We've been stuck with a 1970's s&c program, who's 'dowhatchawannado' philosophy alternately produces #1 draft choices or bumbling balls of lard. Even so, we've never had a losing season in that time, winning several big ten championships, one undefeated season, and a bunch of 2 and 3 loss season's because we recruit awesome talent.
No, a s&c coach won't change a florida international into a UofF. But finally entering the modern age of S&C with our athletes, and making EVERYONE get better, not just the one's who want to, has the potential to turn our perpetual 8-4, 9-3 seasons into 11-1, 12-0 seasons!!!

RoJo was a weird situation, but the only place I ever saw any confidence toward TP (after his UM official visit, at least) was here. Nobody else really thought we had a legitimate shot at him - except Jerome Bettis, apparently.

For the sake of accuracy - it's not a new DC. Just a new linebackers coach. Until Weis's program shows that it can develop players, rather than just recruit top guys and plug them into his OMG AWESOME offensive scheme that doesn't work, Notre Dame won't be a team to fear (on the large scale, at least. Michigan should probably still fear them).
