Sopcast isn't looking good, something about how its harder to stream from direct tv than cable systems. Seriously thinking about buying tickets and taking my 18 month old daughter to her 3rd game at the big house. priorities bitches.
Channel 220 on DirecTV is locked and ready to roll. They have some moderately cheesy "Big Ten Tailgate" show on now. Glenn Mason isn't bad, though.
So barring some kind of miraculous last-minute cave-in by Charter Communications (in Georgia, no less) is my only option listening to the radio on the internet?

It seems like the last decade has been a Golden Era for watching UM (and college football in general) on TV.

Is there any remaining question why Direct TV is several hundred percent better than the cable guys? No wonder DTV is growing so much faster, they actually provide what the customers want. Course, it helps that they own 49% of BTN, but still.

Watched the replays of the App State touchdowns on ESPN just now. On one John Thompson was about 15 yards out of position. On another, our corners couldn't handle a simple receiver criss-cross. On another, the secondary held up but Armanti just ran right through our DL. In other words, every segment of our defense has problems. This is very bad.

Our complete inability to stop the spread offense is so stubbornly pathetic. Lloyd needs to get out of the OLD-school smashmouth "Big-10 Football" crap and change with the times. DeBORED's offense is one-note and predictable as always. I think all the coach's know Lloyd is done after this year and they just photocopied the "usual" Michigan gameplan for this season. M had to replace 4 of the top 47 NFL draft picks on defense, but it is not as if they are being replaced by crappy talent. The defense should be much better than it has been for this first half.
This one falls squarely on Ron English. It is as if they didn't even

during the entire off-season. They look so confused, this looks just like
a Jim Herrmann defense - actually it looks worse.
Brown looks like Mundy except maybe
even worse. No pass break ups. Very little pressure even when they blitz.
Let's summarize: since OSU figured out that the way to beat M was to spread them out, M has given up 42, 32, and now probably 40 plus. USC would've hit 40 if they didn't spend the entire first half dicking around and trying to run straight at M. I don't see other top programs having this much trouble against spread teams, and the talent in the secondary is not that bad - at least not on paper - not like we are putting MAC level guys out there.

And yes, the defense was poorly prepared... but you can't ignore the fact that we have huge talent holes in our secondary, and App State was exactly the kind of team to exploit those holes. I'm not sure who would (or should) step up if Lloyd were to quit/be fired.
The most likely thing, and I think the thing that would give a kick in the ass to the team, would be for Lloyd to announce tomorrow that this is his last year. He can say he's been on the fence, but this shows him it's time for the program to move on. Then the team plays well going forward (maybe?) because they want to send off Lloyd on a good note.
That also gives us a full season to start thinking about replacements.

Who does not know that they are in on a play unless they haven't been told by the coaches? I never missed a play I was assigned to. I always assumed I was in on a play unless told by a coach. Hard to believe this is possible on a former #5 team in the nation.
In my locker room everone's ass would be chewed raw.
Then I would apologize to the team and the staff for letting them down. "Players make the plays", but the coaches prepare them. The coaches put players in position to make plays by practice and coaching position discipline and fundamentals.
I would resign immediately. I would be of no use to the team after a beat down like that.
Fucking ridiculous, and now seems indicative of an entire offseason spent with little or no emphasis on being responsible for anything in any way. The only thing I can remember about this game is HART. He makes me really proud. Just wish others on the team were like him. He is an amazing player, person and any team would be very fortunate to have him.
I agree with one of the posters above, the coaching has been saved so many times by talent and were nearly in this game because of Hart, but it finally came to bite their ass.

I agree SJBlue. It's a shame that Hart's beautiful late TD run was in vain. He's everything a fan could want: an under-the-radar recruit who kicks ass from day one and becomes the team leader. That's what it's all about. This SAD game and its resulting changes (probably) will in no way tarnish the image of one of UM's all-time greats.
Atom: Don't forget Hart's extremely sound fundamentals. We almost take it for granted that he almost never fumbles.

Ugh. I wasn't able to watch the game, but I think I was lucky. Looks like my prediction of 9-3 wasn't ridiculously negative but hilariously, naively optimistic. Unless we make a radical improvement in every phase of the game, we might be looking at 5-7.
Sounds as though we learned nothing from the OSU and RB games. Also sounds as though the ASU coaches are able to look at game film and come up with a game plan.

Did he not properly prepare the linebackers to get to the quarterback on a blitz? Would a different coach have better prepared the secondary to lock the receiver down in 1 on 1 coverage?
The only thing that makes me sicker than the game today are these comments from michigan "fans."

The "solution" is an infusion of a new philosphy in the way Michigan approaches preparation for games. Whether it comes from Carr or elsewhere is irrelevant, but it's sorely needed in the Michigan program.
While I don't think Carr should be fired immediately, I do think that this should be his final season.

embarrasing, pathetic, but not shocking!!! Henne never looked off a receiver, middle of D exploited again, kicking game a disaster, mobile QB and no adjustments, tight game no mental toughness. Since 97 check this out we have lost 17 games by less than 6 points. We don't win big bowl games, we don't beat Ohio St., We don't win close games, We always lose a game a year in the last second Minn, Mich. St. App st etc.., and we always drop a game to a team with grossly inferior talent. Truth be known our recruiting classes seem to be getting more diluted no matter how celebrated. U can pin this game today on many people but the body of evidence points to inept, anemic, overrated, indefensible, unprepared coaching. No adjustments on the fly, Henne looks to his primary receiver every pass play and never looks off the safety. Terrible clock managment. Same old offense, Same old issues and no changes. It is flat out stubborn and it has finally begun to show signs of gutting the program. We were in trouble and didn't realize the full extent until today. We are so far behind Ohio St. USC, Florida, LSU, Texas, and others it is sad. I never thought my year would be over before Labor Day. EMBARRASSING. If Lloyd Carr loved Michigan he would step down. What do u mean, who would step in? Does it matter? We are going to lose prime recruits and we are senior heavy. This wasn't supposed to be the rebuilding year but next. The best college teams don't rebuild they reload. And by the way not even Lloyd could mess up the 97 team. It has been a great run and he has a great record. Step down, take a seat in the booth, and enjoy retirement. It is time for a young, aggressive, change in mentality. Our goal should not be winning the Big 10 and beating Ohio State, it should be winning national championships and the other two fit within that grand vision!! Can one actually find some semblance of hope in this. Fundamentally awful, bad tackling, inept play calling, uprepared for a close game. I think we broke out the three play playbook. Linebackers covering receivers in the spread. And when will we wake up and realize it is a speed game. SPEED GAME, SPEED GAME, SPEED GAME, SPEED GAME, SPEED GAME, SPEED GAME. Div. 1AA corners faster than our receivers. Wake up the stretch play 45 times and turning it over to an anemic D is not going to win many games. The game has passed this coaching staff by. That is why the best recruits are fleeing for the schools who are wide open. Even JoePa has seen the light in his eighties.
The fact is... the blame goes to many different people. Lloyd is the main culprit for not preparing this team for another spread offense. Lloyd is also ultimately responsible for the lack of Chad Henne's progrssion as a QB. Think back to when Chad was a freshman and of all the potential we thought he could have. Not checking off to your 2nd and 3rd receiver 70% of the time is unacceptable as a senior. But as much as I blame Carr, the player obviously did not take this game seriously. After they basically walked down the field for their first TD, they assumed the game was in the bag. The thing that bothers me more than anything is why they gave a 8-10 yard cushion on the App St. receivers on every play. Although our defense has problems, I have a hard time believing that playing a press coverage would not have been advantagous for us. Just a sad loss, but I think it's hard to believe that we still won't win 9 or 10 games this year. Our biggest challenge from here on out is next week (due to an athletic QB and our state of mind) and Ohio State (due to our ineptness against them in recent history). Still, win or lose, if you are a true Blue fan, you need to take the criticism over the rest of the year that will be well deserved. That is what being a fan of a team is all about... you need to stick with them through thick or thin even if the desired outcome is not what you wanted.
what is worse I am the biggest Michigan fan in the state of florida. How do I defend this against the SEC onslaught of attacks. At least I don't have to work on Tuesday. Judging by the text messages it is going to be a long year. I finally responded with glee and the though that the axe could fall and heads might roll by labor day. but no this is michigan, we will hire someone from the house and keep cleaning the same old messes.

Guys, I'm sick of hearing all this. As Michigan fans, we've been through this before. Disappointing Septembers is a norm. We did show a lot of things yesterday. Mike Hart is my favorite running back to ever put on a Michigan jersey...He carried us in that game, hurt and all. Crable maybe one of the better defensive players we've seen. Despite what you say, English did make adjustments in the second half, though this doesn't wholly forgive his seemingly failure to prep the boys for the first.
Point being: Let's pull it together and support our boys. We can all joke about who we're gonna hang ourselves and what not, but we need to support this team so we can salvage this season. I'm going to choose to be irrational - 11-1 from this point is still an excellent season. This team needs our support and though I can appreciate your feelings, we need to think positively and not give up on our boys. I for one will be cheering the loudest next week at my local bar for our boys, wearing #20.

I picked Michigan to go to the National Championship, but lose to LSU, this year. I am shocked at what happened yesterday, but I think it's a little too soon to believe the ship is sinking as a Michigan fan. Now there isn't any history of playing D1aa schools before in our schools history, but many times in the past few years Ohio State has come close to losing to bad teams. Marshall (who hasn't been a D1a school that long), San Diego State, Cincinnati. Or Michigan with the Ball State game last year? You knew eventually one of those near losses would turn into a real loss. I think the fact that it was to a D1aa school makes it more of a embarassing story and helps media hype, but honestly App State is probably better than quite a few teams the Buckeyes play this year. The talent is there...I don't put it past Michigan to end up 10-1 going into the game. And i'm sure lots of OSU fans will talk smack about this game, but if Michigan comes out and wins that game...then what? There's nothing wrong with going to the Rose Bowl. Maybe this game causes Michigan to start to play with intensity for all 60 minutes of every game. It's a shame that they didn't do that yesterday, but the players are just kids. As as much as you say to them, "Hey. App State is good." You know they are going to think, "Yeah yeah...whatever. We need to just show up and win."
Any loss hurts, some more than others. Spending your whole season winning every game, thinking championship, and then losing to you guys hurt a whole lot in the 90s. But you can't let it ruin a season. I still enjoyed the teams we had in the 90s. And I think you guys are still prime for a great season. I loved how last year we played each other as 1/2. I hope that happens again, and again in the future. I personally am hoping you guys are 10-1 going into that final game.
