The clash you mention between the python-dev panel and the PyPy 1.0 presentation is particularly annoying for me. I am chairing the panel and so don't have the option of going to the PyPy session instead. PyCon is even more chock-full of excellent sessions than in previous years.

Bruce is currently undergoing another annual spurt of development as a couple of us are finishing off our presentations for OSDC '06.
Most notably there's a new tool "socrates" which allows you to write your presentation entirely in a single text file, rather than as a more complex Python script.
I've done a bunch of tweaking around other parts of Bruce.
Also, Anthony (Baxter) has added new features including spawning background processes (pausing is optional), allowing timed page progression, a shell interpreter page (similar to the python interpreter page), ...
There will be a new release post-OSDC '06. It's most likely going to be refactored to use pyglet so there's no pygame dependency.

The schedule is not fixed and there will be changes made. We hope to have a system to determine interest in talks so we don't have a repeat of last years testing talk in Preston Trail. Authors are also reporting conflicts due to air travel, etc. There is also talk of a re-org to add back in a set of lightning talks on friday evening (will be very hard to do).
I guess I am saying planning what talks you plan on seeing with the existing spreadsheet is a bit premature. We are ussing google spreadsheets because of the colaboration features which allow us to work on it as a group in realtime.
Jeff Rush is 'working' on a PyCon S5 template for presenters to use. He is rather buisy and could use some help. *cough*
