Gravatar There are four games at noon on Sept 1. What does that mean? Which game takes precedence, Appalachian St at Mich, or Youngstown St at OSU? Given that I live in the east, and have Directv, which is carrying BTN games, is there a chance I'll be screwed and miss a Michigan game. That will not be a happy scenario.

Gravatar I assume that since I live in Chicago, the BTN will be showing the Northwestern v Northeastern game. So even if the BTN somehow gets on Comcast I still won't be able to watch the Michigan game.

Will satellite show all 4 of the games on different channels? How the hell is this BTN going to work?

Gravatar Directly from the Big Ten Network's site (to clarify things) Reply
Q: In the past, I was able watch Big Ten games produced by ESPN Regional via pay-per-view on ESPN GamePlan or ESPN Full Court. Will Big Ten Network-produced football and men's basketball games be available on ESPN GamePlan or ESPN Full Court?

A: Big Ten Network games will not be part of the GamePlan or Full Court packages, but the BTN is making all of the games it produces available to cable and satellite operators as part of their agreements to carry the Big Ten Network. Whenever the Big Ten Network is producing more than one game at a time, cable and satellite providers that have agreed to carry the Big Ten Network will be offered the chance to carry the additional games via "overflow" channels. For example, let's assume that at noon ET one Saturday the Big Ten Network is producing two games (Penn State vs. Illinois and Michigan vs. Northwestern). If the Penn State-Illinois game is airing on the Big Ten Network, your cable or satellite system will be given the rights to carry the Michigan-Northwestern game on an "overflow" channel. Overall, the Big Ten Network will be producing significantly more football and men's basketball games than have aired regionally in recent years, and these games will be made available to all cable and satellite systems as part of their contracts to carry the Big Ten Network.

ABC/ESPN Contract

Big Ten action has been featured on ABC since 1966 and on ESPN since 1979, the network's first year. Details of the new ABC/ESPN agreement include, but are not limited to:

* Up to 41 Big Ten football games will be televised - up to 17 on ABC and up to 25 on ESPN or ESPN2;
* All regional afternoon football games aired on ABC will be aired by ESPN/ESPN2 in outer-markets, making these games nationally available

So, in summary... No BTN games on GamePlan. No ABC regional games on GamePlan. ESPN and ESPN2, are, by definition, national networks. So, NO Michigan games will be on GamePlan this year, next year, or in the foreseeable future.

So the chances of Chicago picking up the Michigan game is pretty good b/c all the Alums there. Unfortunately here in the land of rednecks, white socks, and blue ribbon beer, (a.k.a ohio) the only care about the sucknuts.

Gravatar "Will satellite show all 4 of the games on different channels? How the hell is this BTN going to work?"

You're going to get whatever game has the most regional interest on BTN, and your TV provider has the option of putting broadcasts of the other games on overflow channels.

Gravatar Does anyone know if DirecTV will actually carry the overflow channels for concurrent BTN games? I am optimistic that they will (since they do for regional sport channels), but have yet to find a definative "yes" on this matter.

Gravatar I think I remember you liking Championship Manager, so when you mentioned Kampfer it reminded me of a similar game. They have a hockey version of Championship Manager called Eastside Hockey Manager. I haven't tried to play as a college in it, but I think you can. (you can play as almost any professional team you want from any league) They have Kampfer in the game on Michigan's team in the year he's supposed to be. He's actually pretty good too. So maybe if he stops turning it over he'll be the shits.

Gravatar If we lose yet another player to the king, I'm going to go Charlie "Follow Me! Follow me to freedom!" Steiner crazy on some hockey playing Californians.

Gravatar Sept 1: Appalachian State @ Michigan

game will be on the Big ten Network according to MGoBlue.com:
http://www.mgoblue.com/ document_...cument_id=24988

I assume that means a non-delayed broadcast.

Gravatar "You're going to get whatever game has the most regional interest on BTN, and your TV provider has the option of putting broadcasts of the other games on overflow channels."

Translation: You'll get whatever game appears on your television. And when you complain that you're missing a Michigan game, the BTN and your cable/satellite provider will each claim it's the other's fault.

Gravatar I actually have EHM, Brandon. I drafted Pacioretty but he didn't work out.

Gravatar hey, no post on the big Carty article re: stadium vote tomorrow? lots of bitching to come in the next few days. the crazy part:

Their (Pollock & the rest of the opposition -ed) motivations were sincere and the pressure they created helped ensure the expansion would at least look traditional and in keeping with buildings such as Yost Ice Arena and the Intramural Building.

soooo...would BM have put up luxury boxes with tar paper shanty exteriors? Al siding? wood panneling? shag carpeting? rec rooms? rumpus rooms?....w/o Pollock et al?

http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/...3490.xml& coll=2

and you can't blame RM for talking to Tenn...think of the southern speed he could recruit.

Gravatar Wow im gonna miss the season opener because Ohio State vs fucking Youngstown State will be on instead. Thank you BTN

Gravatar Any info on the '09 commit?

Gravatar William Campbell?

Gravatar a 6'4" 330 pound junior... that is a beast of a kid.

Gravatar They need to keep Maloney at any cost. He's the sole reason baseball is now relevant, and Michigan is now the place to go if you are a good player from the state. They are only going to get better if he stays.

Gravatar Maloney's staying! Woot!
Freep

Gravatar Are there any media sources that are covering UMs camp except scout/rivals?

Gravatar "...five-year agreement to stay at U-M" "...expected to become the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten"

Congrats to Martin for stepping into the breach and to Maloney for being a real Michigan Man.

Gravatar I believe the appropriate phrase woud be "step up the plate", but good work by the AD in any case.

Gravatar Let's not get too excited. He's still a coach, not a basketball coach or Urban Meyer, but he's still a coach, and that makes him a little seedier than your average dude.

Urban Meyer=Douchebag4Life

Gravatar Maloney is not seedy at all. Michigan is going to Omaha within the next 5 years. The talent they have coming and the types of players they recruit, along with the coaching style, will keep them near the top 25 indefinitely.

Gravatar All I know about William Campbell is that he's good enough to receive an offer from Michigan before his junior year in H.S. Good enough for me.

Gravatar easy on kampfer. he was young (youngest on the team) and did show a lot of promising skill that will be more solid/consistent as he gets more ice time and work with red in this year. i was actually more impressed with him than chris summers. also, more kampfer on the PP please... he's decent with the slappers.

Gravatar "Some things are more important than money, and Michigan is one of them."

Gravatar It's the next day now and I just read that he's staying here at Michigan
