Hey guys. I got a quick question about this week's game in Mad-town. Even though I am from Wisconsin, I have never been to Camp Randall. I am going to the game this weekend, but I want to sit with other UM fans. Where is everyone seating? Where do the visitor fans sit, as in what sections should I look for when I am looking at tickets from scalpers? Thanks for the help guys. Hope to see everyone at the game.

Yeah, I saw that comment on Zumaya the other day in the ESPN comments when the story broke. Some random guy claiming he saw Zumaya in a neck brace on a stretcher out in the Imperial sand dunes outside of San Diego. I think the more likely culprit is Guitar Hero III.

McGuffie will be sweet. I can't imagine he won't get a shot to start his freshman year.
Mario isn't going anywhere.
Arrington will stick around
Matthews as well.
If Mallett matures we are set up nice for next year. I prefer to keep

Maize & Smeef,
Dedicated visitor tickets are the highest rows of the south endzone (the one that abuts the fieldhouse, and the southern end of the upper deck on the west side of the stadium.
I would avoid sections I thru P (basically, the north end zone) if you don't want to sit amongst the students (and I wouldn't, if I were rooting for the opposition).

I'm not saying I would definitely sit Hart, but I don't think you can possibly say that the chances of re-injury are "extremely low" when we saw the kid hobble off the field more than once against Sparty just a few days ago. His ankle is clearly still hurt. Even before he hobbled off, he was running very stiff (making his production even more impressive, btw).
I haven't totally made up my mind yet and I am open to counter-arguments, but if I had to make a call right now, I think I'd sit the kid. That's just me. If Hart re-sprains that ankle, we can't beat OSU, period. Without Hart, we might still beat a banged up Wisconsin team. And frankly, I can't say the difference between 10-2 and 9-3 has me all that lathered up. We're Michigan. We either win the Big 10 or we don't. I can't bother to get worked up about whether our destination is the Outback Bowl or the Citrus Bowl. Our season is one game. I wouldn't sit Henne because of the rust factor, but I don't worry about that with Hart.

Yeah, isn't that the point? Everyone hates journalists, with their misguided claims of neutrality (impossible, you morons) and their inflated sense of self-worth.

Why not sit Hart and Henne?
Here is my reasoning. We wouldn't be throwing in the towel, we'd be challenging our backups that, lets face it, may get action in the OSU game (that's one hard hitting game and either Henne or Hart are going to be a target).
Mallett needs to get another full game in him for me to feel confident should he be required to finish out the OSU game. He beat ND and Penn State with the help of his teamates, why can't he beat Wisconsin.
I'd also like to see Henne set the Michigan passing record at home against the Bucks.
This also puts the focus on our D-fense. I think early in the season they felt like they were an afterthought to the high powered offense that was expected to bail them out all year. This isn't the case and they have played with great effort lately.
For me, I would say it would be nice to show the confidence in the back-ups and give them a challenge the week before OSU. Make sure they are prepared to play and ready to practice hard leading up to OSU.
Mike's not going to get a shot at the Heisman anyway as much as he deserves it. I suspect he will get a trip to NY out of it, but that's it. He might as well rest up and let Minor and Brown show what they can do against a tough Wisconsin rush D-fense.
Henne I guess I could see getting significant playing time (he may need to start) to keep his rhythm with the receivers (especially after we saw how off he was in the first half with the long throws.)
I guess the nice thing about this view is that I'm happy regardless of who plays or what the outcome. Our goal is the Big 10 and beating OSU and winning a bowl game... whatever it takes to get us there including resting Henne and Hart and therefore risking a loss to Wisconsin is worth it, Especially if it gets us ready for OSU.
Coaching, let's hope they started devoting significant time to preparing for the Bucks. The Buckeye's can't afford to do that yet, but we sure can.

Ohmygawd... Knock it off with the resting everyone. This isn't week 17 in the NFL. Every starter who can suit up, hits the field. Hart and Henne play. They are seniors. This is a huge game.

i'd suggest resting hart, but not henne. mallet is so freakin bad right now, the drop off from hart to minor/brown looks like nothing in comparison. even if hart can go at 75%, i'd dress him but hold him out unless the pass pro is godawful and the fumbles show up like knats at a cleveland baseball park. i'd basically put hart as the 3rd stringer and exchange him in like they did w/ henne in evanston.

There is no way Henne or Hart sit the game if either can go.
They're seniors. This is thier last season. Regardless of what fans' think about the importance of the Wisc game, I am sure there is nothing the seniors would like to do more than run the table on the big ten. Regardless of the OSU outcome I doubt any of them could look back and say "Wow, I am glad we tanked the Wisc game on purpose!".
Also consider the subconscious effect of even considering voluntarily dropping a game right before OSU. I think it sets you up to get destroyed on the 17th.
I think we all can assume the coaches will be as conservative as possible in using H&H (putting in Mallet/C Brown/Minor as soon and as often as possible)
___________________
As unlikely as it is, if there was ever a week the coaches could and should use the "rack up 28-35+ on them early and fast using the deep ball" approach in order to rest our wounded for at least a half, this is the week. Use Hart primarily to block and bombs away with Henne.
Plus Meeechigan Dan would be a giggling mess of glee at the end if it were to happen. (not ribbing ya man, it would be fun for all of us)
We should also hope UI comes full blast at OSU and gives them a challenge for more than a quarter or two. (Yeah, that's not likely, I know)

I think Zookers will make it tough .. For one, they always play Buckeyes tough.. And also I read an article which basically shows Ron Zook really unhappy that 2 teams he beat - PSU and Wisconsin are ranked higher than Illinois. You can never go wrong with the Zooker to keep it close..
Ask him to win.. that's a different matter.

@97Alumni.....I actually think the Illini will bring a lot of heat on OSU, at least their defensive unit.
Remember, last year Illinois held the Bucks to a season low in total yards and first downs, losing only 17-10......there's lots of high end talent on that Illini D.
Offense, on the other hand, will be a problem.....they were lucky to get 10 points last year. Still, I think OSU gest pushed.....Illinois is better than PSU and Wisco, and, IMO, are the clear #3 in the conference.

I would be surprised if Mario is around next year. He's ready for the NFL and he ain't exactly Joe College.
Arrington...not exactly Joe College either. But I think he could really benefit a lot from being the #1 guy next year. Would help him make more $$ down the road. But if I had to guess I would guess he is leaving also.
This leaves Mathews, Hemingway, Clemens, Savoy and Stonum. A pretty big step down, although those 5 guys ain't exactly chopped liver either. Would like to see M add

I honestly hope you guys are right and a pissed off Illini crew gives OSU everything they've got...
As you say, very likely UI's O will get demolished by the OSU D (IMO OSU'd D very likely turns in a score or two off of turnovers early and it becomes a non-contest)
OT - while watching the UM v UI game this year, I kept thinking how lame it is that they were forced to axe the Chief when FSU still gets to use their mascot.
Also OT - Zook makes some of the weirdest faces ever by a coach on the sideline during a games.

I simply cannot believe people STILL are saying to sit these guys.
You are going to need a tazer to keep Mike Hart off the field the next two weeks. And a mace to Henne, right in the skull.
10-2 isn't better than 9-3? Or, 8-4? M is going to fall, hard, if they lose a game. Voters haven't forgotten Appy, they are just reacting to the 8 game win streak. If they lose at Wisconsin, it's down to 20, and maybe back up to 12ish if they beat OSU. If they win both, we're going higher than we could have ever hoped way back when the Oregon game was the perceived death knell for M relevance.
If you really think this is meaningless, try to convince Lloyd, Mike, and Chad of that. I think you might find a little disagreement. Further, if this is so meaningless, the comment thread better not digress into Fire lllloyd!! and other random negativity when M inevitably goes down 10-7 or something in the 2nd quarter.

Who in the heck cares whether we're 20th or 16th or 13th? Is that really something you care about? Is the difference between entering the OSU game ranked 10th and entering it ranked 20th really going to affect the outcome? Will dropping to 18th instead of dropping out of the rankings really make you feel better if we lose to the Bucks again? I couldn't care less about any of this crap. All I care about is winning the Big 10 and the great thing is that the only way to do that is to beat the Buckeyes--the only thing which rivals winning the Big 10 in importance.
No doubt you'd have to strap Hart to the bench to keep him out of the game. That goes without saying. The kid has the heart of a lion. We all know that. But this isn't about anything other than positioning ourselves to win the Big 10. If Hart weren't clearly banged up, nobody would be talking about resting him for shits and giggles. Fact is, there is a SIGNIFICANT chance he could re-injury is ankle, at least in a slight way. And for what?

The rankings don't matter right now, in some respects.
However, they will matter. Let's say Michigan loses against Wisconsin and OSU and then in the bowl game. They'll finish 8-5 and almost certainly be out of the top 25 in every poll. I don't care how you look at it; that would be bad for the Michigan program.
If Michgan loses against Wisconsin and OSU but then wins its second-tier bowl game, we might (MIGHT) finish near the bottom of the top 25.
There's way too much to project right now, so I don't want to get into all the scenarios. But voters take current/previous rankings into account. The higher Michigan is ranked, the higher they'll move up. It's just common sense that jumping from #14 to #7, for example, is more difficult than jumping from #10 to #7.
(Those are random numbers.)
Even if we do get a new coach, I want Michigan to be ranked as highly as possible at the end of the year. It's good for our program and it's good for recruiting.

if he's good enough to go, hart should go. that's it. that's all. sitting out a guy who is 90-99% is akin to throwing in the towel. if he's near 75%, then he clearly has limited effectiveness and should not play too much.

If Les Miles comes to Michigan, the only recruit I can see it impacting is Robby Green. He's considering LSU (heavily) and Michigan (lightly), so that could be a swing in our favor.

The Miles rumor doesn't pass the sniff test. Let's look at this from two perspectives. First, is the issue that he is sure he is taking the Michigan job. Carr hasn't retired, nor announced his intent to do so. So we would have to believe that Carr or Martin is making calls to Baton Rouge in-season. Then we would have to believe that they not only informed Miles that Carr was quitting, but offered him the job without going through the interview process and without getting any financial terms down on paper. Then we'd have to believe that Martin has gotten approval from the powers that be to pay out the buyout in Miles' contract. It's smaller for us than anyone else, but it still ain't small. Martin can't just toss around 7-figures worth of money without some sort of internal process.
But that's just to get us to the fact that Miles has been offered and accepted the job. Next we would need to assume that Miles is so bold and determined that he is not only willing to invest in a house with no binding contract, but that he is willing to risk being sniffed out and having the media all over his ass for the next 3 months. And he would not just be opening himself up to personal criticism, but he would be risking his current season (which is going pretty well), by distracting and potentially alienating his players. The A2 housing market isn't THAT competitive. It's not like there won't be some beautiful properties on sale in 6 weeks or 10 weeks. Why now?
Hey, maybe Mrs. Miles just wants to get in the real estate investment game, and this has nothing to do with her hubby's job. But that seems unlikely. And that possibility aside, the whole story seems suspect.

Or maybe it's just a silly internet rumor? I mean, I'm not saying the "favorite math teacher" theorem is completely impossible. I'm just saying that it doesn't pass the sniff test. Since this whole Les-Miles-to-Michigan thing has been talked about for weeks and weeks now, it's not all that surprising a viral internet rumor has finally taken root.

I checked the Ann Arbor property records, which are online, and while there are twelve properties owned by people/corporations with Miles as a surname/corporate name, none are in Barton Hills or any other area suitable for a residence of appropriate grandeur.
Of course, it could be a trust under the wife's maiden name, which Google is not showing me no matter how hard I search, or something like that.
