically guys from the midwest.

There is a huge culture shock (not just the weather) for most of these minority players coming from the south and going to school in Ann Arbor. And it looks like RR could go down the same path as Moeller and have a lot of these players leave school. I am not saying that it will happen, but I am giving warning now.

We'll see what happens, but this is my prediction.

Gravatar I should really get on making something out of the website I paid 10 bucks for.

Laziness > my hatred for Drew Sharp

Gravatar He's got TROUBLE because he is making an INFORMED DECISION and not deciding RIGHT AWAY and BO would hate him.

Also, he's black.

Gravatar That state of WV "Top 5" on Rivals consists of Josh Jenkins, a 3 star lineman, a kicker, and 2 2* running backs. Sure, they border Ohio and PA, but wow is that a barren recruiting area.

Gravatar Cols sports radio (1460 Fan) beat up TP pretty good last week. They're doing hokey impressions of "celebrities" reading from the TP blog.

Some concern that Tressel will feel pressure to play him to the detriment of team's success. Not too hot on the idea of the 2-QB system.

Gravatar Robbie Thornbladh will win the Doak Walker award within 2 seasons.

YES

Gravatar westsidewolverine,

Spare us that holier-than-thou BS. If Bo were alive today, he'd be doing what he could to bring in Pryor to. What is it with you guys? You think you have the all-clear to proclaim a guy as a malcontent or primadonna just because he's relishing the recruiting process? Newsflash: Most high-profile recruits are like that. Pryor has done nothing to warrant this sort of bashing, except take his time making a decision and piss you all off with his supposed OSU lean. "Bigger than Michigan" WTF are you talking about?

Gravatar This:

Pryor 50-50 on moving his decision back??? I say let this one go......he thinks he is bigger than the University of Michigan, well.....um, he's not!
You gotta ask.....would Bo put up with a recruits runaround like this, no way! At this point, I hope "that college in columbus" gets him, because this guy has TROUBLE written all over!

...is dumb. FUCK TP FOR NOT MAKING HIS DECISION ON OUR TIME TABLE AND FOR BEING AN ASSHOLE FOR PLACING HIS FUTURE HAPPINESS OVER MY DESIRE TO FIND OUT WHERE HE COMMITTED.

Gravatar He's "Bigger than Michigan" because he didn't automatically drop to his knees and thank the good lord that Michigan is recruiting him! The audacity of that kid, to consider other schools! FUCKING PRICK!

If you only want to recruit guys who only want to play for Michigan and do not consider anyone else at all, have fun going 3-9 every year.

Gravatar @DP

First, I don't remember that being a geographical adjustment, just an adjustment away from guys who didn't bleed maize and blue but who had lots of *s. And second, I don't know that the philosophy of going after *s was a problem in and of itself- it's possible that Moeller did a s--tty job of evaluating how well a kid "fit" in with the program. Either way, I'm not worried.

Gravatar @westsidewolverine

Why we appreciate your opinion here at the mgoblog commenting threads, the use of William Shatner ellipses and exclamation points while degrading a player based on his consideration on how the rest of his life will go is less than exceptional.

Gravatar And, I hate to say it, but:

Who the fuck cares what Bo would do or say? Bo would also hate things like "the spread option", and "throwing in any situation other than 3rd and 6+".

Gravatar I don't remember lots of recruits leaving under Moeller. I'm not saying DP is wrong, but I can't think of that many. Did we have mass-transfers?

Gravatar DP,

It's a different landscape now. Most of these kids have been up north to camps, and I'm 99.99% sure that a recruit isn't going to pass on a university he really favors because he's completely unaware that it gets colder as you move further north of the equator. And as far as culture...I dont even know you can define that. They all know they're going to the winningest program in history before hand, and they know they're playing at a school where guys like Tom Brady and Charles Woodson played. Every 17/18 yr old in the country knows and loves these facts. Sometimes(well, usually), it just aint enough. With RichRod and Barwis and company, I think recruits have an extra incentive for coming here.

And by the way, Lloyd didn't go after only "michigan men"(Which is a label only apparent until AFTER these guys commit). He and his staff had theirs hands in on most top-shelf recruits. We simply didn't close, and we were left with the steak knives in most recuriting years.

Gravatar Jesus Tapdancing Christ, and now the "We're too GOOD for Pryor" trolls come out. (sigh) How old are you people that you think that taking a long time to decide is an indication of arrogance (or something else unpleasant)?

Change your diapers, old man.

Gravatar i feel like i just walked into the Player Haters Ball.

hatehatehatehatehate

Gravatar Your suit reminds me of Afghanistan....bombed out and depleted.

Gravatar I am glad TP isn't being all willy nilly with his decision. I would rather him make an informed decision, rather than commit early and have second thoughts and decommit late in the game, leaving M scrambling for a QB at the eleventh hour. As it stands now, we seem to have solid back up plans in place. It doesn't seem to me that RR will be left with his thumb in his a$$, and giving the starting gig to Threet unopposed.

Gravatar The fucking Freemasons keep calling me from "000-000-0000" as well, twice a day, every day, on my cell phone. I know it's them because when I answered once all I heard was heavy breathing.

Gravatar Bucknasty, the most diabolical player hater there ever was. So bad to see you.

Gravatar that wasnt the freemasons... it was anonymous. you damn scientologists.

Gravatar If Pryor does come here, I can only imagine the next 3 or 4 years. First we'll have a spring of people pretending they never said bad things about him or nitpicking practices they don't get to see. Then he'll throw an interception at some point, at which point they will scream for Threet. Then we'll probably lose a game, and instead of whatever football releated reason we lost, it will be because Pryor is a cancer and is dragging the happiness of the team down.

Then we'll beat OSU and everyone will forget again. Repeat 3-4 times.

Gravatar Anon has no problem with me.

Gravatar @chitown

There was a 1-2 year period when I was in college where it seemed like every other week a top athlete was transferring or quitting. Off the top of my head, Jon Ritchie (great FB) went to Stanford, Seth Richards (talented WR) quit, and Trevor Pryce (beasty DL) went to Clemson. There were a LOT of others, though.

As a result, the coaches publicly vowed to ONLY go after guys that wanted to come to M. It was towards the end of Moeller's tenure.

Gravatar Dex - You're forgetting the part where TP is a head-case because he and a wide receiver have a small bitch-session on the sidelines

Gravatar People were screaming for MALLET in the first half of the Oregon game. MALLET. Yeah, screw that 'all-time' passing leader guy, let's ride the K-Fed express.

Gravatar chitownblue,

That bastard is showing emotion! LYNCH HIM!!!!

Oh crap...poor, poor word usage.

Gravatar Trevor Pryce, I knew. I didn't realize John Ritchie wento Michigan.

Gravatar I am saying he is potentially more trouble than he is worth.......he has talent, no argument there. But even if he ends up committing to M, I just won't be excited

Gravatar Huss, Tiger Woods would like a word.

Gravatar If TP does come to M, I vow to publicly criticize everything he does...until he wakes the f--k up and grows a Sex Mustache. Sex Mustache- it cures all ills. True story.

Gravatar Is that like a Carl Winslow mustache for TP? Carl's was a gay one IIRC.

Gravatar westside,

And I'm saying you have nothing to base that on. But if that's the way you feel, pop in videos from the Bo years and relish the good ol' days that will never, ever return. The next time we win a championship, it wont be because of our 3 yards and a cloud of dust philosophy. It'll be a zone read option pitch from the one yard line that will surely make your blood boil.

Gravatar There are 3 prevailing lines of thought:

1. TP is overrated.
2. TP is a headcase asshole.
3. TP is a run-first QB who will sentence us to a lifetime of run-first QB's, and we'll never throw again, ever.

That are all thinly diguised ways of saying "I'm talking myself into thinking TP sucks because I'll be upset if he doesn't come to Michigan".

Gravatar Don't know if anyone else saw this, but it seems the mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick' was having extra-marital affairs.

Antonio Bass is HURT?

Gravatar chitown,

Don't forget 4. We're better off with BJ Daniels or Justin Feagin anyways.

Gravatar One **** who can't throw and a ** who only South Florida wants must be better than the guy LSU, OSU, Oregon, and PSU are going for!

Gravatar @formerlyanon

No, I'm thinking more along the lines of Herschel Walker, if you want an example of a Sex Mustache on an African American (male). You just know Herschel was closing the deal...

Gravatar Agreed, Huss.

Oh! oh! AND - "Steven Threet is better than TP and Ryan Mallett anyway!"

Gravatar Dex - you should revise that to "a ** star that S. Florida want TO PLAY CORNERBACK".

Gravatar cfaller - if you're looking for the african-american sex-stache, wouldn't it just be Shaft?

Gravatar TP ain't coming here. O$U will get him. No conte$t, we ju$t can't offer what they will in Columbu$.

Gravatar To be fair and balanced, Pat White was a ** who LSU wanted to play WR or some shit. But to be more fair, Pat White can't really throw either.

Gravatar 5. We're in good hands with David Cone. He wants to play for Michigan. Terrell Pryor? Fuck that guy. He sucks and I know this because I watch rivals highlight tapes, ignore all of his inherent goodness, and claim that what I'm looking at is an overrated dud that scouting services and coaching staffs across the country are totally wrong about.

Gravatar Where the hell have I been? I had him pencilled in as the starting QB, and subsequently started a He-is-man campaign on his behalf. No, this is not right. It cant be. Bass and RoJo were going to light the world on fire. Add to that our awesome LS, Morales......DYNASTY!!!!!!1!!UNO!!

Gravatar @chitown

And for the MDan/Heathen NFL Gods special:

- RichRod shouldn't be allowed to recruit QBs who can run until he "proves" his offense can actually throw the ball with Threet.

Gravatar @dex

Well, I'm higher on Feagin and Daniels than you are, apparently. And I don't think we're doomed if we have to work with either one of those (or Threet, for that matter). But yeah:

TP >>>>> Feagin and Daniels

Gravatar While I'm being crotchety:

-Typing O$U is gay. It's dumb. Stop.
-Typing fOSU is also gay. And dumb. Stop that too.

Gravatar @chitown

Shaft is another good example. The problem with the African American Sex Mustache is that there's no irony there- those guys actually are getting regular sex. The Honky Sex Mustache? Not. So. Much.

Gravatar Daniels could turn out to be a god. Regardless, I'd like to see him on the roster. However, (and I know you're not saying this, cfaller) anyone who voices a preference for Daniels over Pryor needs a clinical diagnosis.

Gravatar Now I'm uncontrollably giggling over the word HonkyStache. I don't know why...

Gravatar sorry if already posted, cool article on our man Tom:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com...ex.html? eref=T1

It as great to see Jimmy Harbaugh being interviewed during a segment of NFL's Greatest Games the other night.

I think if he stays healthy, Chad Henne will have a solid NFL career.

It is true, nowadays college is little more than a stepping stone to the NFL and no doubt Mallett to Michigan was partly due to the success of Jim, Tom, Elvis and Brian.

That being said, I would trade wins over fOSU for success of our QBs in the NFL. I admit, I am selfish.

But why does it have to be one or the other in RRs system? I think we can have both.

Gravatar So let me get this straight - TP has had over a year of official visits, and plenty of time to think about this decision, and we are not allowed to be critical of him wanting to wait longer to make a decision.

He has had plenty of time to take 5 officials and he has taken two.

I know this is a huge decision for him, but come on already. Shit or get of the pot.

Gravatar Oregon will have the Nike militia out in full force for his visit. expect them to becom the front runner.

Gravatar HonkyStache = Getting Laid

I live in Middle Georgia, and thats a fact.

Gravatar I find it clever.....

Gravatar "That being said, I would trade wins over fOSU for success of our QBs in the NFL. I admit, I am selfish."

Oh.My.God. You are everything that could possibly be wrong with a Michigan fan.

Gravatar If TP was playing football and basketball, he hasn't had too many open weekends since early August.

Gravatar And how is that even selfish? The success of our players in the NFL has nothing to do with the University any more. Saying you want to beat OSU for 25 straight years is selfish. Saying you want Chad Henne to be an All-Pro just means you have an unhealthy love for the guy.

Gravatar "-Typing fOSU is also gay. And dumb. Stop that too."

I dont know Chitown.

down here at Texas, it is "Fuck Oklahoma" and "Fucking Oklahoma", and never "Oklahoma"

I'm all for revising the lexicon when the phrasology is useful.

Language is a virus, you know.

Gravatar @chris

I don't judge people for taking a long time to decide what college they want to attend. I just don't.

It's his decision, not yours. Stop judging.

Gravatar can someone answer me why retards who type all the exclamation points also type ONE too? its so fucking stupid

Gravatar "If TP was playing football and basketball, he hasn't had too many open weekends since early August."

Bullshit. Only mgoblog reader "chris" knows about the sort of time Terrell Pryor has, and HE says TP should have made his decision by now. Shit or get off the pot, he says! We've waited for you long enough! Feed our selfish, holier-than-thou egos! YOU OWE US, TP!

Gravatar Whats the purpose of bringing great QBs to michigan if they lose to OSU but have NFL success? Thats stupid. Chad Henne had a great career, and hopefully a decent NFL career, but he was 0-4 in the big game

Gravatar I don't think I've ever called fucking OU anything other than fucking OU or fucking oklahoma when saying it out loud. Typing slightly different.

Gravatar I love the NFL. With all my heart and soul. But seriously, I don't give a shit how our guys do there.

And don't get me wrong, I like Feagin and Daniels, but it's lunacy to parrot this thinking Pryor is somehow inferior to them because he hasn't quite made up his mind.

Gravatar The staulbach article on espn is rather bland. I wish these articles would just end.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/co...mark& id=3220002

Gravatar @chris, other TP haters

I don't know if you're aware, but there are some great deals at Overstock.com, and I think Orbitz has some good travel packages.

Also, I think Antonio Bass got hurt.

Gravatar And also, Pryor should have known in September that Lloyd was leaving and we would hire Rich Rodriguez. The fact that we just hired RR 1.5 months ago, and only started really recruiting him then, should play NO PART in his decision making.

Gravatar could it be that pryor is waiting to see where the other top qb recruits sign?

is osu signing anone else?

is he waiting to see if Michigna signs another qb?

Gravatar Oh but dex, RR was recruiting him at WVU too! He has all that time to seal the deal at that redneck cow college... TP should be dying to get in!

Gravatar "And how is that even selfish? "

It is selfish b/c in a way I am saying I would like them to have tremendous success in college and then to hell with them once they graduate.

I really dont feel that way, but if I had to choose, I would choose wins over Ohio State.

That is why I dont really care if our new coach's system is one the cranks out NFL QBs--I want it to be one that beats Ohio State at least half of the time.

Gravatar Tubes nailed it. If you are more concerned with the performance of Michigan alums in the NFL than you are concerned with their performance at Michigan (ie, wins over OSU), you likely are not, actually, a Michigan fan.

Gravatar Irrelevant Gsimms...his personal feelings and preferences are not important.

Gravatar So what happened to this comment thread being quickly being covered up?

Gravatar Willie-

I think this

That being said, I would trade wins over fOSU for success of our QBs in the NFL. I admit, I am selfish.

has been misread as you'd rather see Good NFL QBs over OSU wins.

Gravatar THE ONLY THING THAT IS RELEVANT IS NOT HIS FUTURE HAPPINESS OR HIS CAREER, BUT THAT HE MAKE HIS DECISION QUICKLY, SO I CAN TALK ABOUT IT ON MGOBLOG.COM THAT MUCH FASTER.

Gravatar If I'm reading your subsequent posts right, that is.

Gravatar @dex

Good point that we too often forget- Pryor wasn't even considering Michigan until RichRod was hired. That was only at Christmas.

But the haters don't let facts get in the way of a good emotional narrative- shit or get off the pot yada yada yada!

Gravatar When you have super-smart things to say, you can use italics AND bold. And caps.

Gravatar I anxiously await the day when MGoBoard returns and I can use 4chan image memes instead of language.

Gravatar formerlyanon,

It's not been covered up, it's just been updated with more info about Floyd. Refresh...

Gravatar Yea, I saw, that's why I asked. I was hoping for a thread jack style change in comments topic.

Gravatar I've never used image memes. Can I select an emoticon to accurately depict my favorite facial feature that shall go unnamed?

Gravatar thanks Dex,

you are right. now I see the error of my confusing text.

Language is an imperfect virus.

Thanks Huss for jumping down my throat.

Gravatar I am surprised by Brian's dismissal of Floyd as a potentially significant contributor. He would be a stud recruit at WV, a stand-out amid the raw material that RR has routinely transformed into top ten teams. Now either RR knows how to find diamonds in the rough or he knows how to make stones in the rough into diamonds. Either way, the dismissive calculus Brian employs no longer holds. And besides, any kid who says "Screw you, SEC," is automatically one of my favorites.

Gravatar formerlyanon

No, no change in topic. We must continue the flame war against the TP-hating turds. Stand and fight, man.

Gravatar Rodriguez is pursuing an inordinate number of WR/DB/RB tweener.

While this is undeniably true, I believe we started recruiting this WR/DB/RB before RR arrived on the scene. JUST FOR CLARIFICATION.

Gravatar There are 3 prevailing lines of thought:

1. TP is overrated.
2. TP is a headcase asshole.
3. TP is a run-first QB who will sentence us to a lifetime of run-first QB's, and we'll never throw again, ever.

*Nods head in agreement*

Oh yeah, I saw Bass walking down the street and I noticed that he limps exactly half of the time. This leaves a 50% probability of return. Interesting.

Gravatar Dex - run!

Gravatar Willie,

I'm sorry. I've seen a few folks rambling on about how much they care about Michigan QBs success in the NFL around here, and I'm antsy to refute any such argument. My bad brother. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Gravatar @cfaller,

If this board has taught me anything, its what IIRC stands for and that people dismissing the #1 recruit in the land because he can't make up his mind on how his future will go are idiots. I've started to treat them as trolls. I only respond to new creative ways of trolling. As the earlier posts says, there's really only 3 or 4 arguments from their side that mean absolutely nothing.

Gravatar MDan - I see your point, but "diamonds in the rough" may not get much of an opportunity to play when surrounded by thoroughbreds who are also under the developmental wing of Rich Rod. What I'm saying, is, a 3-star recruit at WVU, surrounded by 2-stars and nobodies, will have a greater chance to contribute and develop into a stud then the same guy surrounded by Stonum, Clemons, and Hemingway - who are being devloped by the same staff.

Gravatar I have to anyway, Hannah Montana is on soon.

Gravatar Off we go, again.

Gravatar @Willie Heston

I started a war with MDan a few days ago, and I think there's still some bad blood in the air about the "must we care about NFL QBs?" debate. Sorry if you got caught in the crossfire.

Gravatar You guys are absurd if you think TP is not milking this thing. Sure UM was added late, but he's been thinking about this for 3 years. Couldn't he have removed Oregon sometime in the last 2 years? And, how does calling Rivals after RRod tells him he's going to UM help his decision-making process? Isn't that how we all found out? i absolutely hope he comes (t)here, i just don't think he needs to be working the press so much. it's pretty easy to see how people are questioning his motives. to be honest, i'd like to know that a player is actually concerned more with the decision than alerting the media about said decision.

Gravatar No idea if Floyd will be good, but if I have to hear about "speed" 1 more time I will cry. The Lions have been drafting speed for 5 years and we see where that has got them. Obviously you need a required baseline of speed, but it's about recognition, quickness and toughness. There are but a handful of plays a game a player is running unchecked in a straightline. Find football players. The 40 is the most useless thing in football.

Gravatar Wow - harshed out.

1) Not a TP hater, don't care where he goes.

2) He visited Michigan, even though they weren't on the radar until Mid Dec.

3) Oregon was on the radar a long time ago.

4) He has been chased by these guys for 4 freakin' years.

5) He can take all the time he wants, but this is a show, and all about attention. Give me a freakin' break already.

6) If I was a college coach I wouldn't wait around on TP. You're not ready to go, well the offer is there but i'm going to get this other guy now.

7) The recruiting system sucks.

Gravatar i know this was at the beginning of the chain, but re: floyd's 4.73 40 - he was injured when he ran it and most scouts agree he is a true 4.5 guy.

Gravatar Who is waiting around on TP? Aren't Daniels and Feagin coming in this weekend? So......what's the point? That he's possibly cocky? No shit.

Gravatar the whole "reasons that we dont want tp talk" is, admittedly, getting more than a little annoying. however, no more annoying that chitown's incessant commentary re: anyone who disagrees with his opinion on the issue. i mean, we get it. you've stated your point. then stated it again. then stated it again. then like 100 X more than that. you arent stalin; people dotn HAVE to agree with you. yeah, you've won me over and i suppose i agree with you, buuuuuut its ok that other people think he's a bad fit for the program.

Gravatar I was about to say - a 4.7 40 from a WR/DB is nightmarishy awful.

Gravatar @chitownblue07

I absolutely agree.

Gravatar If I was a college coach, I'd show up at Pryors house in a fleet of "rented" Vettes and Escalades accompanied by 30 virgins of various hair color and a bag with a $ on it.

My team would beat chris's team 45-3 every year.

Gravatar virgins are over rated. they dont know what they're doing and i personally dont find akwardness stimulating.

Gravatar "That are all thinly diguised ways of saying 'I'm talking myself into thinking TP sucks because I'll be upset if he doesn't come to Michigan'"

I agree on what you said here, that people are talking themselves into believing that TP is not that good.

Gravatar @ dex,

My team might lose, but they would lose with honor. In the end my honor is more important than your win.

Michigan and everyone else should remember that.

How does the Michigan fight song go again?

Unfortunatly, our society isn't heading in that direction.

Gravatar ....

Gravatar Quarterback success in the NFL has helped Michigan in the past with recruiting.

Beating OSU and possibly playing in a NT may arguably help more.

Cant blame TP if he sees a higher likelihood of getting to the NT via OSU because they dont have as many blaring needs on offense (especially the line) as we do. Seriously, maybe kids these days dont even care that much about winning a NT--just getting there or winning a Heisman will bump up their first day draft potential significantly.

It may be unrealistic to expect the loyalty we have enjoyed in the past.

And so we are back to the college as a stepping stone argument. I think most people these days think about college in "return on investment" terms and choose career paths carefully. Athletes are no different.

Gravatar So, chris, you were happy with this season right? Because we had honor?

Gravatar Beilein said a min ago on FSN, "we're still learning to make shots."

Haha, what is this, a bunch of 4th graders?

Gravatar look, this isnt medievel japan. honor is for pussies.

Gravatar @Chris

You see how you were able to do that without passing a personal judgment on the kid? Good job.

WRT to the "show" aspect of the TP Sweepstakes, two things:

1. Welcome to big time college football recruiting. Not just TP, but kids in the Top 20/50/100 make shows out of their signings. Every f'ing year. TP is no better and no worse than any of them.

2. If you don't like what's on TV, then change the channel. I don't know how many articles Brian has posted on Pryor, but I've read none of them, mainly because they don't matter. TP will make his decision on NSD or perhaps later, and that's all that matters at this point. Disconnect from the feed if you're getting tired of waiting, and are getting annoyed with Pryor saying the same damn thing over and over and over.

Gravatar big gay heart - I seem to fight with you alot even though I like about 95% of what you say.

Regardless, I'm probably incessant on the topic because I think it's horseshit that people can be SO judgemental and SO convinced of how a person is based on a handful of press clippings and message-board innuendo.

I was, for my town and high school, a high-profile athelete. I got to deal, on a few occasions, with my local paper, and local populace making assumptions on my character based on single decisions I made when I was a stupid-ass teenager.

It's bullshit, and I just hope that people who can so casually make statements with such commitment that TP is scumbag have been so flawless in their own lives.

Gravatar @dex,

Did Michigan Quit?

Did they represent themselves properly in the end?

After all the bowl games, who was the most talked about in a positive way?

Would I have liked to see them at 13-0 - yes. But fate didn't have it that way.

Gravatar And dex,

You were wrong about us all dying on tuesday, too. I mean, what the hell, man?!!!

Gravatar What's Antonio Bass's status for next season?

Gravatar @big gay heart

I would say that flawed/illogical/dishonest arguments, and the people that make them, deserve no mercy. If it's bullshit, then chitown can say that as many times as he wants. And I think at this point we can all agree that anyone making a personal judgment on TP is mostly full of shit and deserves no mercy.

So I guess I disagree.

Gravatar -Typing O$U is gay. It's dumb. Stop.
-Typing fOSU is also gay. And dumb. Stop that too.

Gravatar My goodness, I went into a meeting just before noon, and look what happened in the meantime.

I remember a certain basketball superrecruit who kept changing his commitment status and ended up transferring. We all decided, fuck that! That kid is crazy anyway!

Now, we have a certain football superrecruit who is looking at two very high-profile football programs and has to make up his mind. He's doing his research, keeping very much to himself, and enjoying some of the media hype that he has not created by doing anything other than kicking ass on the football field. Somehow, we've all decided--once again--fuck that! That kid is crazy anyway!

Listen, you don't know TP. You don't know if he's arrogant. You don't know if he thinks he's bigger than the program. Just because you might have to wait longer to find out what he's going to do doesn't mean he sucks. We know he's good at football, and all indicators suggest he's interested in being good at football at Michigan. Let's allow the kid some slack.

Gravatar Can someone explain to me how the RRod thing leaked, before I argue something that isn't true. Did TP not call Rivals and break the story? Was that an important part of his decision-making process? if i'm wrong on this, flame away.

Gravatar Well then, chi, Michigan will be so unfathomably good that Floyd will simply be content to collect 4 rings from the bench, because there is not that far to climb above WV's last three years. If RR nets top ten finishes with two stars and a sprinkling of threes, he will never lose with four stars and a sprinkling of fives.

I think what is more likely is that the ratings system is flawed (as we all admit) and that RR does have an eye for talent. In this event, a Floyd could be every bit as attractive as a Stonum or a Cissoko - and on occassion, if RR possesses the mythical magic eye (augmented by the not-so-mythical Barwis magic fist), a Floyd will turn out to be a Pat White type of three star. For that reason alone, I am willing to be excited about any mystery guys RR pulls in...until proven otherwise.

Gravatar chitown:

no man, i agree with you. i've, admittedly, made some boneheaded posts on here re: pryor.

but you've gotta recognize two things:

1. chasing this kid is, in some ways, a fgame of brinksmanship. we put all our eggs in one basket, we run a huge risk. you're right: people are rationalizing a potential (likely) failure. but its human to knock what you probably wont have ( ie people who date small breasted women and say things along the lines of "who cares about tits?")

2. he does like the media circus and he has opened himself up to some scrutiny, especially with the rivals phone call and the on-line diary.

BUUUUT

with all that being said, this pre-emptive sour grapes game is getting waaaaaay out of control. he's a kid. he's making decisions as best as he sees fit. will they pan out? who knows. do i think michigan is a good fit for him? yes. but so what. not my life. plus, theres still a big chance he's a wolverine. none of us will be bitching if that is the case.

Gravatar Yes, M was "Pylon QB U" for the last 20+ years.
But who's to say M can't be "Dual Threat QB U" under RR?

Imagine a school whose previous QBs were:

Randall Cunningham
Steve Young
Donovan McNabb
Duante Culpepper
Jake Plummer
Michael Vick
Vince Young
Troy Smith

That's a list any school would be proud of. It's a new era people. We still can still QB U, just different.

Gravatar M-flightsci - I just reported you to the Masons.

Gravatar cfaller96:

im not saying they deserve "mercy," per say. i'm just saying that if you confront every idiot on the planet, well, you'll ALWAYS be confronting idiots. and then they've won. like the terrorists.

Gravatar steve young is a giant asshole. i remember reading a story where he would go back to byu and "hunt" for virgin brides. like when he was 30.

Gravatar I'm sorry guys, but big gay heart mentioned boobs and my brain immediately froze...what were we talking about?

Gravatar then he mentioned virgin brides. And Dex was talking about Hannah Montana.....

Head spinning.

Gravatar I love when morality and principles are brought into a thread. It really spices things up, especially with dex. If the people around here haven't noticed he is a cold-hearted anti-christ of a man who would win at all costs, even if it meant giving up his first born. Which I totally respect, but please, don't try to argue with him and say "no, you're morally corrupt and this is what UM stands for" I feel safe in saying that half of what dex says is just to F&*% with people and stir the pot.

Gravatar well, you'll ALWAYS be confronting idiots. and then they've won. like the terrorists.

But, uh, we have to fight the evil-doers here, so we don't fight them in real life? I understand that when I fall back on the rhetorical skills of Bush, I've lost the argument.

Gravatar sorry guys. ima gonna work on staying on the straight and narrow. and by straight and narrow i mean no boobs/virgin bride talk. too distracting, apparently.

one last note: im not into girls that cant drive cars.

Gravatar @big gay heart

Gotcha. But you'll notice that those guys seem to go away after a good flaming. I actually think chitown's and others' mocking does have an effect. They help clear the bullshit so we can get back to talking about Antonio Bass' prospects for running RichRod's system (I think he got hurt or something, but we'll just have to wait and see).

Gravatar bgh,
What do you expect, he's a blood relative of the pioneering bigamist, Brigham Young.
Also, I was only referring to on-field performance, obviously. All of those guys were dual threat QBs in college even if they aren't anymore.
But hopefully I made my point.

Gravatar M-flightsci - I just reported you to the Masons.
chitownblue 00 | 01.31.08 - 1:15 pm | #

umm
I just got a text message from 000-000-0000 reading "lol U R DOOMED"

Gravatar Anonymous - I think his larger point is that people who bring up things like our institutions morality in a discussion about recruiting, which is about the scummiest thing ever, need to take the blinders off.

Gravatar I just got a text message from 000-000-0000 reading "lol U R DOOMED"

At least they're laughing about it - you'll get offed by some jolly people.

Gravatar chitown,

That was me, I forgot to enter my name.

I thought UM was the beacon of morality in all things. Are they not?

Seriously, I do think that UM is better than most, but I think most are really bad. So...

Gravatar I also like how dex goes to an extreme sometimes and people just lose it thinking they need to save this man before satan gets his soul

Gravatar i just got a text message from lance bass that said: i wanted to the first homosexual in space but i guess i'll have to settle for being the first homosexual to almost go into space before pussing out.

Gravatar Is Lance related to Antonio? Think Lance has eligibility?

Gravatar i apologize for that. im trying to quit drinking coffee and smoking at the same time.

Gravatar FYI, Brian just wrote:

" 'Look, the kid obviously loves the limelight, but there’s a growing chorus of Buckeye and Wolverine fans that are wondering if maybe their schools may be better off without Pryor. What’s your take?'

My take is that the only reason this Wolverine fan chorus exists is because 1) it's looked like we aren't going to get Pryor and 2) some of the people who post on message boards are astoundingly dumb."

Gravatar http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com...ml? eref=mostpop

Why shouldn't Mallett have to sit out a year just like every other transfer minus Matt "Undefeated" Guiterrez? Are NCAA rules different in the SEC?

Also, who thinks Mallett weighs in next year at 275 lbs of pure flab?

Gravatar @ chitown

i don't understand why this has anything to do with him not coming here. can't he be a douchebag if he comes here too? seriously, i know you were an all pro coxswain in high school, so you're the expert on recruiting, but isn't it possible to go through the recruiting process without making it a circus? don't you flame clausen every day for doing the same thing?

why is it so wrong to be questioning a kid that looks like a media whore? i don't care if this kid was leaning heavily towards M, i would still be looking at his character.

Gravatar I really don't understand people saying winning in college should be top priority and of the highest concern for Michigan fans.

It's a nice bonus, but the University of Michigan is above all else an institution of learning, whether its in law, or medicine, or teaching, or even athletics. It's entirely more selfish to want UofM to win 9000 NC's but stop cranking out top-notch NFL prospects.

...but having said all that I still really want to see OSU burned in the righteous flames of the FURY OF BARWIS

Gravatar @BBB

"FURY OF BARWIS" - is there any way for that to be the name of the next Bond movie?

Gravatar No, Bond 22 is going to star Herr Mendel the jolly Swiss banker, and will be called, "Teeth"

Gravatar THIS JUST IN:

Antonio Bass was seen taking snaps at practice today. Wait... practice hasn't started yet? Damn.

Gravatar Woops. Wrong thread.
