It might be worthwhile to give a quick nod to Bridge (http://defuze.org/) since it is able to parse XML easily using a vast majority of parsers including System.Xml.
As a side note, I am very excited to your talk as I have been doing a good deal with using IronPython + C# bindings to a C library to make simple, scriptable Windows.Forms apps.
It might be nice, if possible, to show what the app looks like on Mono/Linux - even if it's just a screenshot.
