Gravatar I think you should seriously consider revoking voting privileges for certain voters next season. It's one thing for there to be disagreement between ballots, but it's another entirely, for example, for Boi from Troy to randomly rank teams and show ridiculous homer bias. Has this guy yet to produce a ballot that isn't laughable? I follow the Blogpoll weekly, out of interest in the statistical analysis you provide, and every week this guy is near the top in bias (CKA award) and swing.

I don't mind disagreement in rankings - that's to be expected. Hell, even mistakenly moving teams up after mistaking losses for wins is tolerable. However, posting an indefensible ballot week-in and week-out seems pretty ridiculous.

Gravatar you used 'lo' twice in this post

bravo brian

Gravatar Not even the mythical powers of the CK Award can overcome Sparty being Sparty.

Gravatar The two times the CK has failed this year were when it had to work with Notre Dame and MSU... go figure.

Gravatar if anybody gets kicked out it should either be "my opinion on sports" which seems to land in whack-ballot watch every week- or shanoff, just on principle. didn't he roll with rutgers at #2 once? i'm sure kansas will be #1 if they win next week, as his best. team. ever. logic results in a neck snapping reversal of his opinions, kind of like dumping NW for UF because his wife told him to.

/that was more bitter than i intended.

Gravatar Brian - just out of curiosity, how long does it typically take take to compile all the ballots and figure out all the "award" winners?

Gravatar crap crap crap crap crap crap...

stupid CK Award...I was going to blame our QB for losing to USC, but now I can only blame myself.

as for missouri, apparently i'm the only one who isn't sold. my bad. i'll try and watch them play this weekend.

Gravatar I didn't necessarily mean to single out Boi from Troy as the sole offender, but he's the one I've noticed most often. The point is, there are clearly a lot of shameless homers and/or people using dartboards to rank the teams. Ranking the teams isn't an easy task, but I can't help but think that there are a lot of ridiculous ballots that skew the results a bit.

Then again, the poll is mostly for fun and has no real consequences, so I guess I should just chill out.

Gravatar So, should I hang my head in shame for being co-winner of Mr. Stubborn or look around for high fives for nearly capturing Mr. Numb Existence? I don't know.

I have a theory that DEP is cruising the different ballots to come up with a consensus for his own ballot when he puts it together. Nobody can continuously win Mr. NE in a landslide week in and week out without like that without cheating somehow.

And to the pollsters that refuse to recognize Penn State's quality wins over Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue...you suck.

Gravatar why is iowa a quality win?

Gravatar I would bet its all automated by now but the comments.

Gravatar Mike: Iowa? Seriously? That ain't no quality win. (Yes, I'm fully aware my team *didn't* beat them. Still not a good win.)

carc: It's gotta be automated by now aside from comments, as rlc said. If it isn't, I could probably whip up a program to do it. He would have gone completely barking mad by now doing it by hand.

Gravatar having problems, the blogpoll box is showing up as the advertisement between brian @aol and mgolicious. refreshing the page doesnt work. any ideas?

Gravatar A pox on you, Ragnarok.

Gravatar My wife will thank you for validating her oft-stated opinion of me.

On the Alabama thing, put it this way: I swapped Alabama and Georgia at the last minute. Make more sense now?

Gravatar Re: Iowa

They will most likely win their last two games against Minnesota and Western Michigan making them 7-5 and send them to a bowl. They beat Illinois who was briefly ranked this year. Not to mention Penn State had something like a five game losing streak going against the Hawkeyes. So yeah, I consider Iowa a quality win. I'm sure Iowa State does too.

I could throw Indiana in there as a quality win too. They are sitting at 6-4 and probably going to a bowl game as well.

The "you suck" comment was tongue in cheek, guys. I'm not saying Penn State is a top 10 team, but I do think they're a top 25 team. They came five points away from beating Michigan. They should have beaten Illinois if not for the Morelli meltdown. The Ohio State game is the only game where they really got beat up. But how much should a team be punished for losing to #1?

Gravatar Not sure you want to throw your lot in with Iowa State. Just saying.

Gravatar >>> I'm sure Iowa State does too.

That's because when you're Iowa State, you take what you can get.

Indiana is more believable than Iowa as a quality win, IMO. As for Illinois ... yes, you lost because Morelli stopped playing like [insert competent QB here] and started playing like Morelli. That's not a mitigating circumstance.

Gravatar And I'm not saying PSU isn't good. A fringe top 25 team, perhaps. I could see them in the bottom 3 of the poll or just out. (I don't see why they're ahead of Illinois, though - same record, head-to-head goes the other way. Only reason I can think of is that UI hasn't played OSU yet and is therefore going to lose another game, but even that seems iffy to me because PSU's noncon schedule is Hawaii-level awful and UI's noncon loss was a close neutral-site game against Missouri.)

Gravatar A little late to the party here. but when you can't score A SINGLE POINT in the second half against a team that you are totally dominating on defense you don't deserve to move up in the polls.

we should have won the damn game by 50-3!
