Fielding Yost would be proud of our point-a-minute offense so far

wait nevermind we only scored 7 in the first 10 minutes

1) Shazor was 'that' kind of Safety, wasn't he? he brought er'ythang 'sept da kitchen sank. /Cleveland from FG.

2) my little girl is 2 and she blocks fairly well. funny thing is about butler... i recall him being a lights-out blocker in 06 as a freshman. especially vs PSU in HV.

Gravatar 21% shooting, wow...

Gravatar the only highlight of the first half was musberger comparing zach gibson to kevin pittsnogle

Gravatar brian's next recurring series: picks columns. just kidding...

Gravatar ...Stone will be BIGTIME when its all said and done, imo.

Gravatar ...by the way,the article on Big Tex was funny stuff.

Gravatar 31-23. Hanging on.

BTW, I hate the buckeyes.

Gravatar or you end up at the Insight Bowl surrounded by confused bowl officials asking you if you know where Purdue is, where's Purdue, are you sure you guys aren't supposed to be Purdue?

That was f'n hilarious.

Gravatar I have the feeling watching the polygon men of the gametracker miss these shots is almost as entertaining as watching the real thing.

Gravatar i hope massey proves the critics wrong

Gravatar yeah dex,

excpet these guys "almost" make it...

the real guys arent even close...

Gravatar somebody make a basket. please?

Gravatar We might make it to 40 points.

Gravatar I can't wait until Ron Coleman is gone. Only 9 more minutes baby.

Gravatar espn should mute musberger periodically

Gravatar whoever is watching on gametracker should be grateful they aren't witnessing this in HD

Gravatar With how badly we've played, it really is amazing we're not down by 25+. Its only a 12 point game. If ANYONE could hit ANYTHING, we'd be right there. Doesn't help that Manny Harris decided the season ended yesterday.

Gravatar in hindsight, i wish i would have watched via gametracker... it's MUCH more ugly on TV. some of the possessions make it look like Wisc is playing a HS JV team.

taking in the shadenfreude from iowa is simply not that enjoyable.... i mean, it's iowa.

Gravatar Matt Millen.

Discuss.

Gravatar well ya gotta figure with our incoming recruiting classes we'll at least have solid fundamentals...lay-ups...bounce passes...high fives!

Gravatar and on a side note..when did anythony wright become our best player?

Gravatar Grady wide open layup!!!....and he passes it back out....

Gravatar I think Kevin Grady belongs on this list. At least Minor has shown some flashes of speed.

Gravatar I thought they couldn't shoot any worse than they did in the first half. They've got a good chance of doing exactly that -- FG% is just as bad and now they're missing free throws to boot.

Gravatar Wasup yall. Top of the afternoon to you.

I will be visiting campus to see Michigan's Dance Marathon this year, please entertain me and treat me like royalty.

Gravatar kevin grady doesn't belong on the list. last spring word was he was by far and away the best RB we had until he busted his knee. he's 100% now. i wouldn't shut the door on him just yet.

Gravatar Not only that, DanK, but Iowa fans seem to be among the classier fans in the Big 10 and among the few that don't hate Michigan with an undying passion, but I could be wrong. That's just how it seems.

Gravatar Nope I was wrong. We won't get to 40. Sorry.

Gravatar do you think we practice having all 5 guys on the perimeter? it really blows not having ANY inside presence.

Gravatar Yeah I wish we had a post guy. I wish we could shoot. I wish we could rebound. I wish our offense was...organized. I wish we could make free throws. I wish we played with intensity.

Gravatar not sure i agree 100% w/ that, Tim.... something about iowa irks me. never really came across any of their fans too much tho. maybe it was those B-to-B losses in 03 and 04.

Gravatar Iowa fans seem to be among the classier fans in the Big 10 and among the few that don't hate Michigan with an undying passion

Tim Wayman,

Don't people feel the same way about OSU?

Gravatar 34 points. A new record for futility. But hey, there's always next year!

Gravatar Kevin Grady is supposed to be pretty fast. I just remember how on his Rivals page someone was quoted as saying, "Yeah, he's that fast." Chris Wells is a powerback and is pretty damn fast (he is a damn strong running back).

How little sense does it make to move Grady over to FB and use him in the same way that the triple option uses the FB, or as RR used Owen Schmitt, considering RR's spread option offense is partly based on the triple option?

Gravatar What is up with the no coverage of last night?? Didn't they have the Festivus "feats of strength" with George last night?? How bout the 100 prospective Juniors we have been waiting on?? I'm used to hyper-obsessive "I was hiding behind a bush and I read his lips to say he liked Michigan so we're in good shape kinda semi stalker serious problem kinda posts and I've seen nothing.

Give me my T. Jamison has lost 20lbs ran a 4.47 and is looking for conservatively 35-50 sacks next year.

Gravatar Wow.......I can't believe I left my office to dine at home in front of my tv for the second half. That sucked. Especially around 5 minutes to go when Grady gave up an easy lay-up and passed to Harris so that he could miss one of many three-point shots.

Gravatar Wow, 20% FG. That's just terrible.

Gravatar You mean 02 and 03. I know what you mean. After the 03 loss I hated Iowa so much. There was something about that loss that irked me a bit.

But that was a few years ago and I have heard that their fans are pretty classy and haven't had any bad interactions with them.

Gravatar Hmm... me thinks that we're defining "classy fans" as fans who lose without being too pissed off and nasty about losing and who don't come back the next year still spitting mad and looking for revenge... in which case, the classiest (spelling?) fans are Northwestern fans....

Gravatar thank god basketball season is over..what a horrid game that was

Gravatar but there's always next year!

Gravatar I also want to find ut about junior day yesterday. Somehow positive comments from Shamari Benton and Zac Matthias just doesn't seem to satisfy my curiosity.

What did Dion Sims and James Jackson think? These are players that are actually worth getting, not that I'm saying Benton and Matthias blow...just that we don't know much about them yet.

Chris Freeman is supposed to drop by this weekend to check out the start of spring practice.

Gravatar I Think the 02 loss to the Hawkeyes was worse than the '03 - we just got beat down at home in '02, I believe it was homecoming too.

Gravatar "Mengele in a track jacket" LOL!

Gravatar I really think Brian is looking too much at WVU and thinking it's going to be the same system.

My bet is it will evolve into something closer to Meyer's spread option at Florida.

Gravatar There was a basketball game???

I only saw Badgers practicing.

I'll try to be patient--God help us!

Gravatar I was also hoping to hear more good news from junior day. Texas gets like 10 commitments on their junior day, it would've been nice to get one.

Gravatar The Fab Five would've beaten Wisconsin today.

Gravatar Pretty good writing for a Buckeye.

Terrelle Pryor: 5-Star, Dual-Threat Contradiction

Before I get started, I want to make a couple of things perfectly clear: (1) objectively speaking, I want Terrelle Pryor to play football for Ohio State. I want phenomenal talent to play for the Buckeyes and by all accounts he is such a talent. (2) I have no personal knowledge/opinion of Mr. Pryor as a person; I only know what I read (true or not).

With that out of the way, I think we should all agree on one thing – Pryor seems to be a walking, talking contradiction. In one breath, Pryor delays his college signing because he wants to take all of his visits and make the most thoughtful decision possible. In the next, he fails to schedule a single new visit over the next six weeks, yet visits Ohio State (again). Yeah, I know he has basketball to play, but he managed to make it to OSU’s campus, which, incidentally, is twice as far from his high school as State College.

In a recent article, Pryor states that basketball will not have an effect on his college decision and then allegedly schedules a visit to Memphis, a basketball school.

Now that I'm starting to get more realistic about this whole thing, I just think there's no way I could play both football and basketball. Just with school alone, I think there's no way I can do both. Plus, I'm going to want at least a little bit of time to myself.

That story is not completely substantiated in my mind but it is being reported by major players. If it is true, how do you make sense of it? And, I have to imagine that it counts as one of his official visits. (Bye, bye Oregon.)

Finally, he offers himself up as a controlled young man, wanting to fully control his destiny. After all, that is why he is talking these extra two visits, right? Then he goes out and gets in two fights in a matter of a few weeks? Where did the maturity go? Isn't he jeopardizing all he is working towards? (And, while I am on the topic, how long does he have to take these extra visits? Until April 1? Beyond? I have no idea.)

I know he is an 18-year old high school kid with a lot of pressure on him. I know he has coaches, teammates, friends, and family pulling him in every direction. Believe me, I get it. I am not saying he is a bad person. Far from it. I just call it like I see it. I am simply saying that his statements and actions make it impossible to read his character or intentions.

One last thing, I really hope he comes to Ohio State.

Interesting, everyone knows that Chad Henne is the best QB ever out of the state of Pennsylvania.

Gravatar MLAWyer,

Unfortunately, we are not Texas. 2 Commitments would be terrific. But then again, you just might get Shamari Benton and Zac Matthias...

Gravatar The WLA Death Squad is warming up their rifles.

Gravatar i expect everyone here to put 100% of their energy behind discussing hockey, baseball and softball from now on. trust me, it much less ballbustingly painful.

also re: iowa, yes it was 02 (32-8 iirc @ home) and 03 ( a tight one in IC where we somehow lost, not just with, but *to* a 6-8 248 lb QB).

re: tolerable fans. Minn fans are not a problem, iirc. unless it's hockey they're talking about. NW of course. Purdue. IU. maybe throw in Wisc, but they are a tweener. PSU is kind of a tweener too. they have classy fans, but are on the down swing recently wrt fan behavior. i can't help thinking back to the 90s when they thought they would dominate the B10 in very sport.

bad: OSU, MSU, Ill

OK: PSU, Minn, Wisc

good: NW, IU, Minn, iowa

Gravatar dex, they can do that all they want but that doesn't change a thing.

Gravatar I'd rather talk about Zetterberg than Kolarik.

Gravatar @BRCE

I thought the same thing. The "spreads" RR ran at Tulane, Clemson, and WVU were all similar, but not EXACTLY them same. I think he will learn to adapt to his personnel (he HAS to), plus he will also be able to attract atheletes that he just couldn't bring in at the other schools (i.e. stud wide receivers).

Gravatar Everyone talked so much about strength and conditioning the last two months, and the big junior day. Now, the junior day has happened, a display of the strength and conditioning has happened, and there is nothing on either one anywhere. What is up with that. It seems that the old reliable "insiders" need to be replaced with some new ones, who, well, actually have inside information.

Any takers?

Gravatar im hungover. entertain me.

Gravatar You can be pissed after a loss. Just don't treat the opposing team's fans like crap (ahem, Ohio St). I heard one story about a trip to Iowa where the fans were very hospitable and knowledgeable. But that is one story.

It's not so black and white though. There are some classy OSU fans out there who care about the quality of the rivalry and actually cheer for Michigan in all games but one. And sometimes fans overly complain about a controversial finish, and sometimes they have a legitimate beef. I won't go into detail with this one.

Gravatar spicy, you should have gotten drunk in the first place. it's bad for your health, and a complete waste of time.

Gravatar also, i heard Dion Sims was not at the Jr day yesterday.

Gravatar SHOULDNT HAVE i meant, haha.

Gravatar I read somewhere that Dion Sims has been visiting with RR this past week. Rumors from my friends up north says that he is also buddy-buddy with Dantonio and Baker.

Gravatar I started UM in 03-04, so I wasn't a fan back in 02, unfortunately. I fell in love with CFB as a freshman, but more so as a junior during the 7-5 season as I learned more. But it's weird because now I care about the past, even though it didn't really affect me then. It must be the force.

Gravatar Tim,

Are you in grad school now?

Gravatar Henne, come visit me and we can play catch with each other. Afterwards, we can fall asleep in each other's arms sipping kalua..

Gravatar I'll say it again:
Any high school football player who grows up in THIS state, and holds offers from Michigan and MSU, and chooses to go to State??? Well, let's just say that's like growing up in North Carolina, having an offer from Duke and NCST, and picking State...it just doesn't make sense. (And I HATE Duke BTW).

Extenuating circumstances aside, of course :)

Gravatar No, I am working. Yes, I procrastinate at work as you can tell, and it's a bad thing.

Maybe in a few years I'll do grad school though. I have a lot of pondering to do.

Gravatar can we start paying our players again?

Gravatar Keegan, sounds nice... handle jacking?

Any updates on recruits? Maybe I shuold take a bus out to the big house and scour the grounds.

Gravatar @ keegan
what's done is done, i guess. here's to hair of the dog as soon as humanly fucking possible...

Gravatar I actually know how to spell Kahlua. I am not an ass clown.

Gravatar ATL BLUE:

I still have a shirt from the fab five days...talented, high ranked, and well paid.

We should start an online fundraiser to attract some 5 star recruits

Gravatar What pisses me off is I just now walked into work after a shitty two hour drive up from Seattle. I have finals all of next week and all I want to do for the few hours I'm in work is check my email, post some comments and leave for the day. The first thing I see is some no-talent, peckerwood, cheese dick, making some random ass comments using my name. Fine if your debating something with me and you want to be an immature 5th grade girl and jack my name and say "I like men, I'm homo for Henne". Fine, at least I'm there to see it and everyone else knows that it's not me being a pissy little ingrate. But to do it while I'm not even on the board, while I just got done with the drive from hell and with finals week approaching is bush league. And yes, I fully expect this fat-chick fucking clown to know that those things are going on in my life. If your going to be a dick, you need to do your homework and I hold you to high expectations. Deal with it. So, for whoever is being a jack-mouth with a PC, stop!

Gravatar with all the new hanicap-accessible seating... whats stopping people from putting on a fake boot and sitting in those seats? honestly.... assuming it doesn't fill up (safe assumption based on what i hear about people always noticing empty seats in those areas). if there's no victim, is there a crime? how do you get those seats? are they ticketed any differently? i'm just thinking... there are 350 seats opening up. so, if there are seats available, w/ more room, in a better location AND if those tix are the same price, then why can't they fill them in w/ normies?

er, a friend of mine was asking.... /costanza

Gravatar Michigan Basketball is dead to me until we make the NCAA tournament.

Gravatar well said Keegan, but don't take it too personally. there are some stoners who can't help themselves but jack posts while waiting for their next batch of pot to magically appear.

I said it once and I'll say it again. When will September come...I need football. This dead period is annoying as hell. I don't care about the NCAA tourney. Even Miguel Cabrera can't bring the same excitment as Dann O'neil.

Gravatar Please tell me that I read the ESPN box score wrong. 34 points? My basketball skills never made it of middle school and I think I could score 34 points - alone. Just pop a 3 immediately upon passing half-court. I could have made 12/50 for 36 points.

Gravatar damn it read this:

Rivals.com scouts the nation
Talk about it in The Fort
Rivals.com will host three Five-Star Academy events this weekend, including two stops in the Midwest. All three events are expected to attract some of the top players in the country, including five-star defensive tackle William Campbell.

Campbell will headline Sunday's Five-Star Academy in East Lansing at Michigan State University. He'll be joined by many of the top players in Michigan and a few top players from Northwestern Ohio.

I don't know why the fact that it's being held at MSU pisses me off, but it does. Damn it, why can't it be at Ford Field or at Michigan. Who the hell wants to go to lansing and get greased up by dantonio?

Gravatar i think NW would have to have fans first for them to be deemed "classy." prissy may make more sense here.

in regards to iowa fans, i was at the '05 game in iowa where we won in overtime. i had my UM gear on and maybe heard 1 f* Michigan. even at the bars when they were all scotched up, they didn't even yell at us. and, i even hooked up w/ a girl while in a mike hart jersey. wisco fans (at least when i went to the game in '05) were pretty much hard to distinguish from fosu fans, i.e., wearing red, had shirts that said f* Michigan, cussed at us, etc. iu fans don't really have anything witty to say except for bring up references to app st. purdue, do they even show up for games or are they too busy hanging out in the engineering lab?

anyway, maisel had a column today that references barwis.

Gravatar I wish the water cooler at work was full of gin.

Gravatar time to take a nap

Gravatar WVU's Devine arrested on battery charge. LOL

Gravatar I actually wasn't pissed in that last comment. I just kind of got on a roll and I went with it. No offense to whoever is jacking my name. Actually I did mean to offend you. I guess the real insult is that you will have to use dictionary.com to look up half of those words.

Gravatar Devine battered someone? It must have been one of his children because he's too small to hurt an adult.

Gravatar ftr, my questions about the new seating stuff weren't completely rhetorical. some people will be losing their season tix, unless they reallocate such to avoid that. it just seems like there's going to be a serious seating crunch once the reno is complete, but the AD hasn't said too much about how they are dealing w/ these issues.

Gravatar @Cannibal6

great article... $1 million just for new equipment? wow... and the linemen want to take off their shirts! wow... should put fear (more so than usual) into the hearts of the rest of the B10... And so the Arms Race (ha!) continues in CFB!

Gravatar and, if any one cares, Lit'l Bro 30 and tOSU 30 at the half... starting up again soon...

Gravatar The ground shook when I scrolled down the article and came upon B----s's name. I can't spell it. My screen will explode in my face like bukkake.

Gravatar I think I can cheer for OSU in this one. MSU in basketball just pisses me off. The Bukkkeyes (how's that for protest against tOSU?) just don't annoy me as much in basketball. Hell, MSU fans are always annoying.

Gravatar Anybody here like gambling?

Gravatar I love gambling

Gravatar http://www.centsports.com/?opcode=15522

Free site, it's hella tight. Sorry if Im not supposed to advertise but I just thought I'd share it with people.

Gravatar LOL at Dex... I think that's a version of clicking on the "We Love Bloggers" banner thinking it is porn! grin

Gravatar wow, slow start to the half... it's 14:31 now in the half and just another four points each for Lit'l Bro and tOSU (34 tie now)... ugh... must be painful to watch...

Gravatar Hola bitches! guess who skipped work to get semi-shitty and watch our BBall team lose?

Gravatar These Big 10 Tournament officials seem very confused about when to call technical fouls.

Gravatar I must admit, I'm disappointed there is apparently nothing of note to write about yesterday's junior day.

Gravatar I do have to say that's some tremendous analysis by Brian today.

Gravatar Brian,

Can't wait to see the fullback position contribute again in Michigan football. With the triple option attack the position may gain some level of importance once again.
I do not believe RR/Magee will sanction running many option run plays with Threet under center however.

Michigan has always been blessed with great ones and I think Helmuth will contribute early. RR loves FB as long as they destroy opponents the same way Owen Schmitt did, or any of the other fullbacks from Michigan's Christmas past:

Rob Lytle
Russell Davis
Lawrence Reid
Stan Edwards (converted from TB)
Gerald White
Jarrod Bunch
Che Foster
Leroy Hoard (also TB)
Aaron Shea
BJ Askew (this is when the FB lost it's meaning and was considered "better as a receiver")

Gravatar Brian,

That USS Concussion looks curiously like pre-production art of the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars.

Also, let me just say that you do 6 year old girls around the nation a great disservice when you compare their football run blocking skills with Michigan TE Carson Butler, when the truth is that my 3 year old daughter can block better than Carson Butler.

That Mr. Barwis will likely devour Mr. Butler's soul after his next pathetic "swing, dive and miss" blocking attempt provides me with some measure of solace.

Gravatar anyone know what happened with UM's Pro Day?

Gravatar #6 Greg Mathews

He won't be returning punts / kickoffs..

Gravatar Eeeeee Barwis!
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/co...tory? id=3293269

"Total exhaustion," Trent said, recalling the first two weeks under Barwis. "There was a Tuesday. We do our speed and agility [work]. We weren't too focused and we had to run afterward. Not too much, three or four gassers across the field. We were just hurting. Mike was screaming, 'This is a warm-up! Y'all are hurting on this? Just wait.' We all just got this shock, like 'Uh-oh. If this is a warm-up, I can't imagine.'"

Gravatar Is it true that Barwis gave his exotic pets to Gittleson as a parting gift?

Gravatar I just read in the Det. Freep that Kevin Grady is not participating in spring practice due to a HAMSTRING INJURY!

Jeez, this guy cannot get right. I fear he's gonna be another Justin Fargas, or any number of other highly recruited backs that never made an impact at Michigan.

What a shame.

Gravatar Per the Mgoblue website, I noticed something interesting about the fullbacks:

Helmuth:
Career - 2918 rushing yards, 110 tackles
Senior - 1536 rushing yards, 36 tackles

Moundros:
Career - 3812 rushing yards, 163 tackles
Senior - 2113 rushing yards, 88 tackles
